Game 28: No Curveballs
ByIt’s no secret that the Yankees have been having trouble against curveballs this year, hell I’ve written two posts about it in the last week. Thankfully they don’t have to worry about that tonight since Tigers’ starter Max Scherzer is a pure fastball-changeup-slider pitcher that has never thrown anything remotely resembling a curve. So be happy for that. Scherzer’s season has been a mixed bag of really really good starts and really really bad ones. Hopefully he’s due for the later. Here’s your starting nine…
Derek Jeter, SS
Curtis Granderson, CF
Mark Teixeira, 1B
Alex Rodriguez, 3B
Robinson Cano, 2B
Nick Swisher, RF
Jorge Posada, DH
Brett Gardner, LF
Frankie Cervelli, C – second game in four days, it’s already begun…
Freddy Garcia, SP
Tonight’s game will air on YES at 7:05pm ET, but if you’re in the city, come hang out with Ben and I (and plenty of others) at Foley’s (33rd St. between 5th & 6th Ave.) to bitch about the game and what not. Enjoy.

Day game tomorrow – Girardi doesn’t want to mess with Burnett’s mojo with Martin.
Out of curiosity, did you have another name here before appropriating my handle for your own uses?
Yes, timmyschmidtjuancharles a/k/a Logical Downside the Younger
… so, no, then?
It’s King of the Troglodyes or however you spell it.
Giardi is in love with Cervelli.
/falsenarrative’d
Yes I didn’t quit mean it literally you know. Cervelli really makes no difference.
Girardi is in love with Cervelli. Why can’t he just play once a week? I’m confident in the fact that Martin is about 100% and can deal with the regular stresses of catching.
Anyway, the Yanks should have a shot against Scherzer. Just need patience and a few timely hits.
Might be because there’s a day game tomorrow.
Martin shat on the Dodgers for using him too much.
Martin shat on the Dodgers for using him too much.
Wait, Joe Torre used a guy too much, to the point it diminished his health/effectiveness?
:: head explodes ::
Can we also blame Torre for not forcing Jeter to sit down once in a while (especially while injured)?
“Wait, Joe Torre used a guy too much, to the point it
diminisheddestroyed theirhealth/effectiveness?careers”Fixed
I was being nice.
Yeah, mean would have been mentioning that Torre’s overuse turned Proctor into an alcoholic.
If only he could pick up the bottle to his mouth, but since they had to amputate Proctor’s right and oddly his left (pretty sure Proctor threw lefty after every game for Torre’s entertainment) he has to drink his Black Label through a straw.
Torre’s overuse turned Tanyon Sturtze crappy.
[Ed. note: Tanyon Sturtze may have already been crappy prior to this, so keep that in mind.]
After 2000, Torre decided that having a deep bench was for wussies.
Considering Torre’s use of the pen the Yanks could have had a 15 man bench with the 3 relievers he trusted while the other two sat for show.
After 2001, Torre dedicated each offseason to refining and ultimately perfecting his “sleep with your eyes open so nobody can definitively prove you’re not paying attention” style of managing that he would use for the rest of his days in the big leagues.
That bar meet up sounds like a blast and if anyone is going they should ask why Jonah feels the Red Sox are that much superior to the Yankees (5 W+). While their rotation is more solid the offense and the relief of both teams is a wash at best?
I’m trying to ask it!!
Since Jonah’s a Rays fan (grew up an Expos fan but you know what happened there), and probably didn’t see the Rays winning the division, he went with the far lesser of two evils (in his mind).
So, if you’re Sandy Alderson, what do you demand from the Giants for Reyes?
Keep in mind Bumgardner is off-limits. Jonathan Sanchez might be as well.
Zack Wheeler and Gary Brown (maybe another prospect). Wheeler is still a few years away from making an impact with the big club, as is Brown. I give up Brown only if I can sign Reyes to a long-term contract.
If Reyes helps them make a deep run in the playoffs, they might try to sign him. Considering their lack of offensive talent, Reyes in his prime would be worth it for them. Currently they’re at 120 million…their window is now with their pitching inching toward free agency in 2-3 years.
If there was any team capable of being the Yankees of the West, it’s probably the Giants, especially on the heels of their title. They probably have the biggest, most fervent, and most affluent fanbase of all West Coast teams, even the Dodgers, Angels, and Mariners. And they’ve got the best stadium already.
JMHO.
Miguel Tejada. That sort of veteran leadership is exactly what the Mets need.
