Open Thread: One more day to Send Swish!
ByWe’re now into Day Three of the Final Vote balloting, and Nick Swisher has regained the lead over Kevin Youkilis in this back-and-forth affair for the final roster spot on the AL All Star Team. That doesn’t mean Swish doesn’t need your help anymore, he only leads by less than one percentage point. You’ve got until 4pm ET to vote as many times as possible for the Yanks’ rightfielder, so make sure you do it and get an eighth Yankee in Anaheim next week. Here’s the ballot.
Once you’ve voted a few hundred times, use this as your open thread until the game thread comes along a little later. The Met are playing the Reds, and you can laugh along at either SNY or ESPN. Talk about anything – I hear NBA free agency is the cool thing with the kids – just don’t be a jerk.

Arroyo is pitching? Francesa JIP warning.
he for some reason gets a hard on for this guy, yet he consistently sucks for the money he’s being paid
He’s overpaid, yeah, but he’s not a horrible pitcher. Francessa has liked worse players.
Marcus Thames in left tonight. Bottom of the lineup includeds Cervelli and Peña.
Good they we won the series, eh?
Oh.
VIVA ESPAÑA!!!
That goal was all sorts of awesome.
Why are they giving 2 regulars a day off at the same time?
House Money day, the Joe Torre special. Already took the first two games of the series, the third game is just gravy.
Series wins don’t matter. Sweeping and then loosing the next series is the same as going 2-3 in both. Every game (non-divison rival) is the same.
Things that every single baseball team does literally dozens and dozens of times every single year:
Give 2 regulars a day off at the same time.
…and lo and behold, they actually win a bunch of those games when they get a good effort from their starting pitcher.
Alex Rodriguez-35
Derek Jeter-36
Jorge Posada-38
That’s why. And even the younger guys like Tex, Swish and Grandy can use a blow here and there as well.
Cano and Grandy are the guys with the day off.
Do we know if this is related to the “injury” at all?
Cano’s a “younger guy”. And my point is get used to the idea of guys getting regular days off on this team. You may not like it now, but when they have fresh legs in October and their opponents don’t, you’ll be happy. It’s one of the luxuries the Yanks enjoy that other teams don’t, being able to afford to give guys days off and still have a good chance to win games.
And even the younger guys . . . can use a blow here and there as well.
We all could, Nostra. We all could.
Awwww… you poor fella.
Hey! Anyone want to give Jack over here a BJ? Anyone?
Also, I guess I’m rooting for Spain by default. The Dutch seem like really cool people, but I’ve actually been to Spain, so that gives me a closer connection.
I’ve been to both the Netherlands and Spain, and I have Dutch friends, but Spain has better food.
Food always wins out. Always.
but we have weed and hookers man..that beats food..right…right?
Hookers are everywhere though.
‘S all ’bout quality control, m’man.
They start the hottest ones right in the red light in A-Dam proper, then move them out in concentric circles as they get, shall we say, less desirable.
Spain is so hard to predict these days. Just got back from South Africa yesterday and was at the Spain-Paraguay game. They looked terrible there and probably should have lost that game but came back to shock the Germans today. Should be a great final and we’ll definitely have a winner who hasn’t won it before!
Out of curiosity, why did you go to the WC but leave before the finals.
I had been there for 3 weeks mostly and had tickets to 2 round of 16′s and 2 quarterfinals. Epic trip but I have to get back to work at some point
Aight Rab, where do you think lebron is going to?
Gut says NY. I don’t know why and I know very little about the NBA so my opinion is moo.
LeBron will have Press conference, to make official that he will join the illuminati.
lol
New York. It makes the most sense.
It’s science.
What is your thoughts on the Amare signing?
Personally, I think the is good not great considering im not fond of big mean who r not good rebounders and defenders. However, he is still a very good player especially on offense and if they can add a LeBron, basically he can do what Steve Nash did in the pick & roll giving Amare those easy buckets.
I would have preferred Bosh (youth/injury risk), but I get the wisdom of moving quickly to wrap up Amare. Apparently, LeBron ranked them equally in terms of desirability as teammates, so it makes sense.
So potential Starting 5:
C-Amare
PF-Gallinari
SF-LeBron
SG-Chandler
PG-Douglas
Line up is small, and rebounding would be a problem, however on the offensive end, try to guard that front-line of Amare, Gallo and of course James.
