Yanks’ Killer Bs movin’ on up

We heard the rumblings late last night, and now it’s official: Manny Banuelos and Dellin Betances have been promoted to AA Trenton. The two young phenoms, both subjects of recent glowing scouting reports by Frankie Piliere, join Andrew Brackman, Hector Noesi and Adam Warren in a power-packed rotation just a train ride away from New York City. Here’s to hoping the Yanks’ pitching future is now one step closer.

Nice, lets hope the good times continue at the next level

  • The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

    Master Blaster run Trenton Town.

    • gxpanos

      Love this nickname so much.

      As evidenced by my link.

      • The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

Awesome! I actually love the nickname but I figured nobody else was into it. I think it’s hysterical.

(Btw, sure you’ve heard, but they’re making Mad Max 4… Fingers-crossed.)

  • RalphieD

but i thought the yankee system only had catchers? they have pitchers too?

exciting times to say the least

    • Nostra-Artist

The Yankee farm system is like a gay bar.

      • Angelo

      • Pete

        full of unsuspecting women?

  • Brooklyn Ed

Brackman and Noesi for September call ups?

    • JobaWockeeZ

Nothing more than a little, little cup of tea for Brackman.

      • Reggie C.

I’m not sure how many more innings the organization wants Brackman to throw. He’s up to 118 after pitching 106 last year. I can’t see Brackman going over 150 innings. That means he’s got just a shade over 30 innings till the shut-down.

        • Doug

see them shutting him down at about 140. that’d mean he’d have 170ish next year and then 200 when he debuts as the 5th starter in 2012 (hopefully).

  • JobaWockeeZ

    Great news indeed.

  • Reggie C.

I cant imagine another minor league rotation has got as many legit prospects as the re-vamped Trenton Thunder rotation.

  • Carlosologist

The fact that in ~2 years Brackman, Banuelos, and Betances could be members of the MLB rotation makes me JIMP.

  • MikeD

That’s quite a rotation developing in Trenton.

Aren’t ManBan and Dellin both 19? Or maybe I’m stuck a year or so back on Betances’ age.

    • Gonzo

      Dellin is much older.

      • Gonzo

        He’s 22.

        • MikeD

Thanks. Just went to check. I was only three years off! It’s almost as if I was a scout signing a player in Latin America.

          • Scout

You would have signed him eight years ago.

      • Jake H

        He’s 22.

      • JobaWockeeZ

        21 or 22 I think.

    • The Honorable Congressman Mondesi

      Betances is 22.

    • hello9

      Dellin is 22

    • Guest

Dellin is actually 22. He’s been hurt so often, that it feels like he hasn’t pitched much in the minors. But he’s been around since 2006.

The great thing about a guy like that though (big kid with plus plus stuff and health issues), is he can scuffle for a while, and then all of a sudden, it clicks.

It looks like its clicked for Dellin. Hopefully, he stays healthy. Because if he does, he has a great shot at being good and a good shot at being great.

      • Chris

I don’t know that you can really say that it all ‘clicked’ this year. His stuff seems to have improved somewhat, but the biggest thing is that he’s been healthy all season.

        • JobaWockeeZ

And that his control improved. He cut his walk rate by a little less than half.

          • Nostra-Artist

Right, he built on the strong 2nd half he had before elbow surgery.

  • Total Dominication

I need to head on over there soon, but for Mo’s sake, why do Thunder have to play in that shit-hole?

    • MikeD

Is that the park, or the city?

      • Chris

        or the state?

        • Total Dominication

Jersey suburbs are nice. Jersey cities are shitty.

    • pat

I like the park. And the jail across the street too.

      • Carlosologist

I went on a field trip to Trenton in March. It was shitty.

    • Nickel

The city is a dump, but the Waterfront Park is actually quite nice and easy to get to by car. Parking is a cinch, too.

  • Reggie C.

    Congrats kid.

    WPA loves the hit.

    • Reggie C.

Sorry Ben. Wrong thread. Feel free to remove.

  • Henry

Shit, Trenton is going to be showcase every night! Nice

  • Pat D

Chances Noesi or Warren replace ZMac at Scranton?

    • Gonzo

I thought I read or heard something like Mitchell was moving up, no?

      • JobaWockeeZ

I’ve heard he might leave the AA rotation but no idea where.

  • Pete

That might be the best MiL rotation this system has ever seen

  • MikeD

I thought I asked this already, but don’t see it in the chain. If two guys are moving up to AA, who is getting promoted to AAA, or bumped out of the rotation?

  • Joe

arbiso out of rotation and mitchell up to scranton to replace Zmac in rotation.

  • Operation ManBan

Wow thats quite the rotation, good to see them move up.

  • JohnnyC

That’s a little aggressive on Mitchell. But it’s great to see the system having to work through a potential logjam of legitimate prospects.

  • Nostra-Artist

Having these two one step closer to the bigs is enough to make me giddy.

  • Nostra-Artist

I also like the idea of having Brackman and Betances on the same staff. As two huge guys who will always have mechanical issues to deal with, they can pick each others brain on how to stay in check. Yes, they have coaches who should be able to watch and help them, but its much better to have a tip come from a teammate. Coaches can talk until they’re blue in the face, one word from a fellow player can really hit home.

  • 28 this year

I love that these guys are getting innings. They could be the first prospects who don’t have really restricting innings limits while coming up to the majors.

    • Carlosologist

I agree. When the Killer Bs come up, we won’t have to deal with the ____ Rules bullshit as we had to with Joba and Phil.

      • YankeesJunkie

Yeah, if they stay healthy for the next year or two they will be able to go 190-200 IP right away. Hopefully, ManBan sees some winter ball this year to make up for his missed time.

  • YankeesJunkie

This a pretty awesome rotation and better yet it is in AA.

Warren: Fast mover and projects to be a back of the rotation guy.
Noesi: Has really blown up this and also projects to be a back of the rotation guy workhorse with those great K/BB.
Brackman: Resurrected his career by cutting the BB rates and if he continues to get it together possible top of the rotation stuff.
    Betances: See Brackman
Banuelos: Utterly dominant and is in AA at the age of 19 and a lefty to boot. While his stuff may prevent him from being top of the line, his recent 94-95 showing may up his projections.

    • Carlosologist

For Betances and Brackman I would add that for both of them to reach their respective ceilings they need to stay healthy and make sure they keep their mechanics in check.

  • AndrewYF

    Can we have a ‘Killer B’s’ t-shirt?

    • Nostra-Artist

Oh yeah. Now that “The Big Three” have all graduated, we need to do this.

      Killer B’s on the front

      on the back
