        IPK.

The red sox fans were really subdued at the game last night. I guess all this winning is making them slightly less bitter asses.

It was Thursday night, which means tomorrow was payday down at the nudiebooth.

    Win it for Joba.

O/U: Swinging strikes for Nova tonight: 3.5

    • http://twitter.com/SteveH_MandAura Steve H

      Under.

  • Esteban

We’ve lost a lot of good men out there.

    • Oliver

      Playing for the Yankees?

      /Wedding Crasher’d

  • Mike Myers

I was just thinking…whos team is hurt more sox (dice k) or Yanks (Joba)?

5th starter has to be worth more than a 7th inning guy right?

    • TheLastClown

Maybe in a vacuum. Given the SP environment on the Sox & the relief environment on the Yanks, there’s a lot more negative space created by Joba going down than ‘Zaka.

      IMO

    • CP

How are the Soc hurt by losing Dice-K? Any replacement is going to be better than him.

    • S

but that starter was dice k, they could put a cardboard cutout, and it do a better job than dice k

      • Mike Myers

I see what you guys mean…but its a long season. Lacky sucks and Wake is 150 years old. It might end up being a bigger deal for them in the dog days with nagging injuries.

      • CMP

I agree. It’s like if AJ got hurt.

The old Addition by subtraction theory.

  • JobaWockeeZ

How about win it and don’t die down after the first inning homer?

  • MikeD
    • CMP

Maybe Pat Venditte can teach him to pitch lefty. God knows they need a LOOGY.

  • Mickey Scheister

I’m taking the weekend off from Yankee baseball. I’m enjoying haunted Savannah, but go bombers! One comment, why the F was the Dick sent down, and why is Cervelli still in the Bronx, doesn’t he belong in Trenton or the GCL?!!? Call up teh Jesus!!! That is all, go NYY!!!

  • Brian

I could barely sleep after that seventh inning last night. Come on Nova, we need a win today.

  • Cy Pettitte

can the media stop talking about Banuelos/Betances coming up? that would be a disaster.

    • Pat D

Of course they can’t. And why should they? After all, it’s been done before.

That is the lasting impact of Joba ’07.

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

HE’S OUR JESUS AND WE WANT HIM NOW! Seriously, when is Montero going to get called up? I can hardly wait.

    • CBean

honestly i realise that is defense is sub-par but cervelli’s is as well. I’d rather have the one that can hit.

  • MikeD

I’m sorry, but my back is to the TV and I just heard from Michael Kay that it’s Jorge Posada bobble head night, “and it’s a dirty one.”

    No additional comment.

  • Esteban

    Calling it, Nova perfect game.

    • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

He’s already gotten the first batter out of the way. That’s the hardest one.

      • Esteban

They always say the first inning is the toughest inning for starters.

    • TheLastClown

I’m with you…2/27 of the way there!

      • Esteban

And a swinging strikeout already. My prediction is looking golden! GOLDEN!

    • CMP

Wouldn’t that be the shocker of all time.

The Yankees would have to get a special dispensation from Bud Selig that allows them to play with 15 men in the field to have a chance.

      • CBean

my nephew’s pee wee league they all got to play with two men in every position for defense. You think Selig would allow that?

    • MikeD

We’re 6/27th of the way there.

Of course, if this keeps up, someone will say you jinxed it!

  • MikeD

Who was that man on the mound?

  • Pat D

At least no rain delay today. The rain delay threads seem to develop unpleasantness since we talk about other stuff.

    • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

      Like Latina Butt Sluts 18.

      • Esteban

But that’s not unpleasant. In fact, Latina Butt Sluts 18 is quite pleasant.

        • Wooderson

its 17 you gotta watch out for. really lackluster performances

    • TheLastClown

Haven’t the games themselves fostered some unpleasantness?

      • Pat D

Yea, but then we’re all mad at the team.

    • MikeD

It’s been hot this week. Let’s talk about global warming.

      • Pat D

I think we did that a few weeks ago.

      • Esteban

The government has a conspiracy to warm the climate carried out by the National Weather Service, who do so using chemtrails.

