Aide: President Madagascar, a man in Brazil is coughing.
President Madagascar: SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING!!!!!!
Pandemic reference?
Panic!
Alright, CC. Bear down and throw up a couple of quick frames, let’s keep this at 1. Beckett and that bullpen can’t survive all night.
All of this
Beckett with command of 5 pitches and a 94mph fastball.
Phil Hughes?
Creative ESPN. Never heard of face time before.
No Joe, CC has not been pitching good. He’s actually fortunate to only have a one-spot on him.
If he had Beckett’s zone, his line would probably look a lot better.
CC would need a far bigger zone than the one you allege Beckett is getting to look decent.
He just doesn’t have command tonight. Period.
That’s not really true, though. He’s had plenty of pitches that were just off the plate that have been called balls.
I know it’s convenient to say he’s been treated unfairly as some form of coping mechanism, but missing off the corners and watching line drives shot off the bat to me speak to a lack of command. Not a lot of movement on his pitches.
He hasn’t gotten a lot of the low strikes (three or four), but a comparison of Beckett’s PitchFX shows Beckett has just located his pitches better overall and the ump’s zone on the corners has been fairly consistent between the two.
Hopefully the victim complex died in the last thread
I was left alone in the last thread and I feel victimized.
Jeter showing off the range. His demise, it has been greatly exaggerated!
He fields 99.8 percent of the balls hit right at him!
wow, does Tek limp when he runs. Catcher is not an easy life
WHy do people call Bucholz laptops?
Because he got caught stealing stealing something like 30 laptops with his buddy when he was younger
http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=buchholz+laptops
He stole laptops when he was a high schooler.
http://www.kfdm.com/news/lumbe.....chool.html
seriously dude? Google
http://tinyurl.com/69j5cq5
Because he got arrested for stealing laptops from a school.
I really appreciate the YES network’s presentation of Yankee baseball. They really do a great job.
LOL, CC didn’t have obliques when he was in Clevelnd!
I didn’t think players had oblique injuries prior to March 2011.
See that conversation? Proof that Valentine and Hershiser can actually speak intelligently about baseball and add value to a sports broadcast.
Focus on that and less on talking about how Dustin Pedroia is the kind of guy you’d like to have your daughter get married to.
Exactly. Although I do on some level miss the moronic ramblings of Joe Morgan. It infused a level of humor not commonly seen in sportscasts.
I’m a girl an would never marry Pedroia call me shallow but 5’7 balding guys that look like rats are not attractive
Um… okay.
How about 6′ balding guys who look like Jason Statham? I’m hoping not to be written off entirely by the female gender in my advancing age!
What about his millions?
2 walks to Scutaro….
To respond to the previous thread, my point was just to engage the people on *this* board and say that I think people shouldn’t be bothered by the commentators rooting for the other team so much. They’re welcome to be bothered by it, and they’re welcome to comment on it, I just think they shouldn’t.
Did you see our responses?]
The rooting would be tolerable if they weren’t being so ignorant while rooting.
Yes, I saw the responses, but the reply function seems broken so I wrote back here. I agree, being ignorant is annoying. See my comment below about the interference call. As for glorifying players, it’s annoying, but everyone does it, including for Yankees players (like anyone who’s talked about Derek Jeter’s defense in the past 10 years).
No argument there. Most of the commenters around here ridicule the way Jeter gets fellated by the media as well, for what it’s worth.
That’s true. Anyway, let’s enjoy the game.
http://reid.mlblogs.com/scoreb.....anks_2.jpg
CC looks awful tonight. What a pro that he has only given up one run with this garbage he is throwing.
How many times can we walk the nine hitter? that’s ridiculous.
the 3-2 pitch looked like a strike
Disagree.
CC will get the same calls beckett gets at some point this game. I swear it will happen. I’m sure of it. Waiting…
/unrealisticexpectations
no shit huh? CC has been BEGGGGGGGING for that outside corner…
We r not intentionally walking the munchkin?
because fuck him is why…
By the way, it’s not like I’m never bothered by commentators. I made my comment right before the interference call, and it was pretty ridiculous for Schulman (I think it was him and not Valentine) to say that he’s literally NEVER seen that call before. I guess that means he doesn’t watch baseball. The other two were like, “Wait, never?” And then Orel tells about a specific time it happened that led to an all-time record being established. Ha.
So yeah, it does kind of suck when a commentator doesn’t seem to know anything about baseball, I agree with that.
Gritty K, please?
where was that
Not going to get K-Zone on that pitch?
you know the answer to that. but i won’t say it because i’ll just get accused of “every fan of every team thinks that yada yada bullshit…..”
WTF is this?? Where is the outside strike that Beckett gets?
How bad is Bobby Valentine?
Not getting the calls tonight either.
come on give CC a break
this strike zone is laughable
this inning should be over. Drunk Red Sox fan douche pricks
SHOW THE FUCKING GAME.
That was a strike for Beckett! CC is getting squeezed!
Zero calls for CC.
Pedroia: he’s magically delicious!
Did you see the screaming liner of a foul ball he hit? Amazing, the power he generates. He really hearted up and smashed that foul ball. Is “hearted” a verb? Can I use that that way? If not, it should be.
Sincerely,
ESPN
It doesn’t work this way but shouldn’t Beckett look like shit and CC lights out
tell you what. say what you want about A-Rod and his 30M for the next decade. Chavez is a good to very good defender (or was at one time, at least) and he makes me down right nervous out there. A-Rod makes the game look so easy, its sickening
SHUT DOWN REACTOR 4, shut it down!
OK kids. Show of hands…
who else has had an ass full of Brian Wilson’s beard?
raises hand. I don’t want to know anything about that beard.
this behind the plate view makes me wanna punch my TV
I thought Beckett sucked?
he does the Yankees are just sucking more right now
Why? He’s overrated, but he doesn’t suck.
It’s baseball. Someone high on LSD can pitch a perfect game and someone who is generally mediocre can tame a good lineup. Happens.
Ugh. Meant no-hitter.
Except Beckett has a 3.7 career FIP and 8.5 K/9, not exactly Armando Galaragga
I didn’t mean Beckett.
No major league starter sucks every outing.
Not even Javy.
Weren’t you also questioning how the Orioles and Jays were ahead of the Yankees and Red Sox the other night? Sometimes things that we don’t expect to happen, happen. That’s what makes this baseball thing (hell, this “life” thing) kind of interesting.
First time lawng time has a lot of “questions”.
You’ll get used to it.
I can’t believe Beckett has the audacity to shake off the greatest pitch caller of all-time.
Retire Posada.
Fucking Beckett is dealing. Sad face.
Somebody disrupt this effin’ narrative…
Plenty of time. It’s only 1-0.
Is the mercy rule in effect?
