2010 Instructional League Roster

Change of plans: Hughes to start tonight

Via Josh Norris, the Yankees have officially announced their Instructional League roster for 2010. Usually finding a complete list of players that will attend is like pulling teeth, but that thankfully Josh made it nice and easy.

The Instructs roster is basically a who’s who of Yankee prospects, featuring everyone from Manny Banuelos to Bryan Mitchell to Gary Sanchez to Cito Culver to Slade Heathcott and everyone in between. I’m not sure how long it lasts, but it’s basically just a Spring Training crash course down in Tampa. There’s also an Instructional League in the Dominican each year, but good luck finding who will be there and for how long. Once Instructs are over, most players will go home until the spring, others to various winter ball leagues.

Interesting that Brandon Laird is listed as an outfielder.

Agramonte, Polo, Lopez and Calderon look loke candidates for 2011 GCL teams.

Calderon’s stats look great by the way. Is he considered a good prospect?

Hopefully he’s a more disciplined hitter than Kelvin DeLeon, who looked baaaaaaaaad in SS ball. Calderon’s stats do look good, so he’s definitely a GCL/SS ball candidate.

The BB rate looks fantastic. Maybe he’s a EST to Low-A ball candidate …

What will the other two B’s do without the third B to round out the team? You can’t have just TWO killer B’s! You need three!

Has the Arizona Fall League roster been set?

That has 5 yankees listed, but every other team has seven players.