I like the way you think. Maybe they can sucker Sabean into giving up Barry Zito too; you need his calming steadiness at the top of your rotation.
Really, they just need Jesus.
Not Montero, either.
Really, they just need Jesus.
And if Jesus could bring a few hundred million dollars with him, that would be great too.
LOL I was just about to make the same joke with Barry Zito.
“A Rotation anchored by Johan and Zito could win a decade worth of titles……” in 2002
sigh
Apparently they’re willing to fork over Zack Wheeler to head up a package of prospects that might be a couple of years away from the bigs.
Alderson: “Fork it over, you bitch!”
Rays 0 Blue Jays 2
I hope the Jays don’t need a closer today…
I remember reading an article about how Sherzer liked to cross dress and wear lipstick during college. I don’t remember where I read it but I just know that I did.
#howrumorsstart
No heard the same thing from a friend from a friend who was a roommate of one of Schezer’s boyfriends.
Wow these last two comments made Scherzer a lot more interesting to me.
J. Edgar Scherzer?
Except without the creepy intensity.
And the “Let’s spy on the blacks”.
And watching the borders.
Hi Kit.
/obligatory
Hi Bexy! How are you, doll?
I’m doing all right. Glad to see you’re back here. Haven’t seen you in a while and was all bummed. =)
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6Ycg.....per_03.jpg
Yeah, I know what you mean. I try to stop myself from getting involved with the crazies but sometimes I can’t help it. Glad to know you’re around though.
Yeah, avoiding trolls/general dumbness is not one of my strong points so I just stay away. But as ever it’s good to talk to you.
Aw…you’re like one of my favorite people on this site, so it’s awesome to talk to you again as well. If I’m ever on twitter, I’ll look for you. =)
Don’t mind the crazies. I usually read the comments during the day (not usually the game threads) but I enjoy your contributions to the site.
Thanks, I try to comment intelligently. :3
I often wonder about Granderson and Mariano, too.
Grandy’s pressing in his first trip back to Motown.
a rare line drive from jeter!
It is nice to see Jeter put some better at bats than he did in the first part of April.
the Captain, not dead yet
/RichardPryor’d
Weak ground ballSolid line drive up the middle!I can’t stand the behind the catcher view when someone is pitching it gives me no sense of what is going on.
If YES keeps using this view, I’m switching to the Detroit feed. I hate the behind the catcher view
ARod needs to take a few of the hamsters out of his mouth.
They’re obviously distracting him
I can’t wait till tomorrow’s game because
1. I am done with school
2. Cinco de Mayo more commonly known by historians as Cinco de Drinko.
YES is getting a little camera-angle-from-behind-home-plate happy, if you ask me.
I mean, I appreciate the variety, but – I can’t see what’s happening.
Wow, well, that was a quick consensus on this issue. I wrote my comment before I saw that everybody else was saying the same thing.
No wonder home plate umpires generally suck. They can’t see anything either.
We gotta beat the bad teams up. We only split against the White Sox and we need to take 2 of 3 from the Tigers
Four game series.
Well at least split cause we are on the road.
Same difference. LOL, whatevs.
#posadasuxlolwhatevs
“Four game series in May.”
Fixed.
I don’t care when it is. In general sports you try to beat up on the bad teams and split with the good teams.
I’m not saying you’re wrong, just quibbling with the notion that winning this Tigers series is a “must”.
Nothing is a must in May.
Thanks!
All we “need” to do is make the playoffs. Which we can do even without taking two of three to the Tigers, if that ends up being happens.
#bigpicture
Turning up the heat on Jeter
The New York Times rarely posts sports stories on their front page. Not even this year’s Super Bowl received any ink on their front page.
So I was shocked to see today’s Times run a front page piece saying Jeter sucks.
http://webmedia.newseum.org/ne.....NY_NYT.pdf
This kind of HIGH profile article is chum for the NYC sportswriting sharks.
They’re obviously trying to boost sales in the pro-Nunez demographic.
The way Garcia tends to pitch around dangerous batters, he should definitely look into pitching in the NL…another Livan Hernandez.
The way he pitched around Cabrera?
Right on!
He could pitch that way into his 40s in the NL. AL lineups have fewer weak spots, expecially in the AL East.
Freddy Garcia strikes out Cabrera? I’m shocked.
YCPB
For the poll question: No
so it’s gonna be one of those games…
Forgot that the Yanks can’t hit the changup
I thought Mike said that was last year.