        • MikeD

I think HAARP is somehow involved. They’re practicing on us before baking our enemies.

          • Esteban

The Trilateral Commission is involved somehow, I’m sure.

          • Pat D

On a episode of Community, there was a quick line about Harrison Ford irradiating our testicles with microwave rays sent from satellites or something like that.

            I blame that.

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Probably the best inning Nova will ever pitch.

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

Did Ivan Nova just miss a bat? I thought he couldn’t do that.

  • TheLastClown

    And swinging strike counter….1!

    • DCBX

      2~!

  • AnthonyNH

Why can’t Nova always look this good?

    • TheLastClown

He often does, the first time through.

  • Cy Pettitte

This is why I don’t understand Noesi not being in the line up. Everyone admits Nova is essentially a 2 pitch pitcher. Nova should be in the pen or in AAA developing his change. He seems like he’s in this no man’s land right now where he isn’t developing anymore and isn’t getting (great) results.

    • Cy Pettitte

      Noesi being in the rotation*

      • TheLastClown

        Well, you see…

        Nova’s a first inning guy.

      • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

I’d like to see Noesi in the lineup.

  • TheLastClown

    Effin’ Fausto.

I can’t look at him and not remember Andy outdueling him in ’07, only to have the swarm snatch the game away.

    • Pat D

      Blame John Kruk.

      • TheLastClown

Sometimes I’d love to be inside Paulie’s head.

I imagine he occasionally has Homer Simpson-esque visions of funny cartoons and delicious foodstuffs dancing around to silent-film-era music.

  • AnthonyNH

Jeter against the sinker. How can this not be a ground ball to short?

    • CMP

If its a GB to 3rd.

    • Esteban

      An act of god.

  • thaaaaaaayankeeswin

ok, lets see Carmona hasnt won since may….1 and 3 on the road…over 5 era…indians are 4 and 11 in their last 15…all that adds up to a 17 to 0 2 hit shut out for Carmona and the indians

  • BigBlueAL

Did Michael Kay just say that the Yankees have drawn the fewest walks in the league?? That cant be right.

    • Pat D

      They’re first.

      • Pat D

        First in the A.L.

    • BigBlueAL

Yup, thanks to Twitter I found it they are 2nd in MLB in walks and 1st in BB%.

      Kay = Major FAIL

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Santana puled a Cervelli there

  • Cy Pettitte

did they trade Cervelli to the Indians before the game?

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

    Maybe it’s not just Cervelli?

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Carlos Santana wasn’t very “Smooth” on that one.

    Rimshot, plesae.

  • Esteban

See! See! Cervelli’s not the only one that does it. Indians fans are saying “DFA Carlos Santana NOW!”

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

      Because he can hit.

      • Esteban

        I know, I’m kidding around.

      • MikeD

That’s what I thought. I have him on my fantasy baseball team. I hope he remembers he’s supposed to hit at some point.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Kay: “The Yankees have the fewest walks in the AL.”

Axisa: “The have the highest walk rate in baseball. They have fewer walks because they’ve been rained out more than anyone else.”

    I win.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Also, wtf? They lead the AL in walks.

      • Pat D

Did he say they have the fewest walks at home or something? Because otherwise he’s ridiculously stupid.

        • MikeD

The ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey is clearer than Michael Kay.

          • Pat D

My god, it’s full of stars!!

/yea, that was only said in 2010’d
/late, got distracted by the almost brawl’d

  • Operation Slade

So did anyone else hear that Papi blamed the media for him being hit by a pitch last night? I mean yeah the media made it known but come on Papi your pitcher had already hit two yankees which made it five hit in the series, add in your bat flip and its quite clear why you were hit. Blame Beckett.

    • Pat D

Beckett also said something about ESPN creating the situation.

      Delusional fucks.

      • Operation Slade

Yeah seriously come on guys it wa not the media’s fault, who gives a shit if they had never hit Papi before.

        • Pat D

I didn’t know that factoid until the game was going on, so, yea.