Wouldn’t Chicago make a whole lot of sense right now too? Rose-Lebron-Boozer-Noah would be a darn good core.
Amare >>>>>>>>>>> Boozer
Also:
New York >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chicago
That.
Although LeBron would be interested in working with Rose and Noah provides defense in the paint, something the Knicks really don’t have at this moment.
However, at the end of day, like I said, LeBron loves being a celebrity and NY is the home of being a true celebrity (fuck that LA shit)
Rose >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> wait… who’s the Knick’s point guard?
gallo would get murdered as a PF. and rose + boozer >>>>>> amare
Bron Bron is gonna run his own point, Magic Johnson style.
lebron when he signs
My point is that on the court, the Bulls are a FAR better option than the Knicks.
NY because Chad85 said so:
#OCNNBREAKINGNEWS *Empire State of Mind* *wink* *wink*only the smart folk will put this together and figure out what i am talking about #6
http://twitter.com/ogochocinco
Really though, NY is the most logical place for him to go.
Maybe Chicago but I really feel at this point rite now, NY has the better roster to work with.
Evan Roberts is claiming on Twitter he knows for a fact that Lebron is going to the Knicks.
my heart tells me NY, it would be so awesome to have basketball in NY revelant again. but idk, the guy can literally choose any place he wants
Miami to join D-Wade.
No I know nothing about basketball, but that would be pretty sweet. If someone put a gun to my head and forced me to pick an NBA team, it’d be the Heat.
I’m relatively certain I’ve voted 100 times…and in no way is that depressing.
Don’t worry you aren’t the only one. I’m still voting.
Awesome. And, I am president of the Nick Swisher Fan Club; I should be voting that many times.
I vote whenever I can. I’m pretty sure I’ve voted 100+ times. I feel as if this is a good way to spend my time, actually.
I had a two hour break at work today and voted for most of it.
That’s not crazy or anything…
Learning centers are really boring when there aren’t any students around, haha.
I support your insanity haha. It’s for a good cause. Can’t let the Redsox win this vote contest.
The boss left the office today so I used all six of our interns to vote for about an hour after lunch.
Excellent use of interns.
They make it so easy to vote again and again. In my down time at work, I just sit here entering 5 digits and clicking my mouse over and over.
So from reading the latest tweets from the beat writers, apparently Cano had no idea that he had been pulled from the Home Run Derby. Sure sounds like he wasn’t consulted about the decision. Meh, thats a Met-like level of communications breakdown. Not that big of a deal, but still, would have been nice if they told Robbie before the media.
So Seth Everett tweeted that Amar’e, LeBron and Allan Houston went to sparks steakhouse. i am assuming this happened late today
http://twitter.com/Seth_Everett/status/17987397481
Looks like LeBron is coming to New York, but I’m cautiously optimistic.
Next thing you know, he’s actually staying in Cleveland.
Isn’t that guy a comedian or something though.
He may just be posting bullshit for attention. Not too trustworthy.
Although I have thought from the get go it was Cleve or NY. So I still think he is coming.
Seth Everett works for ESPN. has worked with MLB and specific teams in the past. but i wouldnt consider him someone in the know for all this basketball free agency talk
Next I expect we’ll be reading tweets about LeBron taking a bathroom break or deciding to wear green underwear.
Orlando Cabrera and his .291 OBP–that’s a winning player for sure!
haha my dad just came home from work, and gave me a vuvuzela a co-worker had bought in south africa for him
http://i29.tinypic.com/1j3xg7.jpg
That’s pretty badass.
Jealous.
I really can’t wait for the Mets to make the awful decision to sit Angel Pagan when Carlos Beltran returns.
I know Met fans are in love with Pagan, but if Beltran put up a .822 OPS with 6 HRs they’d be disappointed with him. Now, many of them don’t want to sit Pagan when Beltran comes back.
Hey RAB, if LeBron signs with the Knicks, while I understand it’s a baseball/Yankee blog, would you make a thread or post that LeBron has sign with the Knicks?
The open thread will be up at that time tomorrow, just go to town in there.
YAY!!!!!