Feels like 10-0
If you put a TV in front of your treadmill and put on a video feed of a car dash camera going 60 mph, it feels like you’re going somewhere really fast.
You’re not, though.
Perception is reality for some. Reality is hard to confront.
Descartes was a bitch.
Isn’t a 94/89 fastball changeup split bad? I thought you wanted closer to 10mph between em.
No no. If your changeup is like your fastball, it just means you are strong, like a superhero.
Might wanna check the knicks game real quick
Melo!
I would, if that game mattered at all.
Dude, THANK YOU. I lost track of that game, and just got to catch the end. Sweet!
Let’s just put Beckett in the HOF already.
Did they install a new camera at Fenway and ESPN can’t help but use it?
the anus cam
Ron Guidry and his two pitches say Hi.
Beckett getting every call is bad enough. Beckett breaking off very effective curves … even worse.
Shit. Being down 1 run feels like more right now.
Shit. Being down 1 run feels like more right now.
#GregMath
Alec Baldwin is the MAN!
I want to take the time to remind everyone that while our hitters haven’t looked great and our pitching has been less than stellar, we’re only down one run with a significant amount of time left.
Thank you for listening to this public service announcement.
But the GregMath!
The Red Sox have had like, nine baserunners, but they have one run.
They must not be very clutch or gritty.
#MSMnarrative
The fuck is your problem? Don’t insult the heartiest team ever assembled in MLB history.
They’re obviously just giving the rest of baseball a headstart.
Before this season started I thought beckett was done for good.
Nice
Yikes. Shades of Carlos Pena.
That wasn’t clean, but Youk’s slide was fine? Okay.
(Also, this game sucks so far, but my God. Of course it takes a NYY/BOS series to make everyone go batshit insane.)
Yikes.
wow, thought it was his bat, but that was all hand. I have never heard knuckles “knock” like that!
What, what, wha? A Yankee pitcher hit a Red Sox player and not the other way around?
Just noticed CC always pitches on my birthday…
Dude, you’re going to be dead by the end of 2012.
CC’s strike zone is 2inches by 2 inches
Is valentine reporting from the Boston dugout?
from under Francona’s seat on the bench…
wow… Russell can frame the shit out of a pitch, huh
Sit down and shut up Youk
I don’t think Beckett meant to hit the batter, nor do I think CC meant to hit Adrian.
Much ado over nothing, in my view.
not as good a story line, unless we can “tea party’ the fans into believing there’s bad blood
how dare they call a pitch down the middle a called strike for CC.
Filthy.
Stupid umpire that was a gritty check swing
Wait, a pitch over the plate that Youk doesn’t swing at can be a strike? Does not compute…
Looked like he swung anyway.
That was a double-strikeout. Call Ortiz out, too.
It’s hard to believe we’re in the 5th inning and it’s already the most frustrating game I’ve seen/heard this year. The strike zone. Jeter/Gardner. The announcing is just….wow. Them scoring on the bullshit swinging bunt. But I still think we pull it out in the end.
I like this guy.
I like that Beckett’s at around 75 pitches, I think. The Yankees are one big, long inning into that Boston bullpen.
Unfortunately that bullpen is quite good.
Meh, I’ll take my chances against Jenks or Papelbon in a close game. They’re good relievers, no doubt, but these Yankees have gotten to both relievers in the past.
wow, Erick Aybar is on the DL with an oblique too… the year of the oblique strikes again. I blame KFS and the Double-Licious
KFC’
It’s certainly the injury du jour.
KFS?
2003 references to 2004 ratio is now 1:100.
Ha ok, we get pissed about 2004 being mentioned, but that 2003 shot has gotta annoy Red Sox fans.
Very true.
Maybe that’s why we signed all these veterans who were great in 2003. To rub it in their noses.
The day when lefties can get lefties with bad splits will be a grand day.
As much as I dislike this announcing, I will take it over the corpse of Joe Buck and senile Tim McCarver every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
There’s a subtle difference between rooting against the Yankees (Buck and McCarver) and rooting for the Red Sox (as this ESPN crew is).
a little bit high?
A LITTLE BIT HIGH?!?!
you thin Cameron gets in trouble by the Red Sox management for not having some sort of hommless mans facial hair or not arguing strike calls?
truely too classy for that uni…
hommless?
homeless. sorry, typing is not my strong suit (as I sit in front of a computer 50 hrs a week…)
He’s certainly not reaching the extra incentives in his contract that kick in when he looks like he belongs on a sex-offender website.
Pedroia’s brother could be his personal trainer.
On that note, Adrian Gonzalez’s facial grooming is way too precise. They’re going to have to steal his razor, or the Boston faithful will turn on him for being a “queeah”.
A “nation” of pink hats singing Neil Diamond calling others “queeah?” It makes no sense, unless it’s Red Sox nation.
Hey, we got a generous strike call! Thanks, blue.
Gameday says it was a strike.
Ha some Sox fans got excited over that Cameron popup. Idjits all of them.
Valentine acting like CC is some kind of rookie will-be.
CC is doing it with smoke and mirrors tonight.
I think the pitching coach needs to be given a glove so he can talk into it when he comes out to talk to the pitcher.
haha i liked it
totally, or at the very least a bandana or a flu mask
It really is funny that the pitcher talks into his glove, the catcher has his mask on talking and Rothschild is chatting away with no cover.
HUGE batter right here
great, Kevin Millar… the source of Red Sox Grit. He’s like the red neck holy grail…
And lo, the Sawx grit overfloweth the historic ballpark in the Fens.
CC Houdini
JD Drew cannot even think about that slider… that’s not on his radar, never has been.
go CC!
got his ass again. offense needs to pick it up right here. I hope Tex can get us started with 2 outs.
Bobby V doesn’t get his wishes as Drew K’s.
Screw you Bobby!
Gritty, Gutty, Big hearted performance by CC
Next 3 batters: .179, .219, .194
Brett needs to get on and start creating some havoc
Time to do some work, offense. Make them pay for all these LOB.
they look like the 2000-08 Yankees with all that LOB.
horrible bunt
And now we’re giving them outs.
somebody punch brett for bunting
He’s bunting for a base hit. Its better than watching strike 3 go by.
3-7 pitch out >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 1 pitch out
OH FUCK THIS DOUBLE PLAY ALREDDDDDY!
There are seriously few things more retarded than a bunt. Especially for Gardy, who was on fire yesterday.
That was Friday, no? I don’t think he was great yesterday.
0-5 yesterday.
It’s sad how badly Gardner bunts for a base hit.
Not a very good bunt; in my view, not a very good decision. Also, a nice camera view would improve my viewing experience. But hey, that’s too much to ask for from the worldwide leader.
Is anybody else sick of listening to Bobby V?
Retire Jeter.