It was but Scherzer’s one to Swisher was nasty it brought memories back.
I have thought. Is a catcher a necessary part of defense, in the rule book is there a rule that states a catcher must be in play at all time. If not, then why not have the catcher play in the infield when no one is on base. Crazy idea of the day.
I laughed.
Wait, then whos going to catch the baseball?
use the ump as a backstop
The umpire’s groin.
A chair.
Someone can run and pick it up and throw it to the pitcher.
Pitcher catches it himself, Bugs Bunny-style.
Elvis Andrus with his all-world range at shortstop.
Jose Iglesias!
Wait, then who’s going to catch the baseball?
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he’s rolling.
YAY!
It would improve defensive sabermetrics for catchers…introduce the concept of range.
Stop calling me Shirley.
According to Flaherty, the Yanks are K’ing because of the shadows? What shadows? Don’t you need sun to make a shadow?
The sun is still out in Detroit. Are you watching the game?
I’m wondering. It is Poopy Pants so you just never know.
Maybe Poopy Pants is assuming since it’s apparently always sunny in Philadelphia, perhaps by transitive property it must always be overcast in Detroit.
That’s the best I’ve got.
Overcast in Detroit? Believe me, you don’t wanna give FOX any ideas.
Overcast in Detroit, the new screwball comedy from FOX, starring Caroline Rhea, Jerome Bettis, Steven Wright, and Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Tuesdays at 9 (8 Central).
Going to be a long night of offensive struggles.
Sheesh……..
Holy shit this team cant hit. Can we get Jason Giambi or some who can actually hit a home run up in here now??
Yeah, it totally sucks that the Yankees offense is at the bottom in wOBA, runs scored, and homers hit this year.
Wait, what?
Yankees suck, trade the farm for Albert Pujols.
Trade Manny Banuelos and Jesus Montero for Jose Reyes, quick, before he slips out from under our grasp.
Do you notice how the MSM assumes Montero is being traded this season? Like it’s a fait accompli. But then again I guess Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee get traded every July right?
The fact that Cashman almost traded Montero for Halladay and Lee clearly means he’s desperate to unload Montero quickly before his value evaporates altogether and the rest of baseball finds out he’s no better than Rob Deer or Pete Incaviglia.
Montero will be traded for Jon Garland or some other #4 starter by Bastille Day. Book it.
Please stop posting here, Mrs. Pujols.
+1
Bring back Scott Brosius. He still has a few hits in him.
this game is brutal already…
Yeah, that was much quicker than I expected…
I agree, it is brutally early in this game.
Freddy is the very definition of a #5 starter. Good thing our offense can make up for it. He said, hopefully.
If Jason Giambi and Johnny Damon were still on the team, the Yankees would be winning at least 2-0 by now.
Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?
Over Macho Grande?
I’ll never get over Macho Grande.
Those wounds run pretty deep.
For those who were wondering why I don’t visit the Game Threads much any more, well.
Blind guess. With the 51st pick, do the Yankees select a high school pitcher, college arm, or a toolsy high school position player?
Yes.
No, they can’t draft Casey Kelly. He’s with San Diego.
I’d go with a wheelman. That way they can make a quick getaway.
Jason Statham looks like he could put up a good ISO-D.
That’s isolated-demolition, right? I mean, if the Transporter films are any indication…
It’s isolated-deltoids, actually.
Hughes is supposed to begin throwing in two weeks, according to MLB.com.
That’s good news.
Bob Lorenz???? Awesome!
Is Kay on vacation, or did he pull an Imus or something?
Does anyone else have a mancrush on Max Scherzer?
Now why, I can’t seem to ever figure this out, amidst the plethora of offensive issues at the moment, is Cano not batting third? I mean, like, I… it’s baffling. I just don’t understand.
I think Mark Teixeira is batting third. That might be why.
Money = power = status = leadership = responsibility = deference.
Tex and ARod are being paid like the heart of the order stars and leaders. As long as they continue to produce like heart of the order stars and leaders, they’ll keep being placed in the positions traditionally occupied by the heart of the order stars and team leaders.
Putting Cano at #5 is the best respect you can show him without having to slight Tex or ARod and their combined 50M paychecks.