      • jerrynyg

What is scary is that on lame ass ESPN today they didn’t even address the ridiculous 5 v. 1 HBP ratio in that series. They said Ortiz got hit because the Yankees got swept and were mad.

        • Pat D

I guess the Yankees weren’t winning when Ortiz got plunked.

That’s what George W. Bush would call “revisionist history.”

          • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

Paul Revere rung bells to warn the British not to take our guns.

            • Pat D

Leaving it alone, not opening up that one…

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Bases juiced. I bet Robbie pops up to Youkilis.

    • Pat D

That would be quite the trick.

    • DCBX

Considering Youk is in a different city, I’ll take that.

  • BigBlueAL

Tim Belcher, best known for giving up a grand slam to Canseco in the 1988 WS that almost broke a TV camera and for giving up Leyritz’ walk-off in Game 2 of the 1995 ALDS and being mad about it after the game.

    • Pat D

He was also the #1 overall pick in the 1983 draft.

Roger Clemens went #18 in that same draft.

  • Cy Pettitte

Watch Robbie swing at the 1st pitch

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

I fucking swear, if Cano swings at the first pitch…

  • CMP

Watch Cano swing at the first pitch against a totally wild pitcher.

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

Whatever you do Cano, DONT SWING AT THE FIRST PITCH!

    • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

      Takes ball one.

      • MikeD

        Swings at ball two.

        Swings at ball three.

        • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

          Gets an RBI single. Win.

  • IRF

Here we go. First pitch swinging

  • BigBlueAL

Odds that Cano swings at the 1st pitch despite Carmona walking 3 of first 4 batters??

    • BigBlueAL

Instead he takes Ball 1 but swings at the next 2 pitches which wouldve been balls.

  • CMP

Must be a full moon. Cano didn’t swing.

  • thaaaaaaayankeeswin

Bottom line is The Yanks got swept back to back series at home since the 1920’s…hitting Ortiz was not enough…they looked like bitches the entire series

    • MikeD

The Yankees got swept back to back series at home against all teams, or against the Red Sox?

Either way, the 1920s were a pretty good decade for the Yankees, so it may not mean much.

      • Pat D

They were .500 in World Series play.

And they let the Senators (the Senators!) take their rightful place in the World Series twice!

        Clearly they didn’t do enough.

  • CBean

okay if we can’t score lots of runs after 3 walks in an inning I will…probably not be surprised at this point.

    /dejected

  • TheLastClown

    Robbie taking painful swings.

  • thaaaaaaayankeeswin

there you go Robbie, swing at all of the balls out of the zone so you can ground into a dp and bail out yet another pitcher

  • Pat D

Oh, jeez, now I remember that Kenny can’t say Choo’s name.

    • BigBlueAL

Nobody butchers names worse than Clyde Frazier. Yet he still somehow sounds cool doing so lol.

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

    “Sin So Cho” LOL Kenny

  • TheLastClown

  • first time lawng time

Does Cleveland’s BP still suck? I especially enjoyed watching Sipp vs Robbie last year. I think it was 2 GS? =)

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

I hope Kay doesnt pimp Choo’s arm like he pimped Bautista’s.

    • TheLastClown

Are you hoping that this one’ll be offered a bit cheaper?

  • CMP

I’m not used to seeing a right fielder who can throw. Choo has a gun.

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Should have held Tex at third. Now they’re not set up for the grand slam :(

  • Esteban

Woohoo. 1-1 2 RBIs with bases loaded so far. M

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

2 runs without an evil homerun

  • CBean

    woo two runs!

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

    Winning, duh.

  • TheLastClown

    Hip fucking hip.

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

    HE’S NOT DEAD YET

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Hip Hip closer to the Mendoza line!

    • DCBX

closer OVER the Mendoza line. Finally!

  • Esteban

Lots of people (Indians fans) were calling KLaw an idiot and much worse things because he didn’t think the Indians were that good. I wonder what those people are saying now.

  • first time lawng time

So. I have already decided like 10 hours ago that I’m already over that game last night and the entire series!