Gardner’s terrible at bunting, why does he keep trying to do it? He’d probably have more success if he muscled up and swung for the fences every time out.
Because bunting is the right way to play the game, duh.
He’s gotta try it to improve. He will.
This sounds like a job for Spring Training.
He did practice it alot in ST I’m sure. beckett is tough tonight. It was a good idea that didn’t work out. Nothing else is so far tonight.
In a tight game as the leadoff hitter?
yes
Not against someone who’s 2 hitting you in a one run deficit.
Good time to try.
Agreed. Gardner should not bunt ever, ever again.
how predictable…
oh shit, they’re on about Pedroia again…
Has Jeter hit anything out of the infield this season?
I saw one liner against Minny, there might have been a 2b in there somewhere, but thats all I remember…
Right, I remember that one against Minny. Slim pickens otherwise.
I remember one instance…
double down the 3rd base line is the only thing that comes to mind
lets make Pedroia look better so these guys can blow him more… well done Yankees
Captain is anemic.
Batting 9th: Derek Jeetah
We can only pray
did they really just bitch about the strike zone…
oh THAT was a good looking pitch?!?!
Fuck you. Seriously, fuck you, shithead.
Something has to be done about the 1-2 hitters. Put Grandy and Swish up there already for christ sake.
no. there is DEFINITELY balanced commentary. No favoritism whatsoever….
Well the announcers are totally unconscious to any bias.
so they’re unaware of their hate/bias.
not sure if that is supposed to make it better.
just more ignorant
9 pitch inning or something?
On Beckett remember Javier Vazquez looked good a couple of times last season.
I’m so glad Cashman wouldn’t go four years….oh, wait
wow… Beckett has earned his extension tonight. well, according to bobb V at least
hhahahaaha I really got a kick outta that one.
That’s a relief. It means ARod’s future contractual obligations are no longer an albatross, because he earned his extension back in 2009 with that homer off Nathan.
The top of our order looks like a fucking Little League team today.
tex has really cooled off
He’s absolutely hopeless.
Ice, ice, baby.
The D is still warm
Ugh, hopefully the offense can wake up soon. Need to get CC a win
It would be sweet to pin the loss on Papelbon. They’d probably have him traded by Monday noon.
Beckett looks sharp but let’s get honest here. Gardner/Jeter/Tex/Granderson/Swisher/Jorge have looked like total shit besides a few HR’s.
Boone? we’re giving up already?
NO ANYTHING BUT BOONE LOGAN!
Well at least the Red Sox will be putting Varitek or Saltalamacchia out there every game.
So is A-rod available at all? I know he’s sick but can he give us an at-bat? Preferably for Jeter.
Report was he was not in the dugout. I wouldn’t want a guy with flu like symptoms there at all anyway. No use getting anyone else sick.
If he really has the flu, or anything like it, you do not want him swinging the bat.
Really Joe, going to bring in Logan in a 1-0 game?
Is it me or does every series in Boston go like this? First two games are near double digit scores, final game is 5 runs total at most.
Tex must have looked at his calendar and saw it was April.
Why can’t we get Scutaro and his .320 OBP out?
It’s baseball.
Feel free to get the 9 hole out once CC
That’s why you walk Scutaro
Damn you, Scutaro. Stop not-sucking at the least convenient possible times.
Scutaro had a .182 OBP coming into the game, so naturally he’s reached three times.
Way to be, Texy.
Now THAT’S how you do it Teix.
Nice leather.
Really starting to wish ill upon Mr. Valentine.
Great play Tex.
you think jeter took notice of that?
Wow what a play.
thatta boy, Tex
Its like a pile of concentrated grit has come up to the plate
My apologies if this topic has already been discussed…
But have we decided which announce team is worse? This or Miller / Morgan?
Anything that doesn’t have Morgan, Sutcliffe, or Waldman.
Oh. My. Gawd.
Morgan, Sutcliff and Waldman. I’m imagining them all together as a team. I might have to do an Airplane scene and set myself on fire.
Hmmm, trying to think what would be the worst, most annoying, three-person broadcast team I could construct.
Buck, Harrelson, Morgan?
Sutcliffe will be one of the three on my all-time hate list. Trying to narrow down to the last two will be difficult. Interestingly, I don’t think Morgan would make it. He’s probably just miss the cut.
Sounds like the jury is out for many fans here. Me? I think this incarnation is worse.
I found Morgan/Miller comically bad. This isn’t comedic, this is just bad.
Miller/Morgan was worse in a completely different way.
I actually liked Miller, so that’s one more announced that I like in the old team than I like in the new team. Of course, Miller was balanced out by Morgan.
Agree. Besides him butchering names I never had a problem with his actual game calling. Had a good voice too that didn’t wear on you after a while.
At least Miller & Morgan were funny…even if unintentionally.
Orel: “They didn’t measure his heart.” When speaking about scouts’ general distaste for Pedroia.
*throws up*
Man, I wish I could take Gold Gloves seriously.
…but that was a great play. Good to have a first baseman who deserves them.
*Shudders thinking of Giambi trying to make that throw*
/still has flashbacks.
with his gold thong hanging out of the back of his uni…
hottttt!
Pedroia’s locked in right now.
Bah.
He’s been developing lasers with the US Navy.
It was expected.
Fuck Dustin Pedroia
Duck Fustin.
I guess they are not allowed to retire Pedroia
ughhhhhhhh
Pedroia is killing me. I hate him with every fiber of my body.
No Boone please!
I have a horrible feeling about this AB
I CANNOT stand pedroia.
I can’t stand that rodent.
He has something Derek no longer has.
bat speed
He can move laterally without the aid of a Segway, too.
And a MVP. Lets not forget that!
CC in the Jim Kitty Kaat fielding position on the follow through.
I would have taken CC out before the Pedroia at bat.
Gotsta leave him in for the lefty though. No one wants Logan in there against A-Gon
Finish him, CC.
Come on CC, Big pitch here.
Joba v. Youk??? very excited to see that!
Get him CC I don’t want Joba/Youk with the bases loaded
I woulda went slider on Gonzalez there
I’d much rather Youk strike out vs Joba anyway
JOBALUSHI!
Don’t disappoint us, buddy.
Love it, please let that nickname stick.
Agreed, that is a damn good nickname.
Agreed.
He wont’t I know he won’t.
Not sure if I’m excited to see this Joba/Youk matchup or disturbed.
Ugh, Joba vs Youk with the game on the line and the bases full… dread.
Does anyone know if Joba actually had a beef with Youk? Seemed odd that he kept going after him.
Time to fart and grunt our way out of this!
Ok, Joba do ya thing man…
C’mon Joba, you do your best grunting and farting against Youk.
I know he’s our ace and pretty much our only dependable starter but he has iffy control today. No reason to go up to 120 but whatever. Solid outing.