International waters. Tyson-Secretariat I.
only if he signs up to play CF for the yankees too
I bet he could play a decent corner OF. I don’t think he could hit, though.
adrian beltre just committed his 14th error
14!!!
holy shit

It’s probably just personal preference/bias, but I object to Sheffield being included in that “he shouldn’t get in” list with Sosa/McGwire/Palmeiro. I think he should be more in the “up in the air” list with Bonds/Clemens/Ramirez/
Raekwon the Sheff was a much better player than McGwire/Sosa/Palmeiro, good enough that his numbers merit overlooking the steroids periphery of his career.
FWIW, B-R.com’s HoF standards rankings (50 or higher indicates Hall worthiness):
McGwire: 42 (#133 overall)
Sosa: 52 (#72)
Palmiero: 57 (#42)
Sheffield: 61 (#28)
I think Sheff should get in. However, I think he has absolutely no chance, which is what Januz meant, probably. If any of us know what Januz means, ever.
I think he’s got no chance because everyone thinks he was a dick. He’s a great player, though. He should get in.
Dude’s got a career wOBA of .392. And he’s the only man in history to be an All-Star for 5 different teams.
87th in B-Proj. WAR.
So he should get extra credit for pissing off enough teams that he kept getting bounced around and had the opportunity to be an All-star for 5 teams?
The only reason he was an All Star for so many teams is that he was a dick. He wasn’t going to stick with one or two teams in his career.
Precisely.
This is sad but true. Sheffield should definitely get in.
i guarantee you manny gets in the HOF by the 3rd or 4th ballot
Yeah, that’s fair. I don’t think Gary was a product of steroids like those other guys were.
What is the RAB stance on the RS-Rays game?
What is the RAB stance on the RS-Rays game?
Wide.

ABB. You can guess what that stands for. =P
If Boston was back like, 20 games, I MIGHT root for… not Tampa. But they’re not. I would like Boston to disappear while they’re down, thank you very much
Given how the first two games of the series have gone, Tampa. Bury the Sox.
SWEEP THE LEG!!!!!
or my other favorite line from that movie:
GET HIM A BODY BAG!!
Well, although my hate for Boston runs high, and this will probably not be a popular decision, but I’m thinking it would probably be better if they beat the Rays…
Going forward, I think the Rays are the more dangerous team. They are younger, have a stronger rotation, and a better run differential than the Sox and ultimately I think that their generally weak performance against the East this year as well as the injuries are indicators that the Sox are likely fade back over the long term.
So, if the Yankees win tonight and Boston were to beat the Rays, it would mean both the Sox and the Rays are 3 or more games away from first. Obviously, winning puts a team in control of their own destiny, but if the Yankees lose and Boston wins, it still means that no team is closer than 2 games out.
Yankees win, Rays win: Yankees up by 2.
Yankees win, Rays lose: Yankees up by 3.
Yankees lose, Rays win: Yankees up by 1.
Yankees lose, Rays lose: Yankees up by 2.
I hope they both find a way to lose!
That’s how I feel when the Sox/Angels, Eagles/Cowboys, Nova/’Cuse play.
Nova/Cuse?
Villanova/Syracuse.
/UConn grad’d
There is only one scenario I would ever root for Boston:
It’s the last week of the season, the Sox are in first place playing the Rays, and we’re 2 games behind the Rays for the Wild Card. Therefore, it’s an absolutely necessity for the Rays to lose. But since that won’t be happening this year, I won’t be rooting for Boston anytime soon.
Chicago from reports just signed, Carlos Boozer to 5 year deal.
Yeah, I heard earlier today about that.
With nothing else, that should put them probably one level below the Hawks and Heat. And two levels below Boston, Orlando and the Knicks (with LeBron, ha)
TSJC, do you have a twitter account?
Nobody is following me on Twitter…:(
what’s your account? I’ll follow youuuu. You can also follow me if you want but be prepared for 01856098609860968 Tweets a day, approximately
This is what happens to the chronically unemployed.
I’m confused. When you start with a 0, does that mean none. Or did you mean to just write a huge number and thoughtlessly started with 0?
I’m assuming the latter.
The latter. I always do that mockingly when I type out some exaggeratedly huge number.
Alright!
here’s my account. Everybody else, add me if you want!

I’m following you. I gave you a shoutout too.
I noticed! Thanks bexy! And also thanks to Dela G!