Now, I went to bed during the second inning last night, so I’m happy I didn’t stay up late to see that fiasco, but I read the recap and it still stung.

Buuuut, I did post an interesting fact: the Yankees only suck vs Boston.

Yeah that’s frustrating, but it’s only one team.

Like I said, I am already over it!

    • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

I’ve put it behind me too. Good thing we don’t have to play Boston again until August.

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

    40 pitches, yeesh.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    40 pitches already.

  • TheLastClown

Kenny quoting *sort of* Oscar Wilde…

  • swishers fauxhawk

    40 pitches after 1?

    #Pat likes this.

  • Sheepmeister

the 40 pitches in the first inning is a sign that the yankees will now allow carmona to go 7 innings and no more runs.

  • Esteban

Would people be upset if Posada started hitting well again because that would likely delay Jesus’ arrival?

    • first time lawng time

      I wouldn’t.

I love Jorge and always want him to succeed.

And even if he continued to suck, there’s no guarantee Jesus would come up.

  • first time lawng time

    40 pitch 1st inning. Nice.

I swear, though, if that guy goes into the 7th….

    I’ll be a bit pissed. I’ll be honest. That’s how I’d feel.

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Wow Cervelli’s practice throw went into CF too.

    • CMP

They should make the pitcher be the cut off man on his throws to 2nd.

  • CMP

Fucking Cervelli even throws it into CF on his practice throw.

    • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Glad I’m not the only one who noticed that

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Jorge’s figurine is batting lefty, yet his right hand is on top of his left hand in his follow through. How did nobody notice this?

    • Pat D

      I didn’t notice. But, wow, that’s terrible.

    • DCBX

Jeter’s wax statue at Madame Tussaud’s is lefty too. Artists don’t watch sports. Who knew?

      • Pat D

        Wow, that’s much worse.

  • BigBlueAL

How long has Ken Singelton been announcing Yankee games?? mid-90’s??

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Apparently threw the warm-up throw into center field between innings.

    • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Are you referring to Cervelli? It was shown on TV.

  • Pat D

How do they talk about Choo’s slow start and not mention that the player himself said he feels distracted by his DUI arrest?

    • jerrynyg

The ankle monitor bracelet is hampering his swing mechanics.

      • DCBX

        I laughed

Carmona being tossed might be addition by subtraction for the Indians right now, but I see your point

  • BigBlueAL

    Arod is no Tim Raines.

  • Stratman9652

So the Yankees are probably not so interested in Carmona now eh?

  • IRF

Nova isn’t afraid to throw at anybody

  • Cy Pettitte

how do you NOT eject Carmona? he clearly went head hunting after giving up a HR

4 runs over 2 innings. He can stay.

  • aRX

In lieu of a physical beatdown, I now humbly request 3 matching 15-1 ass-whippings. You can win Monday’s game by just 6 if you want.

  • Guy Montag

Carmona should have been immediately tossed from the ballgame. That was clearly intentional and right at the head. Now if we retaliate we’re gone. That ain’t fair.

  • Slappy White

God , I wanted to see Girardi smack Acta

  • James A

I hope nova doesn’t hit anyone, it would break up his perfect game

  • special kid

fking outrageous! nova please bean santana in the head! teach them a FKING lesson

  • Pat D

I’ve got nothing against Manny Acta and he has to defend his player, but, jeez, he should have known what had happened in his opponent’s last series and realize that they wouldn’t take kindly to getting hit.

    • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

I have no beef with Acta either. In fact I kind of respect him in some ways, but I agree, just talk to Carmona and get off the field.

    • Cy Pettitte

he’s a douche for getting in Girardi’s face. The Yankees had every right to be mad considering how it went down, regardless of what happened with the Sox.

You know how in the NBA you can get a flagrant 2 and immediately ejected if you just take someone out and the refs think it was intentional, regardless of what had happened beforehand
Why wasn’t that a flagrant 2 on Carmona, everyone in the Stadium knew that was on purpose

  • BigBlueAL

Hey Mike, hopefully you’re around to settle a debate I had with a friend today.