At least Logan isn’t in.
No that happens after Joba drills Youk
Have the Yankees actually been to the plate in this game?
Damn…at least we got the Jobber monster coming in
(tips cap to our ace for soaking up innings and maintaining the game as winnable despite not having his primo stuff tonight)
The question is are you willing to give up a run to see Youk drilled in the head?
Again that would mean Boone in the game so no.
No. Without A-Rod and the ineptness of our 1-2 hitters, 2 runs will win this ballgame.
is thats an option?
A vineyard?
Gimme a break.
Prediction: Joba beans Uterus, I mean…no…I meant Uterus.
I’m not a fan of the classic Joe Torre bullpen move of bringing in a reliever with the bases loaded. And Girardi seems to be doing this a lot more often these days.
Is there another option? Let the starter implode? (Not that CC would do that, but you are implying it’s never a good idea to bring a reliever in with the bases loaded).
Perhaps you mean they are late in making the pitching change?
This is gonna be high drama.
Or not.
ESPN, EVERY Yankee isn’t popular in Boston.
Come on Joba, just get this doof out.
Good shit Joba.
ooof
Nice recovery Chavez.
ZOMBIES WEARING GLOVES.
JOBAAAAAAA
Chavez!!
What the hell happened to Chavy’s glove? Shaky as hell out there.
JOBA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Atta way to wiggle out of that one. With Chavez trying to give me a heart attack…
That ball was blistered. He kept his body in front of it. Good to have a good defender as our back-up third baseman.
Oh man, the bobble almost killed me. Ok, time to score!
on’t scare me like that Zombie. For the love of Mo.
Oh n… yes
Chavez kinda flashing leather.
No, not at all, Wil.
guy is gonna give me a heart attack…
Better than a spine attack, which Chavez has apparently been suffering from for the past 20 years.
Kinda, sorta not really…
9 hits through 6 innings and only 1 run.. The Yankees HAVE to make them pay for that.. come on offense wake up!
Woo, more RISP goodness. Lucky today; the team has looked pretty awful.
It’s nice to see it happen to the other guy, isn’t it?
Indeed.
/schadenfreude’d
Chavez seems rusty at third. Hopefully it’s that and not aging and the injuries.
(fistpumps)
Look at these unclutchy bastards. They can’t drive in runs with RISP, that clearly indicates they lack the skill to win close games and won’t amount to shit in the postseason.
#flippedthescript
well played, Mauer
If only they had bigger hearts.
Just remember it’s good to be the Yankees, assuming they can scratch across a run.
Ok-let’s put the dagger in these guys. Sox find new ways to lose in 2011.
1 and 8
1 and 8
What the crowd would be chanting in NY
If runs are to be scored it will have to be with our 4-9 hitters. Girardi will bring in Boone to face Drew so we may need a few runs.
fantastic handle you got there.
Where did you get those glasses?
Any relation to Todd Gaak?
4-5-6 REALLY need to do some damage here
Now we just need the bats to wake up. I can’t believe this is still only a 1-0 game.
This is going to be a sweet game to steal on a 2-run Cano double.
And needless to say, that’s not happening here.
Thank you, Eric Chavez!
I wouldn’t thank him. He shouldn’t have bobbled that. It was hit right at him.
too long a wait rusted up Becketts arm?
Joba Chamberlain: Clutch. That is all.
Apparently Dan Schulman uses the GregMath too.
Get Beckett out of this game.
wow. Cano got fooled there. Beckett is not THIS good. he looks like Cliff Fcking Lee!
Beckett DOES have the ability to be this good. His problem has usually been injuries.
And mechanics (which may be injury-related).
That 12 to 6 curve just made me go from 6 to 12.
Chuck up.
Granderson – clueless.
Another awful at bat.
he had 20 pitches in the first inning. and 93 right now.
ugh
Might as well tip our caps and call the Red Sox our daddies.
Not Grandy’s best game tonight.
It’s not anybody’s best night tonight.
except freakin Beckett.
i know beckett is good but two fucking hits? ugh
We need to get Beckett out of this game, even though its just one run..i dont have confidence in our offense right now
thank u Orel, now we all know what a 12-6 curveball is…
Nothing would make me happier right now than Beckett’s epic start being an L.
So what, two straight innings with less than 10 pitches taken?
And for the last time, this view needs to end.
I’m serious – who do I send a complaint to at ESPN?
if you’re talking about CF camera, thats one thing that is actually not ESPNs fault. its the dumbass Fenway setup
send it to phill mushnick
this game would had been tied if Chavez had moved up to 3rd on the passed ball. little things makes a difference.
i said the exact same thing when it happened
fuck this game so much, Beckett not even at 100 pitches
Why would a pitcher want a chain/necklace jumping up on his face during his delivery?
Swish with Jeterian at bats tonight.
If Granderson can’t hit righties we’re fucking boned
Meh, it’s one game.
he hasn’t hit hardly anyone so far. i said if meaning if he ends up not being able to right righties. I didn’t mean it as he can’t hit righties.
He needs to overcome his fear of RBIs, too.
Stupid stat with which to measure aptitude. Moving on.
Oh, no, friend. I too fear the RBI.
The Reserve Bank of India is not to be taken lightly. Their wanton devaluation of the rupee only exacerbates an already tenuous geopolitical climate in South Asia.
Besides, they’ll overtake China.
Yeah, I hate keeping track of hits being knocked in, too. I forgot the object was to score the least runs.
Stay simple, good sir.
Stay nerdy, my man.
well, this entire line up is allergic to not being shitty tonight, so…
Sad trombone.
At this rate, Beckett is going to throw a fucking shut out. Jesus Christ…
Granderson is shit. Lets get Johnny Damon up in here NOW.
If he’s unavailable, maybe we can get Ken Griffey Jr., right? Right? PRETTY PLEASE!
Let’s pull Manny out of retirement. I hear he can hit righties.
I want someone who can hit. (something granderson and gardner cannot do)
Lol.
It’s April.
Manny!!!!
pst….Damon is with Tampa Bay. what makes you think the Rays will trade him to the YANKS (their divison rival)?
D+. Would have given a better grade last year.
Well I’ve had an awfully shitty night at work and still have 2 1/2 hours left.
At least I’ve been able to watch the game and stay entertained by it.
SON OF A BITCH!!!
I’ll be calling you at 12:59 am with a problem that will take at least 90 minutes to solve by phone.
Wow, someone remembers what I do? That’s cool.
But I’ll probably be on another call. Or making sure I don’t get another call. Tee hee.
He gives good Orel

Micheal Imperioli just made me thirsty for Tequilla. damn he’s good
Micheal ImperioliTequila just made me thirsty for tequila. Damnhe’stequila is good.Fixed.