I love how I’m following/being followed by a bunch of people on here that I didn’t even know were those people.
So according to my mom, who heard on 1010 WINS, LeBron will be making his announcement from the Boys and Girls Club here in Greenwich. Me thinks LeBron will be a Knick in 25 hours or so.
agreed.
I have been saying since the start if the NBA season that LeBron is either going to NY or stays in CLE and Chi being a dark horse.
Logic says he goes to NY
The media has made New York seem like the dark horse in all of this.
Which is exactly why they have been the favorites from the get go. LeBron loves the deception and attention. When he tries to fool people, he leaks everything but the actual truth.
LeBron Loves being a celebrity, remember that.
Everything points to New York, I just hope that’s the truth.
Guess Lebron will be frequenting Yankee Stadium a lot more next season.
The same could be said for Sabathia and others about Madison Sq Garden
So… who here is going to watch the LBJ press conference tomorrow? I have a feeling even some of the Yanks themselves will be watching it before tomorrow’s game against Seattle.
I bet CC already knows he is coming to NY, meaning the rest of the Yanks probably know too.
Some people are in the know, and the rest of us have to watch it on TV.
Keith Hernandez: Angel Hernandez is a star player.
Uh… yeah.
Well, he is playing well. he’s definitely not a star, but for some reason Pagan is getting absolutely no love.
Should he? He’s been nothing but a part time player until now and he isn’t exactly young. Calling him a “star” is like Yankee fans calling Gardner a star after a decent first half.
Yeah, he should. I mean, I’m not saying he should be an All-Star, but he’s got a .361 OBP and a .357 wOBA, yet everyone seems to think he’s the one that should sit when Beltran returns. He’s played well enough to justify an every day spot.
Yeah, they’re too in love with Frenchy’s defense. The guy is hot for 10 at-bats and cold for 50. He should be the one to ride the pine.
Word.
Pagan’s no slouch on defense. He’s played 8.2 raw UZR CF since ’06 and that should translate well to RF.
I think it has to do with his conflicting theological nature of his name.
Angel
Pagan
Both the religious and non-religious distrust him.
while the agnostics are ambivalent.
Pick a side! We’re at war!
/Colbert’d
Tthe best part about being half black and half white is that when I grow up, I’ll be accepted by everyone!
/Stewie
Angel Hernandez the umpire?
So with LBJ+Amare+Gallinari+Chandler+Douglas as the core, here’s another thought.
We can flip Eddy Curry’s expiring deal to a team trying to get under the cap. With Bron and Amare locked in, we’re not going to be big players in free agency soon (and Carmelo’s going to take Denver’s extension anyway, so it’s moot).
Eddy Curry to the Warriors for Monta Ellis. Ellis makes 11M a year for the next 4 seasons, which lines up with Curry perfectly. And the Warriors would be interested in getting an expiring deal and moving Curry, who’s fallen out of favor with Nelson and takes shots away from Stephen Curry.
Ellis is a bit of a ballhog, but he’d defer to LBJ/Amare/Gallo in our system and be a clear 4th option, and he’s fast as shit.
Thoughts?
Wouldn’t you rather just let Curry’s deal expire and sign a big FA next year? Are there any available that are good fits?
Wouldn’t you rather just let Curry’s deal expire and sign a big FA next year?
Yes.
Are there any available that are good fits?
No.
Do you actually think the Warriors would do that?
Yes.
if the warriors wanted to get rid of ellis that much, they would trade him for an expiring contract that actually knows how to play basketball.
If expiring contracts needed to actually play basketball to be tradable, then Keith Van Horn, Cuttino Mobley, Theo Ratliff, and Wally Szczerbiack wouldn’t have been traded in the past half decade, but they all were.
Sheesh was a silly system.
Meh. I mean Ellis has a world of ability but his efficiency rating is brutal as well as his +/- numbers. Plus, he would be the type of player who would give D’Antoni fits. He’s not a grade A shooter so that doesn’t help him in that system and he will struggle in a offense where doesn’t have the ball to be effective.
Personally I think you need more size up front to assist Amare.
I honestly don’t think Melo will take the extension. He’d probably want to get away from the West.
Hasn’t he been quoted saying he wants to play in NY?
It’s moot. If we have LeBron and Amare under contract, we can’t add Anthony. There’d be no room.