I know I’m getting ahead of things, but assuming Joba won’t be back until July of next year at the earliest, do the Yanks tender him/offer arbitration this off season?

I said no, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s gone. Just that they have to work out a 2 year deal where one year is below market. My buddy thinks I’m nuts, they have to pay him in arb and not risk losing him. What do you think?

    • Jetrer

I say pay him in Arb. He probably would make about what he’s making now. Thats a small price for the Yankees to pay to avoid losing him. The already fucked up by non tendering Aceves, no need to do that with Joba just to save 1-2M.

      • http://www.yankeeanalysts.com/ Steve S.

I can’t fault them on Ace. They tried over and over again to get his back healthy, and time after time he had setbacks. Then he breaks a collarbone in the off season. Their position was perfectly reasonable, it just hasn’t worked out so far.

BTW-They may still be right on Ace, his back may go out again. Though considering how little Boston paid for him there’s no doubt he’s been a bargain already.

        • Jetrer

not saying Ace didn’t carry risk, but all he would have cost was about 450K and a roster spot. He was certainly worth that risk.

          • http://www.yankeeanalysts.com/ Steve S.

I agree. Considering how little he went for, it seemed odd. I’m just saying I know why they felt he was a bad risk. I guess they didn’t even want to waste a spot on the 40 man.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

I think they’ll just work out a one year deal before arbitration. The Yankees don’t do extensions, and I can’t imagine they’d guarantee him a second year while he’s injured.

      • http://www.yankeeanalysts.com/ Steve S.

Gotcha, figuring that he pitches next year at some point and they get some value out of him in 2012.

  • Crime Dog

So we’re still at the point in the season where one 3 for 3 day can raise an average 20 points along with the OBP and SLG. So, one or two hot weeks from Posada can pick up that BA/OBP/SLG to a respectable rate.

    • CP

I don’t think you can expect Posada to get his stat line back to his career norm for the season because he started so poorly. I’ll be very happy if he can just match his career line from here on out.

  • Cy Pettitte

yay Brett. don’t think just run.

Yeah, I probably should have thought about that one.

        • MikeD

Yeah, really. Reliving the 1976 World Series is worse than reliving the 2003 World Series. Both had fantastic entries, but bad endings. At least the 1976 team lost to a better team in the Big Red Machine. The 2003 Marlins? Ugh.

          • Pat D

I think I’m the only person who finds The Big Red Machine to be overrated.

            • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

Joe Morgan begs to differ. The guy said that the 1998 Yankees would only take ONE game from The Big Red Machine is a seven game series.

              • MikeD

Ha. He also said only two 1998 Yankees (Bernie and Jeter) would start on the his team. From a positional stand point he’s not entirely wrong (although I’d take O’Neill over Griffey Sr. and Tino during his peak years was as good as Perez at first, although not for his career). But the starting pitching, bench and bullpen are all better.

He more likely had it backwards. The Big Red Machine would probably only take one game from 1998 Yankees.

            • MikeD

Overrated is a term that’s difficult to quantify. It’s personal. On one level I agree. They were a great team, but their press clippings exceed the reality.

The Yankees 1996-2001 were better, and no Big Red Machine edition was better than the 1998 Yankees.

              • Pat D

                Yep.

The Reds just didn’t have good enough pitching.

And the 1998 Yankees certainly had good enough pitching to shut down their lineup.

  • JobaWockeeZ

I shed a tear for some reason.

Justin Maxwell grabbed a bat from his locker in his left hand, walked over to Jesus Montero’s locker, and dropped it in.

The Yankees’ young phenom always liked this particular bat, Maxwell reasoned, and this was the last chance he would have to give it to him.

      • Esteban

Well his Yankees career is almost certainly finished due to the injury.

        • CMP

He could be back. . It’s not like the Yankees have any real outfield prospect that will be ready for AAA next year.

  • JobaWockeeZ

Wait why do people want retaliation? Who got hit?

  • CMP

I don’t think it’s a good idea bringing in Logan to face all those lefties.

  • Pat D

OK, trailer for X-Men: First Class where they said “certified fresh?” Are that many people even aware of what that means?

