Metro-North fire impacting service to Yankee Stadium
ByA late-morning fire at the 138th St. Lift Bridge that spans the Harlem River had shuttered all Metro-North service to and from Grand Central. As of twenty minutes ago, however, commuter trains are again servicing Manhattan but with 15-minute residual delays. For Yankee Stadium-bound customers, trains will be operating on or close to schedule prior to this evening’s game, but fans are advised to leave extra travel time to and from the game tonight.

I don’t understand why people take Metro North to Yankee Stadium from Grand Central when they can just take the 4.
I don’t think many — if anyone — does, but the service exists.
You can drink on the Metro North trains? They have padded seats? That is quite a stretch to justify some wastefully-spent commuter $
Eh, you can drink on the subway too.
I mean, not that I would ever do that or anything…
I sat next to a guy brownbagging it on the 2 yesterday. At 1130AM.
It was probably just iced tea.
I think it’s less of that than some people still go to Grand Central and take the 4 from there instead of going directly to the Yankee Stadium stop.
More folks arriving late will miss Donnie and Joe!
Is the service going to be affected for Tuesday’s game?
Nope. It was mostly fine for tonight as well, but MNR is now running on schedule.