I suppose, which again questions the state of Girardi’s gentle but continual pussification as a manager. Switch Tex and Cano. Perfect spots for both. I won’t even touch upon the Jeterian struggle with hubris. For once, sooner rather than later, I’d like to see the optimal lineup with the best players receiving the most ABs. And, as someone who’s illegally streaming the game from California because I’m to much of a miser to pay $60, I want my goddamn money’s worth from my Robby man-crush.
Since batting orders really don’t mean much of anything, I see no need to upset the apple cart.
And it’s not a Girardi issue, every manager does it. As does every non-sports business everywhere.
…not sure if serious…
Is Tex somehow part of the problem, now? I don’t see how batting Cano third gets Jeter out of the leadoff spot or prevents people from making boneheaded baserunning plays.
Great. Looks like the offense decided to take the day off again
its early…and max is nasty
Maybe they had a dentist appointment this morning and they’ll be in by the afternoon for the staff meeting.
hopefully the offense just ran into some traffic and should arrive soon
Something. The bigger the lead, the worse it looks.
Did you see the ball boy jump into the crowd…ha!
Miguel Cabrera XBH, so predictable
Is Garcia turning into a pumpkin?
you mean turning into the pitcher he actually is
he went from a lucky pumpkin to a plain old pumpkin
Seems like Ordonez was way overdue for that damn.
Noesi please
gonna be one of those games again.
Better get started on my english paper and quit wasting my time on this then
I hear that. I’m turning on the radio, off the TV, crankin’ up the BBQ…someone wearing a Yanks jersey is having RBIs tonight.
is that you? and by RBI’s did you really mean “RIBs”?
Come back and get ‘em tomorrow, boys.
Don’t think this team will do much more than win 2 or 3 in a row….
Not unless their BABIP and OBP gets any better.
BABIP has nothing to do with taking pitches and expanding the zone/chasing pitches/can’t hit curve balls… but I get your point.
The Tigers, you mean
Funny…
What the fuck Granderson. This is why we don’t bunt. EVER
for being so fast and athletic and a crazy hitter, that sure was shitty.
wow… just wow. This shit bricks are making Scherzer look like Whitey Ford.
And oh yeah, Garcia sucks again. Who had May 4th in the pool?
Arod 2 outcomes:
strikeout
pop out
and ground out…. my bad, thats Jeters line
Fuck! Gameday has these pitches RIGHT down the middle. BABIP is a BITCH.
Dear Robbie, please stop hacking away at everything.
Looked like the foot was off the bag too.
May the 4th be with the Yankees. They could use it.
Now I’ve really seen enough of you Freddy
It’s not that Garcia is pitching that badly.
When you have below average fastball velocity and throw it to dumb spots, you’re going to get hit. Two of the runs came on a completely idiotic first pitch inside 87 mph fastball to Magglio Ordonez. Gave up a home run to Arencebia in his last start on an identical first pitch, and a pitch like that just helps someone like Ordonez who is struggling.
If they lose, it’s not because of Garcia. Another non-showing by the offense. Popping out on a bunt down 4 runs leading off an inning with a 2-1 count as a 30 HR guy? Inexcusable.
So Garcia is flailing. No fear, Carlos Silva will be here…
Nice play by Cerv
What an impression. haha
I’ve been a Yankee fan since the days of Mickey Mantle. This 2011 team seems to be worse than last years even though it seems like if they don’t hit home runs they lose. They continue to be the biggest bunch of overpaid under achievers ever. When you consider their salary I would rather see the Reggie Jackson era and he was the highest paid and legitimate superstar at 1 million as compared to all the multi millionaires we’ve now that don’t do anything.
Old Lady: Nervous?
Ted Striker: Yeah.
Old Lady: First time?
Ted Striker: No, I’ve been nervous lots of times.
It’s Game 28. Twenty. Eight.
But he’s been a fan since the days of Mickey Mantle!
MICKEY MANTLE!
I’ll be totally honest here. I liked the game threads a whole lot better without your snarky comments. Just sayin’…
I’m not sure what’s snarky about this. It’s true.
Sounds like a you problem.
Is reminding someone that we’re only 17% of the way through the season really a snarky comment, though?
My above comment was snarky. Bexy’s seemed pretty straightforward.
gmta~
Indeed. Get More Tits and Ass, my friend. Get More Tits and Ass.
And this is why you were missed during the winter.
When in doubt, use profanity.
Is there anyway on an Iphone to update comments without going back to the beginning and scroll down again or posting a comment?
Sadly, no.
Thanks unfortunately it seems the easiest way to update comments are wiith pithy one word comments.