    • CP

In general probably not, but it may be a bigger deal to the demographic they’re targeting.

      • Pat D

Considering it’s still technically a franchise movie, if their demographic didn’t go see it yet, they probably won’t.

  • JobaWockeeZ

Wait please tell me the Yankees stood up for Teix who didn’t just got plunked once this WEEK but twice?

Like come on do you have to rely on CC to make sure our fucking players don’t die at a faster pace?

    • Cy Pettitte

      benches were warned I believe.

    • CP

Like come on do you have to rely on CC to make sure our fucking players don’t die at a faster pace?

The last time a Yankee was killed by being hit by a pitch was never.

Scoring 11+ runs is retaliation enough.

      • Pat D

In fact, it was the other way around when a player was killed on a HBP.

      • JobaWockeeZ

Obvious joke couldn’t have been more obvious but okay sure. And maybe not because in Ruth’s era there were no helmets and a pitch to the head can kill and it’s happened.

And no I doubt the scoreboard matters when opposing teams know that the Yankees won’t hit someone back. But if you’re content with Teix getting hurt then fine.

      • CMP

That’s what a woman would say. They need to draw a line in the sand and drill someone like CC did last night.

I might be wrong, but I think the Yankees have scored more runs this game than thir entire series vs Boston, or at least almost.

It’s amazing how this team can have a nice west coast road trip, beat up good SP, come homes, play like shit against one team, and then look like pros gainst another.

It really is just the RS I think.

      Get out of here troll!

    • CP

They scored 13 runs against the Red Sox.

The announcers the other night (can’t remember if it was the radio or TV) mentioned that it may just be a matchup thing – the Red Sox lefty hitters match up well with the Yankee righty pitchers. It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re better or worse, just a bad matchup.

      • JobaWockeeZ

        13 runs? A success!

      • CMP

Let’s get real and call a spade a spade.

The red sox are the better team right now. It’s not the end of the world and it could still swing back in the Yankees favor with some luck and a few good moves but at this point it’s pretty much undeniable.

In 2009 the Yankees turned their season around when Joe Girardi got his team fired up by getting tossed from a game under the hot sun in Atlanta. In 2011 I think we’ll look back at today’s altercation between Girardi and Manny Acta as a turning point in the season. Girardi showed a lot of heart and pride tonight and that is bound to rub off on his ballclub.

because he’s 2nd in the pecking order to D-Rob (believe it or not). Ayala & D-Rob were held back for tomorrow in case it’s a tight game.

  • JohnnyC

You would think that the 4th rated organization in baseball would have a couple of bullpen arms that could get some outs in a 9-run game.

  • Frank

What’s the odds there are more moves made before tomorrow’s game? I say pretty good

  • Cy Pettitte

    this is so embarrassing

  • the tenth inning stretch

Dear sweet Mary, can this game please end already?

  • Stratman9652

    Outs please.

  • first time lawng time

Okay. Joke’s over, Yanks. It was fiunny, but now it’s not. Time to win.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Fuck our bullpen sucks

    • Foghorn Leghorn

      way to go Mo…

  • Foghorn Leghorn

what the hell is going on here? is this amatuer hour?

  • http://www.CarlsYankeeDugout.com Carl

    And it’s finally over.

  • MikeD

Can’t quite say “nice” win after the melt down by the third-tier relievers, but it’s a good win.

  • Foghorn Leghorn

its mo, Drob and a bunch of clowns out there…

    • FIPster Doofus

Those clowns in the bullpen did it again. What a bunch of clowns.

    • CMP

They have 2 good starters and 2 good relievers. The offense better catch fire.

      • Foghorn Leghorn

maybe they should carry fewer pitchers.

  • CMP

Is it too late to ask for Clippard, Dunn and Melancon back?

  • JobaWockeeZ

Curtis hit it to Harlem. LOL.

  • Zooboy

I’d rather have Dickerson than one of either Sanit or Whelan. Would probably prevent more runs as a replacement for Swish in RF in late innings.

