So the Daily News was right with the E-Z Pass headline?
Haha seems so.
I thought the Twins were using it as motivation or something
Exactly right.
LOL @ picture
Posada’s hand…
Posada’s expression…
PRICELESS
Second base!
LOL that should be the caption!
Posada with the free hand mammogram.
I’m surprised they swept. The media kept telling me that they wouldn’t advance because they have no pitching after CC!
Yep. Game one was a “must win” because we’d never win a game with Pettitte or Hughes on the bump.
So I just realized, Ron Gardenhire is essentially the Mart Schottenheimer of the MLB.
Would’ve never predicted a sweep.
Just freaking awesome. Fantastic job, Yankees!
So, so, so proud of Phil. Can’t even contain how happy and excited I am for him. This is just step one, but he was amazing.
He’s only gonna get better, which is scary in a good way
That’s what’s awesome about him. I couldn’t be prouder.
I’m a happy girl. Granderson has been superb. Berky (loved when Andy Pettitte called him that) has really contributed, and Young Master Phil has been masterful (swoons; demurely half-closes eyelids) and Swisher has been Swisher. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
ALCS, here we come!
WHO DO WE HAVE AFTER CC THOUGH?
WHAT IF BURNETT HAS TO PITCH??
Totally would love to have Kim Jones’ job. Not gona lie.
I know people make fun of her, but she’s laughing last, isn’t she? What a dream job.
FIRE GIRARDI
/nomaas’d
Don’t forget that RAB has criticized Girardi, too.
Yes they have, but they never advocated firing him. Criticism is fine.
And as they take the plane back to Minnesota to enjoy some offseason ice fishing, I hope the Twins’ rotation takes a moment to ponder why in the hell most Americans came into this series touting them as better than CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte and Phil Hughes.
Hey, but Carl Pavano has really good fastball location or something.
Where does the ALCS start? Does it matter who wins the Texas/TB series?
The winner of that series.
Did I win the hat!?
I love how the rotation shut down the doubters with authority. Phil’s start tonight was the exclamation point on the statement.
Read on some Red Sox blog after they were E’d that every RS fan needed to become a rabid Minny fan.
So how’s that working for you Boston?
I wonder if Joe will steal Cervelli’s jersey when we win the World Series. That would be badass.
The awesome part…when he has to face the dilemma of getting up to Elston Howard’s number.
I think it’s cute when the players and Girardi have their kids with them during their press conferences. Like last year when AJ and CC did that.
Girardi’s son is a straight up pimp. He’s just sitting on his dad’s lap in the press conference all, “Yeah, I’m his son. And?”
Looks like a mini-Joe G.
Kind of funny that CC had the worst start of the 3.
thats the game my ulcer was looking for
LMFAO!
Same here dude, same here. I’ve been so tense and neurotic this week.
The headline on the new york daily news website is awesome:
SWEEP!!
(We told you so)
So…how about how much Mauer has stunk in the post season. Yet, somehow I doubt he will get the A-Rod treatment in the press.
Eh, the team in general stunk. It’s definitely not on Mauer that the Twins are on their way home.
Thing about Mauer is, aside from one big year, he’s not really a pure power hitter. It’s hard to carry a team on your back all by yourself when your a doubles and singles machine.
FWIW, Olney suspects that his knee bothered him more than he would admit.
Yea, but for some reason he has nothing to prove the way ARod did. I don’t know, maybe another first round exit or two and they’ll start harping on him.
I think Tampa needs to win tomorrow so that Lee has to throw in game 5. That would be very awesome for the Yanks.
Sorry, Dave Cameron. The Twins were not the best team in baseball.
Did he say that?
Does he say it here?
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs.....-baseball/
Yeah, it’s tough work beating up on those AL Central doormats 15+ times a year.
Not just in that article. He’s been beating the drum every single chance he’s had over the last several weeks.
Girardi’s son looks kind of bored…
I don’t blame him given the quality of the questions.
Wow, Girardi’s son really wanted to get out of their.
Girardi’s son looked so uncomfortable lol
Seriously are the reporters still grilling him over winning the AL East. Jeez.
A lot of great things happened in this series, but the most satisfying was the dominance of Pettitte and Hughes. So many people questioned them entering the series and they answered the bell with flying colors.
The Yankees are still the best team in baseball, and will repeat.
so…same 25 man roster for ALCS?
I would imagine so, there really isn’t any match-ups with the other two teams that would need a change. If he took who he did in the first series, there really isn’t any changes at this point?
Forget Pedro.
The Yankees are the Twins fucking daddy. And this time, there wasn’t even any letting them score first stuff, they fucking took it to them from the get-go.
Good point by Curry about using Mo in game one as being a huge turning point in the series.
I love this team.
they were swinging it good tonight. Something about the pitcher seemed to raise their spirits.
Phillie, that is. Outshtanding.
Hughes was fucking brilliant tonight. Great, great performance by Phil.
Great win, no question about and im proud of Phil man like for real. I admit I was kinda nervous with him but hey showed why we all should of confidence in the guy. Dude demostrated some poise and great stuff.
So…what was that about rotation issues behind CC?
I believe all the discussion was how the Yanks could succeed with only 3 dominant starters.
Bow down to Master Hughes! Was I wrong about Duensing , he turned out to be a dunce !
Congratulations to the NY Yankees !
Duensing threw way too many hittable pitches in this game. Even the Mariners probably could’ve scored a couple runs off him tonight.
“Even the Mariners probably could’ve scored a couple runs off him tonight.”
OK, calm down. Let’s not get crazy, Vin.
Think the Twins would be up for a 2-game scrimmage early next week?
Gotta keep those bats sharp.
Twins. Such bad luck! Well that’s what happens when you’re spoiled by playing a division filled with teams like the Royals, Indians, and White Sox. I had a good feeling going into this series, especially after seeing the Twins cool off and get RAPED by the Blue Jays. Good ALDS for the Yanks. So proud of Phil. I missed seeing him in his dominant form.
Frankie Plierre said that Phil Hughes only threw 6 cutters tonight. That is pretty incredible that he was able to mix his pitches like that and not get stuck in that same mindset.