Gotcha.
If I’m reading it correctly, it seems that the Knicks have a 4 mil option on Gallinari. Couldn’t they reject it?
A) They wouldn’t reject it.
B) Even Curry + Gallo’s money isn’t enough to get Carmelo Anthony.
You are kidding me right?? Ellis, the biggest ballhog in the NBA?? Let Curry’s contract run out and have cap room next season, even if not for Melo for Tony Parker or other FA’s.
The problem is, Curry’s money alone isn’t enough room to add anyone better than Ellis’s talent. When Curry expires, that’s probably 12M in total cap room. You’re not getting Melo/Parker/CP3/anyone else to take only 12M.
But wouldn’t you want to give Douglas a chance.
I mean the guy albeit in limited time, did shot nearly 39% from 3, which helps spreads the offense for LeBron and Amare.
Toney Douglas is, and always will be, an excellent backup point guard.
With LeBron in the backcourt with him TD would be an ideal starter at PG. He wont do much of the ball-handling and can just worry about what he does best which is play D and shoot.
The Lakers did win back to back rings with Derek Fisher playing the pg. I think the Knicks can surely win with Douglas as the Knicks starting pg.
I’m not killing Toney Douglas in this scenario. Both Douglas and Ellis will play.
Yeah but I think he would fit the team better than Monta Ellis would.
Monta Ellis is better than he is, though.
I agree that Ellis is the better player but I feel Douglas would fit more with what the Knicks want. Again, Ellis NEEDS the ball to be effective and considering that he might be the 4th option on the team, I don’t think he would get enough opportunities to be effective. Plus, he’s below avg 3 pt shooter so he doesn’t spread the floor and he stinks on defense. If your going to be a 4th option on a team, you better be good at other things. Douglas at least offers solid D and 3 pt shooting. Now I think Ellis would be the Knicks Lamar Odom coming off the Bench.
Now I think Ellis would be the Knicks Lamar Odom coming off the Bench.
That.
More good scorers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> fewer good scorers
Well yeah lol…
When the new CBA comes into place next season 12 million could be a max deal from what Ive read with how badly the Owners want to crush the players.
If they do trade Curry, which from everything I have read aint gonna happen, it wont be for a no-passing “PG” like Ellis. Hell there are rumors now of a sign-and-trade for David Lee to go to Golden St if Knicks dont sign LeBron and Ellis isnt even rumored to be in the package, Anthony Randolph is rumored to be the big piece for the Knicks in that deal.
When the new CBA comes into place next season 12 million could be a max deal from what Ive read with how badly the Owners want to crush the players.
There’s absolutely no possible way the max deal decreases that much. It’s currently in the 16.5M-20M range. That rollback you mentioned is a 20% cut, which is ridonkulous.
Wouldn’t the New deal affects the Chris Duhon/Steve Blakes of the world, rather the Carmelo Anthony’s of the world?
That.
Midlevel players will get killed. Superstars will still get their money. The union always protects it’s high priced superstar vets.
I like it! But I’m also too lazy to check out who is in next year’s free agent class, so maybe there are better options.
Just an FYI…If anybody wants to listen to Betances’ Tampa start, look up Daytona Cubs on the MILB.com audio…He’s doing his thing so far through 4.
Thought: we’re all wasting valuable voting time by posting in here.
Ummm… yeah. (slinks away, feeling guilty)
Haha, so true.
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/.....ccess.html
I wish i had a program that could vote for me
When you take into account all facets of a free agency signing, NY seems to make the most sense for LeBron. Media exposure (not that he needs it), endorsements, money, prestige, and to be quite honest, roster. Gallo/Chandler/Amare is a very nice nucleus and is certainly better than what NJ, Chicago or Cleveland has. And it’s arguably better than a Boozer/Rose/Noah trio, especially considering Boozer’s injury history. I doubt LA is too serious a threat because anyone that goes there plays second fiddle to the Lakers, and in turn, Kobe. I’m pretty sure that with Bosh and Wade on board with max contracts, Miami would need to clear Beasley in order to afford a third max.
Throw in the fact that New York can deal away Curry’s expiring contract, they’ll have more money to play around with next offseason too, to add anything they’re missing.