Mmm, Imperioli Tequila…
Co-sign. And no training wheels, please.
The Yanks have been so bad at the plate tonight I haven’t heard a good Yankees suck chant.
So much passion for the Celtics…. that didn’t exist before the 2007-2008 season. Trust me, I was there.
well, yeah… that would be the Antoine Walker era.
(pictures the Dino Radja era)
(smiles)
Is arod in the dugout?
whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
foul ball
If I was Theo, I’d give Beckett an additional 4 year extension. That’s just me though…
Throw strikes.
Can we please give Gardner some muscle milk?? 5 home runs last year??? Get the fuck outta here
I will take ‘hits’ from Gardner right now.
Seriously. If he tries to bunt one more time, I’ll plotz.
Manny didn’t quit on Boston!!!!!
huh?
Asked to leave, his 1.000 OPS so far in that year was gone and it made me smile.
Good shit Manny.
Manny quit on everyone, now that he’s no longer with the Red Sox he’s the anti christ.
He hit .347/.473/.587 in July in 22 games before he was traded. The Red Sox played the media like a fiddle to propagate this myth.
Or, if you’d like .314/.432/.560 in the 42 games before he was traded.
Can A-rod give a Kirk Gibson-esque moment. (admittedly regular season)
Yeah, remember when Manny was considered one of the best right handed hitters of all time? He sure proved to be ordinary.
Yes, damn Manny for being ordinary for the last two years of his career, long after his prime was over. No Hall of Fame player would ever do that.
I thought HoF’ers were both perfect and immortal. Silly me.
That wasn’t the question, Buster.
Yeah, he totally side-stepped that question.
Major offensive ineptitude…total embarassment…good thing there’s an offday tomorrow so they can get their heads out of their asses
Buster is an idiot for voting for McGwire.
Buster is an idiot
for voting for McGwire.Jeez, did he run over your dog?
throw strikes
Wish ESPN would actually focus on the game and the potential of it getting out of hand rather than if Manny deserves a HOF nod..
Pedroia should be God commentary or Manny HOF debate with an actual voter?
For fucks sake someone give us a clean inning
Hall of Fame votes are outrageously stupid. “Vote of the heart”?
Jo-So-Mo
did you see Shaugnassey up there? I want to punch him in the bag. I really do
BA and homers. Solid analysis.
Boone in the pen. Can’t wait…
Crap, Logan warming up again…
Did a man that can’t walk without limping just try to bunt?
I’m so tired of this st00pid steroids/Hall of Fame crap.
Hank Aaron used amphetamines. Stop glorifying the past.
Whatever.
I’ll take your argument further – I want all players to be more juiced up than the Kool Aid man.
Seriously.
uhhh…. when did the Rays say that??
revisionist history. its how ESPN rolls
The Sox need a run?
Soooo according to Bobby V., Manny didnt just quit? Is Bobby Valentine making up the narrative?
So um, this is working well.
…is it just me or has Granderson been playing pretty deep today? (It might very well be just me, which is why I’m asking.)
Ughhh, come on Joba…
Praise Jeebus that fat ass Ortiz was on second.
Bear down, Joba.
Good lord, now he’s going to walk in a few runs…
NO NOT BOONE LOGAN. GTFO WITH THAT JOE.
Joba is about to get some DP action.
I guess you can call it that.
Game
Joba being Joba.
Game ovah…
This is a game we do/did not deserve to win.
Finally, put us out of our misery.
Joba meltdown, so predictable
Yeah, just like you predicted publicly earlier in the thread.
(scrolls up, looks, is confused)
our bulletproof bullpen’s fatal flaw? a lack of guys (save for Mo) who can put it together on back to back nights.
Or not.
And with the offense struggling, that could be the game.
Yea well, how lucky can you be of course they’re gonna score.
It’s Marco Scutaro. Marco fucking Scutaro.
(falls off tightrope)
Well, this was inevitable. No way they get so many guys on base and not score more.
And that’s the ballgame. Way to get destroyed by Marco Scutaro.
i really hate boston.
fuck this game, Logan coming in, I’m done
Sure, let Scutaro reach a-fucking-gain.
Joba straight up terrible tonight.
Barring a sudden Beckett collapse, that might’ve been the game right there.
Ugh, Boone Logan. Please DFA this doofus after he blows the game wide open.
Boone Logan, the one guy you can always rely on to disappoint you in 2011, and I’m being optimistic.
White flag time.
Boone Logan’s new name.
This game is not over. What are you all, Mets fans?
It’s like the past 150 years of baseball never happened, and they’ve never seen a Yankee team overcome a three-run deficit.
But Beckett is dealing! And they have Bard and Jenks and Papelbon!!
DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever bro. Game was over in 3rd when it was still tied
#GregMath
If we had A-Rod and our 1-2 hitters weren’t trash I’d agree with you. And Boone is coming into the game. It just feels like it’s over.
Feelings? Screw feelings, six outs with an offense that while slumping is clearly one of the best, if not the best, in the league and three runs? Totally doable. I’m not saying we’ll win, but to raise the flag now is preemptive.
It just feels like it’s over.
Here we go with this “feeling” crap again.
It might feel like it’s over… but it’s not.
Seriously, it’s not. Go look for yourself, you’ll see. They’re still playing and the game is still being televised. Nobody has left the park. They’re not recycling the bats to be used in particleboard.
If we had managed more than 2 hits today, I’d be a little more optimistic.
Baseball is as much about the past as it is the present.
But always look towards the future. –Duck Dodgers
Damiit….joba!!!!
Nice collapse, Joba.
Time to watch the last twenty minutes of THE KILLING. AMC FTW!
you just watch, boone logan is going to be so dominant on the mound the officials actually take away the Sox’ 3 runs.
i really am trying to understand girardi and his pen management
so glad we have an amazing bull pen.
Marco Scutaro…seriously? Everything about this game has been fucking irritating.
Man the Yankees fucked that guy up, along with the injury he just struggles…
Joba couldn’t locate, pretty obvious in the Youkilis at bat… but hey he’s our 7th inning guy right Joe?
He’ll probably say after the game that Joba shouldn’t have pitched in the 6th and that threw his timing off. Shouldn’t Soriano have been brought in once two runners reached? No, too logical for Joe.
The problem is these stupid designated innings he’s giving the pitchers. If theres a situation that the Yankees need to get out of late in the game, Soriano should be in. Joba’s first pitch to Youkilis missed the location by about 2 feet. His second pitch was right in Youk’s red zone which told me, well Yanks got lucky there. By the time Joba walks the second guy I would have Soriano in there. Problem is, he’s out 8th inning guy.
He threw 2 pitches to Youkilis, and I fail to see where you said Joba shouldn’t be in there before the inning started.