    • JohnnyC

Swisher showed good range on that fly ball and wasn’t that a useful dive?

      • CMP

It looked like he should have caught it without diving.

        • JohnnyC

A good outfielder would have. LOL.

          • CMP

Swisher’s only married like 6 months and already he’s falling apart.

    • MikeD

They need arms out in the pen. Sanit’s the guy to go.

As for Whelan, let’s see what he does when he’s no longer making his MLB debut. There were those who wanted Cano sent back to the minors after he started his career 0-14, or whatever it was.

      • Foghorn Leghorn

I hope whelan doesn’t need a 9 run cushion every time he pitches.

  • MikeD

Over/under on an Indian getting hit tomorrow?

    • Guy Montag

Bartolo will definitely hit Cabrera tomorrow. And it needs to be done. A 95 MPH fastball right in his back.

    • the tenth inning stretch

I’m willing to bet that they don’t. That was a douche move by Carmona but the Yanks had the last laugh, and they’ll let that be their retaliation. I think they’ll let it die unless the Indians hit someone tomorrow.

  • Stratman9652

I like it when Tex actually speaks his mind instead of rolling out the cliches.

    • Rainbow Connection

Yeah, he really went out on a limb. Intentional throwing at the head is bad.

  • first time lawng time

Ummm it was at your back, not your neck, Tex.

At least this guy is honest, though. Jete would probably be like, “IDK why He would throw at me. I guess the itch got away.”

    See? Tex is legit.

I bet thr media is going to hitch and be like omg the Yankees overreacted! Classless bastards?!

    • MikeD

I think he knows where the ball was going.

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

Well, whoever said we should trade for K-Rod and Beltran is looking more and more right.

  • http://www.CarlsYankeeDugout.com Carl

I’m a bit late, but you know the current bullpen is a mess when Mariano has to come in because of something like of what happened with Whelan, Sanit and Pendleton.

    • Foghorn Leghorn

Whelan, Sanit and Pendelton sounds like a personal injury law firm..these fucktards have no business wearing pinstripes.

      • http://www.CarlsYankeeDugout.com Carl

I wouldn’t say that about Whelan and Pendleton. I’ll let Whelan go because today was his first game in the bigs, and probably felt 1st-Game pressure. Pendleton, well, he just needs to bounce back in a big way, because he did good the first time he was called up from AAA this year. As for Sanit, not even SWB Beat writer Donnie Collins thinks this guy should be in the bigs.

        • Onkel Fester

Whelan looked like absolute sh*t. Let him cut his teeth somewhere else if he is worthy.

          • http://www.CarlsYankeeDugout.com Carl

Really amazing how some people are quick to berate a rookie after his big league debut.

  • the tenth inning stretch

Now that Whelan’s first-game jitters are outta the way, I’m looking forward to seeing him pitch again.

    • Onkel Fester

I’m looking forward to seeing Whelan anywhere but the Bronx. He was awful.

  • Guy Montag

Why did they send Noesi down? He’s twice as good as the trash that pitched in that 9th inning. We need quality arms in the pen and he’s one of them.

    • MikeD

He’ll be back. He pitched five innings against the Red Sox, so they needed a fresher arm. Noesi wouldn’t be avialable for a few days. He’ll be back once he’s availble for return.

    • pat

Because he won’t be able to pitch for like 4 more days.

    • Stratman9652

He’s pretty much still on a five day rotation because technically he is a AAA starter. He threw about 6 inning a couple days ago so he wouldn’t be much use.

  • Foghorn Leghorn

I see that Moosecockus debuted tonight for the royals…that’s a great last name.

    • CMP

My favorite right now is Bastardo on the Phillies.

  • Foghorn Leghorn

i’m just watching the highlights now…missed the entire game..way to go, Girardi..i would like to see him get in Francona’s face…

  • Onkel Fester

I loathe Girardi and I don’t understand why some praise him. Where the hell was he the last 3 days? Red socks treat them like whipping boys, and oh, he gets upset against the Indians? Puhleeze.

    • MikeD

      Yawn.

Work better on your trolling. At least entertain us.