I hate being optimistic when it comes to things like this, but if LeBron’s smart and his people are smart, New York should get a huge boost tomorrow night.
First half team record in each of the starting pitchers’ starts:
Sabathia: 11-6
Burnett: 8-9
Pettitte: 13-3
Vazquez: 7-8
Hughes: 11-3
Mitre: 0-2
Total: 50-31
Has anyone here passed the CPA exam while working?
i just passed 3 of the 4 parts just this past semester while in school and am waiting for the audit test score (my last section)
That was my plan but it took over 3 months to get my NTS and by then i pretty much done with school and with June being a closed month i couldn’t take any then before i started working.
here’s what i would do then. Find a way to get study materials (i used becker) and start studying for FAR as soon as possible, because that test takes forever to do. What state are you in that it took so long? in texas it took 3 weeks from application to NTS. they must be too slow
had i not already sold most of my becker stuff on ebay back in may, i would easily give them to you for free.
i’ll tell you, the best order to study for the tests is FAR, BEC, REG, Audit. If you do it in that order (that’s what i did), you are set up to spend an entire off month to study for REG, which is crucial
I have the Becker stuff. I’m studying FAR Ive already been through all the multiple choice once. Now im going back through and reading the book and doing the MC again.
Part of the problem is I commute and have to get up at 6 to get to work dont get home till after 6 and it doesn’t leave much time to study before I get really tired.
I applied in Mississippi.
yeah man i totally understand. if you were to find a way to just study in small bites (maybe 3-4 hours a weekday, and read some flashcards during lunch) and then 5-6 hours on saturday and sunday, you will be fine. The lectures for FAR take FOREVER to watch, but as you are doing, keep on chuggin along
Congratulations on passing though man thats awesome. and thanks for the advice.
how about baseball free agency. Any news on IFA’s? I see a lot of names being picked up by other teams, but no NYY buzz.
Yanks probably feel that the talent isn’t worth the price. As I’ve heard multiple times this year is meh.
Even if this was the case, I’d find it hard to believe that the Yankees didn’t like anyone.
I’m sure they will swing at least a few 400k-1 mil deals.
These are the Yankees we’re talking about. They are big players in the IFA market.
I haven’t read or heard anything either. Strange..July 2nd came and went.
But, the whole steroid issue with these players forced the process to slow down a bit.
Just give it some time, the Yankees will get someone.
http://www.nyyfans.com/forums/.....38;page=92
NYYFans has a thread on it, but as you said nothing Yankee-related has happened. The one guy with the biggest upside is a 15 year old pitcher from Mexico (Luis Heredia?) and you have to wait until they turn 16 before you can sign a player. So even if the Yanks don’t do much here, keep an eye on Heredia’s sweet 16 birthday party.
Actually it wouldn’t be sweet 16.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincea%C3%B1era
If the Yankees are handing you 2 mil, it’s pretty sweet.
According to the docs — filed recently in federal court — Gloria has spent the rest of her life shielding LeBron from the truth.
But the man making the claim isn’t some schmuck — dude is a Princeton graduate … who earned a law degree from the University of Chicago … and then became a Senior Legal Advisor for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
In his suit, Stovell claims he has a very clear recollection of the night he had “consensual sexual relations” with Gloria — in fact, he even remembers apologizing for his sub-par performance.

Baby mama drama.
the “facts” are very interesting
Even if he is Lebron’s Dad, what legal rights does he have?
Lebron’s mother should counter-sue for 20 years of unpaid child support, plus interest.
Thought child support was required only to 18?
A thought:
This winter, when we sign Cliff Lee to go with CC Sabathia and LeBron James, the entire city of Cleveland will probably put out a hit on all New Yorkers. Mayor Bloomberg should issue a travel advisory.
Do not travel to Northeast Ohio unless absolutely necessary for fear of bodily harm.
But dont the Indians have Shelley Duncan?
C’mon!
That’s even more worrisome. Shelly likes to go spikes up, to the groin.
Actually, I think they’ll go the Machu Picchu route and just abandon the place since the city has lost its economic function.
Are there any other Cleveland athletes worth importing?
Choo better believe it.
how could i forget him?
Carlos Santana!
The catcher of course.
Wow, tsjc. I’m amazed at how confident you are that the Knicks are getting LBJ. I applaud your optimism.