Most of these bats look lifeless right now. Absolutely lifeless. Scherzer’s going after every one of them, and they’re lacking response. No patience. Line drives/groundballs through the infield for hits problematic. Tigers batters, meanwhile, are doing the exact opposite, and it’s paying off for them.
THAT. And the Tigers are facing Garcia. Its not like they will hit against a “Garcia” type like the Yankees do.
The bats typically look lifeless against good pitchers, which Scherzer is. Sucks to be getting shut out, but it happens. People need to settle down. It’s May.
jit!
lol…still funny.
tit!
That’ll do, pig. That’ll do. *pats*
hear the new beastie boys?
Hot sauce committee? Not yet.
get on that!!!! what kind of new yorker are you
The kind of New Yorker who constantly blasts “Open Letter to NYC.”
I’ll get to it soon, promise.
i saw them on their 5 boroughs tour when i was in high school, so that record (and song) will always hold a special place in my heart
Yeah, I always wanted to catch their live show but I was never able to afford it. I love that song. My favorite of theirs. Get a shout out to the South Bronx and everything.
did you get the new rise above album? or were you a thrice fan? i forget. ever hear the lawrence arms? if not, do
If you mean Rise Against, then yes. I am a huge Thrice fan and I’ve never heard of Lawrence arms. Genre?
haha yeah rise against. sorry, had black flag on the mind. im a bit reluctant to get the new one. lawrence arms are pretty good punk rock with some pop-punk thrown in. check out their album the greatest story ever told. personal fav.
I’m getting it now. Thanks for the rec. I’m not that fond of the new Rise Against to be honest. Maybe I just need to sit and listen to it in a more relaxed setting but not too keen on it at the moment.
i wanna check it out but they’re kinda on my list of bands that have run their course. time for new bands to break through and win my heart. lemme know what you think of the lawrence arms album!
Beginning to remind me of last September…
Yup. I remember freaking out last Cinco de Septiembre as well.
Los eliminatorias son a la vuelta de la esquina!
This offense sucks!!!! This TEAM sucks!!!! DFA THEM ALL!!!! Fire Girardi!!!! Fire Cashman!!
Mocha Joe’d
LOL I love it when you Mocha Joe. I really do.
I haven’t seen MochaJoe around in a bit. Did he drink a bad pot of coffee or something?
No, he gets his coffee delivered from WB Mason.
WHO BUT?!??!??!??!
They should never show a strike out like that in slow motion. Doesn’t make the batter look any better.
We sure look old tonite….
Happens to the best of ‘em.
It is the gray uniforms. Pinstripes make us look 1998 young.
We need cotton uniforms. It’s a natural fabric.
Frustrating tonight.
Both Joe Maddon and John Farrel ejected in Tampa. Joe West is at it again!
How long would a player like Inge remain with the Yankees – consider the same career stats. Two seasons, maybe three?
Scott Brosius lasted 4 years.
How exactly is giving up 4 runs when your team can’t fuckin see the ball “keepin’ ya in some ballgames,” Flash?
Flash needs to go. He has no sense of humor, is too serious, and only talks about what a crappy player he was. I hate him. I still don’t understand why he has that job.
How exactly is giving up 4 runs when your team can’t fuckin see the ball “keepin’ ya in some ballgames,” Flash?
4 runs with this offense IS keeping them in some ballgames. On average, this offense scores 5+ runs.
Tonight just isn’t the offenses’ night. I’m not mad at Freddy for limiting them to 4 through 6, though, that’s what a good 4th/5th starter is supposed to do.
You do have to give Freddy credit for hanging in there and not blowing out the BP even if he did give up 4 runs..
Innings pitched might just be the most significant pitching metric of them all.
This, exactly.
I realize it could be a lot worse, and I got nothing against Freddy (still fondly remembering Easter) it’s just a lot harder to stomach 4 ER when your offense is goose-egged.
He does impress with the devastating 52 mph strikeout pitch, though…
About to lose 2 in a row to a team under .500?
Faaaaaaabulous.
Team looks like crap this series. Kinda disappointing.
has any Yankee batter seen more than 4 pitches tonight?
besides Gardner?
Ah crap. Missed the 5 pitches Tex had in the first. Thanks.
pretty pathetic, Scherzer is not this good
Bright side, they face Porcello tomorrow. #can’tbeatDetroitinBestof5
Scherzer looks like Roy Halladay tonite.
