So, Felix Hernandez. He’s pretty good at this pitching thing, winning the Cy Young Award last year thanks to a 8.36 K/9, 2.68 BB/9, and 3.04 FIP. King Felix has actually been even better this season, posting some gaudy peripherals in his 11 starts: 8.92 K/9, 2.43 BB/9, and 2.31 FIP. He also has a history of crushing the Yankees, in case you were thinking upset. Here’s the starting nine…

How are they inconsistent on offense? People keep saying that but I don’t think it’s true. Every team score more runs some nights and fewer runs other nights. Also, 2.73 ERA does not mean scoring a couple runs off of him should be a surprise.
He threw 26 innings against the Yankees last season and gave up one earned run. Pessimism was warranted entering this game.

My argument is that if you’re a PG MVP you should be in the top 5 in assists, and he had 7 per. For comparison, Rondo and CP3 had about 10 APG. He takes a lot of shots though, but he only shoots 44%. I just think there were much better choices than Rose but the media began drooling over him at the end of the season and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Back to Howard, he was scoring 40 a game in the playoffs and stillnlosing, which shows his support is terrible. Separate thought: Orlando needs to give Dwight some support. It’s not hatred, it’s frustration. When your offense can’t do jack, you’re going to have more aggravation when your pitcher gives up even a couple of runs.
He’s the 5th starter. No matter who’s in that spot, they’re very likely to give up runs. Maybe you have too high expectations?

What do you consider to be a ’5th starter’? The guy who goes into the season as the ’5th starter’, or the ’5th best starter in the rotation’? The latter, yeah, most teams have very crappy 5th starters. But by the former, there are a lot of much better 5th starters in baseball today.
Nova has ZERO upside. ZERO. He doesn’t get enough Ks, he walks too many, and he’s not such an extreme groundballer that he can get away with the low Ks and high BBs. Period. FACT. End of story. Whatever you need me to say to end this statement conclusively.
Noesi has upside. Noesi can actually get swinging strikes from time to time. I’d much rather see Noesi take his licks than watch a starter with ZERO UPSIDE pitch every 5 games.