Do not travel to Northeast Ohio unless absolutely necessary for fear of bodily harm.
This should be the case anyway, have you ever been to Cleveland?
I have. Once was enough.
Sandusky Point is awesome, though. Best amusement park in the country.
Oh for sure. That’s pretty much the only good thing about Northern Ohio. I would say all of Ohio, but King’s island outside of Cincy is pretty awesome too.
Not to mention pulling the AAA farm club…at least Ohio Yankee fans can get a primer of tomorrows special.
I hear Cleveland’s entire economy is built around LBJ, if he drops a triple double then theres more jobs available. if he leaves a game early with an injury then gas prices soar to over $8 a gallon.
Do not travel to Northeast Ohio unless absolutely necessary for fear of bodily harm.
My question: why the hell would you go to Northeast Ohio?
One reason: CLEVELAND

Bautista with the ITPHR.
GTFO
WTF.
IDK
So if LeBron does come to NY, he has to be the biggest acquisition in NYC of all time right? At least since A-Rod.
After Babe Ruth.
And Melvin
Babe>>>anybody else aquired in any sport (sorry Pele but you were done)
Arod & LeBron about equal (each had no rings & didn’t change the game)
Eh, I disagree.
LeBron changes the Knicks from a decent team (with Amar’e) to a top team in the NBA. Basketball is much different from baseball in that sense.
A-Rod was just a great player joining an already great team.
i was thinking about this this morning
1) Babe
2) LeBron
I would consider it bigger then A-Rod, before A-Rod the Yankees were good. LeBron has the ability to turn a whole franchise around by himself, I don’t even recall much of the Knicks ever being good.
A-rod was the best player in baseball though, possibly the best to ever play the game.
Like I always say I don’t know much about basketball, but from what I know LeBron is the best in the NBA and one of the best ever.
But when ARod joined the Yankees, they were still in the recent afterglow of the Four Rings club.
LeBron coming here might be bigger since the Knicks haven’t won since the 1970s.
I am very ignorant in terms of Basketball, but Tex and CC were pretty big.
LeBron is a much bigger name.
The thing is, in baseball, one player isn’t going to turn the team. In basketball, this happens.
That.
Yeah. Basically the equivalent to having Pujols bat three times in your line up.
Sounds like O’Neal is going to the Celtics.
Isn’t O’neil as good as James?
/very ignorant basketball person
Haha, no not at all.

Funny how good pitching staffs and good defensive team seem to go hand in hand, huh? Must be a coincidence.
Gardner and Granderson working together, I like it.

Eeeeee!!!! /girl’d
I love how Swisher’s fellow outfielders are voting for him, though. I think that’s the cutest part.
Sox getting smacked around 6-1
Cue the injury excuses.
What a poor small market team.
Shoestring budget. Always behind the 8-ball. Curse of Mark Teixeira.

the Red Sox are something like 4-15 against the Yankees since he Tweeted that. MWAHAHAHA.
It’s reality, not necessarily an excuse.
Doesn’t mean I feel bad for them at all, however. Lord knows no Sox fan felt bad for the Yankees and their fans in 2008.
Injuries won’t derail the Sox’s season b/c there’s always the wild card and the returns of Pedroia and V-mart can quickly close the gap on the Rays.
Papelbon in the 7th? What the fuck?
The Sox’s new mop-up man?
Teh most crucial inning!
July 2nd marks the beginning of the international free agent signing period for baseball prospects outside the U.S. and Canada who have turned 16 years of age. More than 25 percent of the players in Major League Baseball this year were signed as international free agents, including 21 of the top 60 hitters and 14 of the top 60 pitchers according to WAR calculations as of June 25th.

I believe you can be 15 at signing if your birthday is within 45 days after July 2nd.
This is a totally random question but I was wondering what other fans would think. What about Uggla at the trade deadline? Maybe if we eat salary we won’t have to give up a ton of prospects. We could add some right handed thump to DH and play 3B and give Arod more half days off. We could use a right handed bat, someone who can give Arod half a day without being a Pena/Russo type, And could really lengthen our lineup. I’m not sure if he still has another year of arbitration after this one but I’m assuming he’d be available since he’s getting out of their price range and he was shopped all winter. I think it hinges on how much we’d have to give up to acquire him.
