Kerns is not a better hitter than the three you mentioned! He makes zero contact. Pena is much better with men on base when he bats lefty than KKK Kerns. Golson adds more to a playoff roster, with his speed and defense than the plodding Kerns.
You can take “of late” out – he hasn’t been good since the Yankees first got him
With Granderson’s improvements at the plate – esp against lefties – I wonder if Golson wouldn’t add more to the roster
He had a pretty good stretch of like 10 games where he was hitting really well, to be fair.
You’re right – and to be fair, he was playing just about every day when he was first acquired. I know it’s not easy to keep your swing as a bench player – esp when the swing is that long

Just gonna repost my reply to some asshole saying we’re never gonna win the WS. I think people should read it.
Who else is gonna win it? The Twins who just yesterday reminded themselves how to win a game? The rays who have a 2 player offense, and their superstar is banged up? The Rangers, who have an all around inferior team to the other 2. Perhaps you think it’ll be the NL. The Padres or Giants with their utter lack of offense? The Braves with their lack of an ace or an overpowering offense? The Reds with their 1 player offense? Or their Phillies, who admittedly pose the best threat, but have a lineup that will be completely neutralized by the lefties in the postseason, and the bp in the latter third of the games. Did I mention they have an ok closer, a good su man, in a e=otherwise barren bp? So why, pray tell, should the Yankees not win the WS>
Maybe the team with the worst starter ERA in September?
I want the Yankees to win. Badly. But, the wonderful thing about baseball is the unpredictability. The Marlins in 97? Cardinals in 06?

I didn’t say they were never gonna win the WS. In fact they have won the WS so that statement is stupid. I just don’t think its their year, but I could be wrong.
The reason: Repeating is very difficult to do. The Yanks were the last one to do it. and they did it in the previous CENTURY.
Any team in the playoffs has a chance to the World Series. Just ask the 2006 Cardinals. I do however agree the Yankees are setup well to have a shot at the World Series. Your post sounds a little too arrogant though, especially by saying “So why, pray tell, should the Yankees not win the WS”.
I just meant that they had at least as good a chance as anyone else.

The Phillies have better starting pitching and are currently playing better…I would say they are by far the biggest threat to #28.

Sometimes, when a pitcher’s as wild as Dice-K’s been, getting enough of a bead on him to get a hit isn’t easy.

Can someone explain why Mike Lowell would get his own day? The Red Sox’s general shittiness as a franchise really is underrated. Never let them forget that Tim Wakefield holds all their pitching records. Lowell is there for five years and he gets to give a speech on the field like he’s Lou Gehrig?

Plus, there’s really no difference between facing Lee or Liriano. Both are high quality LHP.
I wouldn’t say the worst but they’re not a clear cut better team than the Twins.
Rangers can’t hit outside Arlington and their pitching is on par with the Twins. Difference is you get a game at home if you play the Rangers.

This has just been a brutal day. And I’ll stick with that even if the Yanks end up sweeping. Blowing 2-run leads late in each game (I know, the second time was dictated by circumstance, but it was also against a triple-A line-up) doesn’t make it feel like the team deserves to win the division.
It seems like, ever since the team realized it was so far ahead in the Wild Card race that a post-season berth was a near certainty, they haven’t played the same. I certainly believe they can recapture their top-level for the playoffs, but I’d like to see a trace of it now.
Get over it. This second game of a doubleheader with AAA players at one in the morning is not an indication of how the Yankees will play in the playoffs.
There are a whole lot more Triple A players on the team that came back than the team that blew the lead.
And the failure to drive in key runs has been a weeks-long phenomenon that I’m starting to worry will bite them at a big moment.

First of all, I wasn’t frustrated or annoyed by the way they played. They had scrubs filling in some spots and playing defense where our line up is usually solid. Those scrubs don’t get paid millions. The ones that do are our big producers who shouldn’t kill themselves to win a game that means nothing. They were obviously tired. Playing two games in one day is exhausting. It’s not “inexcusable, unacceptable, pathetic and embarrassing.” It’s a late September game that means all of zero.

They’re in two completely different classes and they did get hits off Boston pitchers as well as walks. Not all things are made equal. You don’t get a hit just because the other team did. Again, not the way the game is played.
You know who insults the players in their team? Bandwagon fans who only love a team when it wins. If you’re a real fan, you learn to take the good with the bad and accept that your team can’t be phenomenal all the time. They’re human. They make mistakes.