Boone Logan? Glad to see we have conceded the game.
It’s such a warm fuzzy feeling to have a $12 million relief pitcher in the bullpen who doesn’t pitch in a key situation.
Sorry but he’s “the 8th inning guy.”
BAD JOBA! NO TWINKIES!
In other news, I’m so glad the Yankees proved they can win without A-Rod today. #MSMNarratives
As many of you know, Boone Logan is my favorite pitcher of all time. So this is a great way to end my weekend.
I’d like a pound of whatever it is you’re on, please.
At least I’m taking off next Sunday night so I will avoid potential double aggravation.
…did Logan just retire a batter?
We need Robertson for Pedroia
very brave “Yankees Suck” chant…. now….. after getting slaughtered yesterday and looking decidedly meh until like 5 minutes ago…
In the Friday night game they waited until the end when Papelbon had already retired somebody.
Wow, I hate all the Giradi bitching in here bit I gotta say he’s blown this game.
Because he was swinging the bats, too, right?
How did he blow this game?
I don’t care for Girardi but we have 0 runs. Soriano should have came in once 2 men reached and that was his only mistake. He also shouldn’t have given A-Rod the flu.
oh shit. now its curtains. Garcia is up in the pen
Freddy Garcia? you’re fucking kidding, right?
FREDDY GARCIA? ARE WE EVER PLANNING ON PITCHING SORIANO?
Girardi is a retard.
A LOOGY vs a red hot Pedroia.
Please don’t walk Pedroia, I can’t handle that
I just died a little
This comment might have been stated earlier but it needs repeating. I will never bad mouth A-Rod for as long as I live. Seeing him out of the lineup has been awful.
Just walk him
Did anyone really expect to win this series? Regardless of their record-to-date, they are always tough on the Yankees early in the season. It’s later on when the shit hits the fan.
i did. especially with CC coming in today and the offense they put up yesterday.
Next person who says “and that’s the ballgame” before the 3rd out in the 9th should be slapped. I just wish I could find a way to do it through the computer.
Comment of the night.
And if it is indeed the ballgame can they slap you back?
No, because they were still wrong.
I think that’s a feature in Windows 8.
Ball game over…
Loone Bogan v Pedroia?! really?
boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Peddy’s too gritty to take the intentional walk!!!!
boooOOOOooOOoOO!!!!!11!!!!1!
Logan getting the job done??? I don’t feel so good, guys.
Boone logan just got two outs wow
Wow! I honestly thought Boone would have walked in a run there.
I’m ready for the O’s Tuesday. Nunez at short will be fine. Maybe Derek will catch the flu.
Game over, wrap it up folks. The Yankees have never come back from a 3 run deficit against the Sox.
Ever.
Ever ever. Never. Fact. Can’t argue with science.
to get 3 runs we will need to find a way to get more than the 2 hits we have mustered up over the last 21 outs.
Technically that’s not true.
two hits? That’s all we got, two God damn hits??
Monty: You can’t say that!
Harry: Doesn’t matter, nobody’s listening.
with no Arod, a geriatric Jeter, and April Tex… it’s an uphill climb
Then let’s stop pitying ourselves and get to climbing.
wow. Boon with the effective inning
Let’s go, kids. We can score four runs here. We’re the gawd dang, NY Yankees.
It’s called Winning. We’re relentless.
They may have grit…we have tiger blood.
I call for an end to any and all Charlie Sheen references.
To be clear, I was not referencing Charlie Sheen. I was referencing the Alec Baldwin/Yankee commercial.
Boone doing his job? does not compute
who saw that great bullpen management from Girardi
He pulled a double bluff! Genius!
Can’t waste that Boone Logan inning. If the LOOGY can do his job, so can this offense.
Yanks hitters are wonky too
+1
It’s only three runs. Let’s do this.
They have to get Beckett out this inning. Can’t have three more wimpy at-bat.
WIMP WIMP… JORGE!
surprise of the night for me is that Beckett is still in there.
So much for that idea.
Man, it feels like we’re losing this game 3-0 right now.
LOL
IETC
Jonathan was right about you.
I’ll take that as a compliment.
Beckett is cold, lets get some baserunners!
Its really frustrating how bad some of our hitters look atm.
that was the stupidest swing I’ve ever seen.
Ever? Fo-eva-eva? Like all time? WE HAVE WITNESSED HISTORY, FOLKS!
WOW WE HAVE A JACKASS IN THE ROOM, WOOHOO LOOK AT YOU BUDDY
I can’t hear you when you’re yelling. Don’t be a hysteric, it’s particularly unbecoming on the internet.
So if Posada struggles for a few more weeks, when does he start bitching that he needs to catch?
Tuesday
Posada – please stop taking at bats away from Montero and leave quietly.
I want me one of those fan caves.
jorge….not good
wow we just can’t touch Beckett tonight
jorge looking fine
CGSO?
Yeah probably.
Pedroia is too gritty, I’m gonna explode.
C’mon, Chavez…fuckin’ Communist.
Chavez runs like he just got entered from behind…
great, so in the 9th we have 1-2-3 up…
too bad the 1-2 hit like 8-9
Jeez after the 20 pitch first inning, Beckett’s only at 103 pitches now. He’s been really good.
I think they are going to let him throw a complete game
Good gravy.
What happened to Beckett? When did he become good?
Also, the Yankees look like they don’t want to be there.
great inning
wha? seriously it would not be nearly as frustrating if they would at least work a count or 2…
just brutal to watch
Seems like the Yankees stopped working the count after the fifth inning.
Rally?
Oh no, time for the 3 closers!
Re: The Fan Cave. Does the guy get paid? I don’t know that it would be that enjoyable being forced to watch all 162 games.
Yeah, that.
Just give me the A/V gear and let me put it in my home. I’ll thank you profusely. I don’t want to be your freaking puppetshow.
try 4860 games. and if you were married, you’d understand how fcking sweet that is…
I am married, and I understand how NON-sweet that is.
I like my house. I like my wife. I like not having people stare at me through lucite.
Word, is it really that cool to be forced to go to the Man Cave everyday rain or shine? I hope that dude can sell the ‘privilege’ to watch all those games.
I’m taking my dad’s plan of not getting married until I’m 39. Got 16 years left of freedom!
There’s just no scouting report on Scutaro, eh?
Freedy!!!!
Welcome, Chief
Welcome to the Yankees Freddy.
Ok, Freddie’s in. THAT is the Don’t Care Flag. Who’s next Silva?
Why is Garcia in?
With an off-day tomorrow using Soriano here is smart.
So he’ll get actual work before the 15th.
And a three run game in the 8th is the time to do it?
Garcia to the 8th?
Yankees want to get back to NY and enjoy the 75 degree day tomorrow. Will have to let out their frustrations on the O’s.