You know what…I think that is Halladay…WTF!?!?!?
Since most people here live in NY I assume you havent had a Little Ceasars 5$ pie right??
Midwest pizzas I’ve partaken in:
Little Caesar’s
Godfather’s
Valentino’s
Fazoli’s
… if you haven’t had them, you’re not missing much.
A 7-11 down here in Miami sold Godfather’s pizza at one time. Not bad but certainly nothing special.
Little Caesars is garbage. All those pizza chains are. Making good pizza is a lost art.
I only buy Little Caesars once in awhile because well its 5$ for a large pizza lol.
Papa John’s is pretty good though.
LOL Flaherty said “37 balls”
He wishes…
Cervelli CRUSHED that.
Damn you Jeter!!! First F’in pitch?!?
at least he didn’t DP
plz get on base for a grand slam k thx
Well that sucked.
What’s more of a rally-killer, home runs or double plays?
Icing on the cake. Your daily GIDP.
so. f-ing. annoying.
well you knew that was coming
I believe thats Grandy’s 1st GIDP of the season.
come on , you gotta win these game where the Angels automatically forfiets to the Red Sox
Thankfully the game is still in delay.
Eff this noise.
What would really shit on this day would be having to see that clown Valverde tonight.
How adorable.
Good night all….
Garcia gets pulled after 6 magnificent innings at 90 pitches and stays in the game after 7 mediocre innings at 105 pitches.
Sigh
tERA 3.00, FIP 2.96, xFIP 2.79.
Sigh
Doesn’t it seem like Cabrera and Martinez are taunting Garcia a bit?
why can’t we hit!?!?? why can’t we hit with RISP!!?!?!?? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!?!????!?!?!?!???!
just to annoy you.
Lacking discipline. And patience. As well as seeing more than 4-5 pitches getting a goddamn ball through the infield in these spots. That’s why.
Lol that’d be so embarassing if we played like this for the rest of the season.
I’d laugh.
In hindsight.
Why are Gaudin 2.0′s numbers spaced so far apart? It looks tacky.
Somebody has to tell these guys that we can’t keep splitting series with inferior teams. We should have beat the White Sox 3/4 but we couldn’t hit. We should have beat this Detroit team 3/4 but we can’t hit. I don’t know what more is expected of Freddy. Detroit has a 2 man lineup and the worst bullpen in the majors. Pathetic performance. Where are you A-Rod?
Or losing those series, which may very well happen tomorrow.
Why don’t you tell them? I’m sure they’ll care.
ARod’s not talking. But his oblique is saying, “Help me! Let me heal! Don’t hurt me more!”
This is the guy they named New Mexico after
Valverde is up again? Leyland really does not give a fuck about your arms, Tigers pitchers.
The bullpen has a grave of all the arms lost in action.
“be a man!”
that’s basically Leylands reasoning.
Amen, Kit. Amen.
Valverede warming up again? jeez
Fuck tha umpires.
Any home plate umpire that makes that call when it is SO FUCKING EASY to ask the 1st or 3rd plate umpire to make the call should be instantly demoted to AAA.
Fucking arrogant assholes.
Headline for this thread shouldve said No Curveballs, Sliders or Changeups.
they sure as hell dont look like the best offense in the majors..
And there’s the gift wrap to another god-awful offensive performance. Pathetic.
Albuquerque looks like Valverde jr. on the mound
Fuck you dalelama
? What happened?
I honestly thought we would sweep Detroit. Or at least win the series.
It would’ve been nice to win the series but sweeping a four game series is pretty difficult.
I usually don’t care who wins the Central, but those idiotic Tigers fans have made sure I don’t want the Tigers to sniff it.
Settling for a possible tie blows.
Bad loss, it happens. It’s early May, there’s 133 games after this. People need to relax.
Come back, offense!!
And for the 2nd week in a row, this team is faced with avoiding losing a 4-game set. And they might not be as lucky as they were against the White Sox in the Bronx, this time, because there is also no knowing if A.J. will carry his 3-1 April into this month. Just sad.
From MLB Trade Rumors:
“Jack Etkin takes an in-depth look at Troy Tulowitzki in a piece for Baseball America. Within Etkin’s article, there’s word that Rockies GM Dan O’Dowd and Tulowitzki discussed an eventual position change “at length.” Tulowitzki will be nearly 36 at the end of the 2020 season, the last one on his contract.”
Wow. Seems reasonable…
