This should keep everyone entertained for the next half hour or so. I hope they got that ball off the field after that play.

Nunez is certainly an adventure in the field.

  • http://www.yankeeanalysts.com/ Matt Imbrogno

Nunez giveth with a great play, and then giveth with a lulzy play. Thanks, Eduardo (and I’m glad you’re okay, Ramiro. That looked painful.).

    • The Big City of Dreams

It looks like the ball was shot out of a cannon….Pena went down quick.

  • Max

    …no words.

  • Zach

I laughed when I first saw that. I laughed even harder now.

  • pat

I assume Nunez was trying to hold the throw and just lost his grip on the ball?

    • http://www.yankeeanalysts.com/ Matt Imbrogno

      I would hope.

    • jayd808

Something closer to saw he didn’t have a play and held up, the ball dropped out. Looked funny but was sound defensive reaction.

    • Pat D

      I thought that right away.

In which case he did the completely right thing.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

I think Eduardo was trying to punish the ball for hurting his friend Ramiro.

“Oh, you’re going to hit my buddy Miro? TAKE THAT, YOU DIRTY COWHIDE FUCKER!”

    • Eduardo (My Left Nunez)

pat, you either give me too much credit, or not enough credit. I simply realized if I spike the ball, then I can not make another error throwing wildly. I am worried I might kill a spectator one of these days behind first base. Heh, I might kill one behind third base trying to throw to first base.

      Tune in nightly.

      ^^ Classic lol

  • CP

The sad thing is that was one of Nunez’s more accurate throws.

Nunez just forgot there’s no clock to stop in baseball.

    • MannyGeee

however, he was well aware of the golden rule…

I think this covers it. great times and I hope this is NOT the most memorable point of the season (well, 3000 hits aside).

  • Bills

Please please please put this to the Benny Hill music

  • Brandon

I actually thought he still had a play.Ball was hit sharply and Nunez has a pretty good arm.He probably wishes he would have just thrown it to 1st now.

  • sjferrari

I was there. All I can say is “Holy hell.”

  • Monteroisdinero

Pena in for defense. He certainly was defensive.

    No harm done. A 10-4 9th inning became a 10-4 final score.

Why does Mo warm up in these situations? Grow a set Joe.

    • nsalem

I think he was warming up when it was 7-4 and then he sat down. Next time your talking to Girardi you should ask him about it.

    • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

Why does Mo warm up in these situations? Grow a set Joe.

You should change your name from “Monteroisdinero” to “The Perpetually Off-Topic Superfluous Dig”.

      • nsalem

Sound of one hand clapping (on the internet yet)

      • Monteroisdinero

Mo warming up during that play and before it in that inning was ridiculous. A 6 run lead in the 9th? When does the guy really need to warm up? He pitched the day before. Not superfluous. Not really off topic in the context of that play and that game situation. As for a dig-so be it. I am one of many who get digs in where appropriate. No free passes.

        • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

Not really off topic in the context of that play

This topic is “The Ramiro and Eduardo Show”. The post contains a video and two sentences. Neither that video nor those two sentences contain any sliver of a shadow of a mention of Joe Girardi or Mariano Rivera (or pitching in general).

Not off-topic? Hot bullshit and you know it.

          • first time lawng time

Not really. He said the shitty defensive play had not impat on the game, which was good. H thn transitioned to saying that Mo warming was unnecessary. It all had to do with the 9th inning.

            • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

You’re not allowed to create your own save situation.

          • Monteroisdinero

But others (see below) can mention something about our catcher blocking the plate and don’t get called out for it as being off topic ( as many do on many threads)? Hot bullshit on you too Tommy-the great Yankee cyberbully!!

            Shaking in my pants. lol

            • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

I didn’t get on your case the first hundred times you did it, but by now your reputation precedes you.

        • http://www.youcantpredictbaseball.com bexarama

          No free passes.

          Hahahahahahah that’s funny.

          • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

            I laughed too.

            Sincerely,
            Greg “Free Pass” Golson

          • CS Yankee

I’m not sure if he gives free passes unless your name is Montero, Golson, Montero, Nunez, Montero, Golson or Montero.

He is also the VP of the hate club on Jeter, Swisher and Joe.

            • http://twitter.com/tsjc68 tommiesmithjohncarlos a/k/a Ridiculous Upside the Elder

              You left out Posada.

            • http://www.youcantpredictbaseball.com bexarama

You need to mention Nunez and Montero a few more times.

              • http://www.youcantpredictbaseball.com bexarama

I mean does he not realize he basically gave Nunez a free past in his original post. I guess not.

              • Monteroisdinero

Scary stuff to have a different opinion than the group. Sorry-I’ll try better to fall in with the troops.

                • http://www.youcantpredictbaseball.com bexarama

Oh don’t do the “omg teh groupthink is after meeeeee” bullshit. You are completely blind to anything Montero, Nunez, or Golson might do wrong/poorly, when you slam other players over anything else. Hot bullshit indeed.

  • Eduardo (My Left Nunez)

I am the court jester of the Yankee infield. I am here to entertain. Next showing, tonight in Cincinnati at the Great American Ballpark, one of your many modern-day Elysian Fields where my baseball skills have gone to die.

  • http://www.youcantpredictbaseball.com bexarama

My reaction was “yay, last out” to “hahaha WTF” to “oh yay they’re going to get the last out after all” to “oh my God what WAS that.”

No harm, no foul though. And that is funny.

  • http://myspace.com/bksmalls Smallz

I laughed about it after the game was over but Mr. Jeff Marquez really wasnt “impressive” last night.

    • CS Yankee

Agreed, he seems to be the weak link next to Logan of course. he might not make it as he is not a member of the “save the loogy’s foundation”.

  • http://twitter.com/bryanl26 Bryan L

    Hahahaha. Amazing.

  • #24!!!!

I can’t stop laughing but that may have hurt a little. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • Dan

What a great weekend. A Yankee shortstop made a play to his left and a Yankee catcher blocked the plate. Its been a long time.

  • ansky

It reminded me of the Zeile play in the 96 playoffs where Bernie scored. Also it may have been the highest comedy in MLB since Manny dove to cut off a ball that Damon threw into the infield in typical Damon throwing style

  • dkidd

nunez should have faked the spike and thrown to ingram for a touchdown