It would be nice to see the pitchers throw some strikes.
might as well put Freddy in to get some work, at this point 0-3, 0-15 same difference
Way to challenge Youlk with your 89mph nothing ball.
Yay, lead-off walk by Freddy.
Not a good start, Fredro.
Not over, but not looking pretty either. Beckett gave up single up the middle to Chavez, and a sawed-off, flare single to Cano. He was on tonight folks. Just had it working.
Let’s hope Anus-Mouth comes into the game for batting practice.
And of course I benched Beckett and played Sabathia in my money league tonight. Blegh.
This is all your fault
We need “the Yanks will bring the tying run to the plate” thread.
yes please
yikes. good thing I sat Ortiz tonight. he peppered that thing
I sat him for Arencibia… who didn’t play…
Wow, just a terrible, terrible game, especially the last three innings.
Love the gritty totally unnecessary Youilis slide there.
His brain shut off. It had been too long without any tasty sabretooth tiger meat.
apparently Yankee pitchers also, dig the long ball.
I should have gone with plan B tonight, pull out my fingernails with pliers
There’s a good preview of things to come with Freddy..
Ballgame’s not over yet, folks! We can easily score 4 in the 9th with only 2 hits thus far and no A-Rod.
Get the bases loaded and PH ARod in.
Hard ≠ impossible
Tommie, it’s never happened before, so why try?
It is waving the white flag since no one could expect Garcia to be sharp ater not pitching for 2 weeks.
I’ll agree with this from Girardi’s perspective.
Great, Freddy Garcia comes in a stinks it up. I can barely stand watching this horseshit
I didn’t want Soriano to come to try to keep it at three runs anyway.
Joe wants to save him for that non-existent game tomorrow
Soriano is supposed to show off his fastball to Girardi’s son’s little league team tomorrow. You can’t expect him to pitch in back to back days. THINK OF THE CHILDREN
Garcia’s back! And he needs work!
/Mr.T’d
Soriano is only the 8th inning guy when theres a 4 run lead. He doesn’t make enough money to pitch in a game like this.
if you know Cameron is bunting. go in high and tight…
Well, this is fun.
Orel wants to go oral on the sox lineup.
3 games in Fenway and Rivera and Soriano didn’t throw a single pitch.
didn’t have a save to hold/record.
No but we did have a time in the 7th inning when Joba was struggling and we were still only down 1 run.
Really, Papelbon with a 4-5 run lead… dumb.
#5th starter.
great… Paplbon warming up so we can hear from the crack announce team about how fking awesome he is too
His crazy-man face and fist pump are worse.
Seriously, Chavez looks like he’s moving in slow motion at third. Trying to avoid injury?
At least he can hit, won’t see him at 3B too often hopefully.
i just think he’s slow. you are used to seeing a greek god on 3rd. Chavez is a nice player, just not A-Rod
I always thought of Arod as more of a centaur.
Thanks for the out because he needs all the help he can get.
Bash Freddy all you want, but he hasn’t pitched in a game situation since ST.
It’s not like we had someone dependable in the 8th.
If Soriano had to be called in after reduced injury in a 4 run lead how come he can’t come in a try not making the 3 run lead stay that way?
That’s a manager issue not a Freddy issue.
Skipping the heart of the Red Sox bullpen…. straight to the sphincter.
(golf clap)
Thank you. That was for you, tommie.
Varitek is a douchebag
No shit. He wanted to fight A-Rod with his catcher’s gear still on.
Papelbon is up. There is a chance.
Carlos Silva and Kevin Milwood are giggling to themselves right now.
The upside to this loss is that there will be no reason to watch ESPN. It will make the viewer feel quite gross after the 52 minutes devoted to the rebirth of the Red Sox…. Sorry Tiger.
The only thing worth watching now is the epic Papelbon-Jeter battle.
A first pitch ground out?
Don’t think he can catch up to anything.
lol, if Jeter hits a homer I will change my username to something horrible forever
BonersRock69….
Please Jeter!
I agree to it
Well, no name change, but it would have been funny.
A three-pitch strikeout?
Reply fail
what was wrong with that pitch
Hmm. That pitched looked like it missed right down the middle.
Am I imagining things? Or did a pitch right down the middle get called for a ball?
alright Papeldouche…do your doody
Blood in the water.
There is nothing in baseball that annoys me more than the obligatory “Yankees suck” chant. It shouldn’t bother me but there are times that it turns me into angry Yankees fan. And that’s not pretty.
It’s the rally cry of losers. Let them have it.
guys oddly reminiscent of the CC 2 hitter that we lost to the twins. do they have soriano type meltdown…
Let’s hope.
Not with who’s coming up 1-2 they don’t.
shipping out to Boston is an awesome song but the fact that Papeldouche uses it is lame
Freddy Garcia has more effective pitches than poor Phil.
Sad to say.
Garcia is used to pitching with no stuff, Phil is not.
I laughed.
Bodes poorly for Phil.
This would be a great time for the Yankees to score 5 runs.
I don’t know how that music pumps up a stadium that much…
Seriously that’s some awful shit.
they’re sheep, man. that and sweet caroline…
It’s Boston, everyone’s Irish.
Gotta tip your hat to Beckett, he was lights out tonight. Let’s hope that a) Tito goes to Papelbon and there are hilarious results or b) we can destroy the O’s.
(reluctantly tips cap)
I didn’t think he had that in him.
Or both?
Our only hope is that Papelbon walks/hits the first three batters and Cano hits a grand slam
How about the Papelbon pause in front of the camera man leaving the gate.
“Go ahead and celebrate in April, we’ll dance in October.” Stupid Sox fans
yay white kids with no rhythem dancing to “Shipping off to Boston”… see the irony? b/c they’re from Boston?
fcking shoot me. and fck Sweet Caroline too
Papelbon’s playing to his base, baby.
Even bringing the tying run to the plate would be sweet…
how bout just some hits.
Apparently commercial time means nothing to ESPN as they decide to show Papelbon running in from the bullpen in a non-save situation. That there is your proof of ESPN’s bias. They don’t even care about the $75K+ for the spot.
and if it was Enter Sandman?
yeah, you woulda seen that Ford Commercial a little quicker.
Major league baseball managers have become one of the least innovative professions on the planet. In game strategy has really become not much more intuitive than what assembly line workers do.
It’s amazing especially considering how much money they get paid.
Alright, high pitches called for strikes.
*yawn*
and low & away too… that was a fun AB.
I think something just popped behind my left eye
Papelbon’s giving me hope.
congrats on your 2nd win rofl… go celebrate.
But if you talk to a Sox fan, you’ll hear something like, “Yeah, but both of them were against the YANKEES!”
No need to say that.
Ugh. Let’s not stoop to Boston’s level. There’s no need for that.
So Yankee catchers paint their right hand fingernails white. Sox catchers use white tape on the fingers to show the signs.
Key aspect of this game.
Let’s hope for the non-save collapse.
fuck you Brett, seriously
I guess Papelbon gets 10 inches off the plate while Garcia can’t get on down the middle.
Does Brett take pitches at the batting cage too?
So we’re changing the rules of strikes for Papelbon?
This ump wants to go home. Nice strike zone, moron.
Nice expanding strikezone.
No K zone on that last one?
Eh borderline strike. Not the worst call ever.
Keep looking Brett.
Can we please get a leadoff hitter who will swing at strike 3 right down the middle?
Looks like Jeter’s groundballs are a bit more groundbally tonight.
Oh come on. I was kidding.
http://riveraveblues.com/2011/.....nt-1855394
Fuck you too Jeter, be a little more predictable please
Vintage Jeter AB. Swings at first pitch when down by 4 runs and weakly grounds out to 2B
Count me officially of the Gardner bandwagon as of right now.
Like I said late last year, he’s got to prove he can do it again, and so far he is not.
Not Gardner’s fault the strikezone doubled in size.
prop bet for next time Jeter gets a hit that isn’t one that sneaks thru the infield?
April 26th.
it’s bedtime….
So now our shortstop is Cesar Izturis minus the defensive ability
if only he was making the same salary. Wait-Nunez is!
Tek really struggles back there…
I will say Papelbon looks much better this year, Beckett still had quite a few pitches from 88-91 while touching 94.
Where’d the strike zone go?
THAT WAS IN THE FUCKING DIRT
HIT THE DIRT. HIT THE DIRT. HIT THE DIRT.
lol what the fuck was that? not even close
Great. We went to Boston and woke them up. Oh, well. Back tomorrow…errr, Tuesday.
Agreed. Yanks just gave them CPR.
ARE YOU F’ING KIDDING ME. THAT WAS F’ING LOW.
wow…. your officiating crew tonight supplied by ESPN
what the fuck was that?????
That looked like a ball. But meh, we were outplayed entirely.
i don’t usually bitch about balls and strikes, but this was goddamned ridonculous…
Shitty call..
LOL! That was on the ground! What a joke.
Oh, fuck you.
Seriously, fuck you, blue. That’s just ridiculous.
Ump promptly runs over to give Papelbon a BJ.
More than the pitching, we need to figure out what happens with 1 and 2 hitters. Jeter cant seem to catch up to a 93 mile an hour fast ball.
Hopefully that was the worst homeplate umpire of the year. Seriously pissed me off all night.
Horrendous call to a horrendous game. Way to give the Sawx some life, boys.
Still 2-7.
Still 152 games to go…
So why exactly is game nine the one that gives them life then?
Our illogical human impulsive need to ascribe deep narrative and meaning to essentially random benign events?
That’s deep, man. Yeats?
Dick Van Patten.
Whatever happened to protecting the plate with 2 strikes on you??
not swinging at balls in the dirt happened. If Tex never swings at that pitch again, I’ll be thrilled.
If he swings there everyone curses at Tex for swinging over a curveball in the dirt…
He couldn’t have even connected with that on a safety swing, the pitch was practically in the dirt by the time it crossed the vicinity of the plate.
Yankee theme song for 2011 should be “Dr. Feel Good” by the Crue
lol thats hilariously bad, can’t wait to see brooks baseball tomorrow
wow that last strike out on Tex was horseshit. That game was Youkilis Ugly, not gonna get too worked up though. 2-7…big whoop
So…the home plate umpire wanted to get home and drink his Ensure, right?
158-4
I’m predicting 85-77. Starting pitching is terrible and the Yanks have blown 2 decent games from CC.
Not that it matters, but if that was a strike, Bobby V is an intelligent man.
Not that it matters but does Girardi EVER come out to support his players on bogus calls?
I hated that last year and he is unchanging this year.
Too anxious to grab his binder and go home.
In the running for the worst strike 3 call ever.
Nice. We drop two to a team that couldn’t buy a win at the monkey Olympics with a bunch of bananas.
In Boston’s defense, it looks like both the Rangers and Indians aren’t all that bad.
I’d rather wallow in the bile of my negativity.
Fair enough. Enjoy that.
I’m disappointed I didn’t see any “Statement Game” references tonight.
Playoff preview!
Mark Teixeira’s AB:
http://www.brooksbaseball.net/.....type=3.gif
Hopefully, we all can handle losing 2 out of 3 in Fenway like rational human beings. It won’t be the last time in the history of the universe that happens.
The “Yankees Suck” chants are the pettiest goddamn thing I’ve ever seen in sports. I hate those fans so damn much. Sorry.
Hopefully, we all can handle losing 2 out of 3 in Fenway like rational human beings.
Oh ye of too much faith.
I just found huge chunks of sky on the ground in my backyard.
We’ve woken the sleeping giant. If we had swept them, there was literally no possible way that they could make the playoffs under any scenario, but now that they’ve won twice against us, they’re winning the whole thing and we’re missing the playoffs. These games meant that much. That much.
Always trust the GregMath.
I was stationed in the Bay Area for the past 6 yrs – and listening to the Oakland fans, who are outnumbered by Yankee fans 3-1, chant “Yankees Suck” is the most pathetic scene I’ve ever seen.
That fucking umpire should be censured.
It might not have made a difference in the outcome, but it just lends credibility to the Fenway factor.
9th inning home plate umpires often play to the Boston crowd. God-awful.
And yes, I’ve wTched enough to know the difference. that happens in Fenway way more than anywhere else.
Maybe Mo has gotten it a few times, but not to the effect it happens in Boston. Awful. Just awful.
http://sports-law.blogspot.com.....alogy.html
yep. there ya go.
i’m sure it’s even more pronounced with Fenway being smaller and the crowd being more of a fishbowl park. it’s much much louder on average.
I’m astounded, especially in this economy, blind and stupid people who have the inability to read and be consistent are getting paid 6 figures.
That pitch wasn’t as bad as the camera and Varitek’s awful framing made it seem.
I respectfully disagree. it was outside and in the dirt.
http://bit.ly/eA6aTm Look at pitch number 6
or here too: http://twitpic.com/4jhmx7
It seemed like he was giving pitchers the outside corner with lefty batters, but not the outside corner to righty batters.
Hope the Rays can win a series at Fenway. They’ve got the starting pitching to.
No chance. The Rays have negative offense right now.
I hope the Yankees can win the series at home. Zach Britton is looking like a world beater right now.
and Hughes is pitching the game BEFORE Britton…
Britton’s not pitching next series. They’re skipping him because they don’t him in Yankee Stadium.
http://www.brooksbaseball.net/.....8;s_type=3
