Mark Teixeira, 1B
Robinson Cano, DH
Nick Swisher, RF

  1. Phife Dawg says:

The beat writers are gonna be shock if the Yankees don’t make a deal just for the sake for making a deal.

The trade deadline brings out the idiot in everyone.

    • Gonzo says:

Big Market Yanks happy with their $200 million payroll as it is right now!

    • Midland TX says:

Serious question: So what? Who gives a rat’s ass what the media say? You read the posts here–you know what’s up. Why get bent out of shape over people pimping their columns/radio shows/networks/papers?

      • Esteban says:

Because when we leave our mother’s basements we have to deal with peopl ewho read and believe what the media say. It’s impossible to escape the talking points of the MSM.

  2. Gonzo says:

Freddy Garcia is scratched! He’s headlining a deal for King Felix. Seattle needed some more Freddy Garcia in their lives. Cashman also mediated the end of the debt ceiling crisis. And then I woke up.

  3. Cy Pettitte says:

over/under: 1.5 Yankee players get plunked

  4. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Dear YES network,

please realize soon that Ken Singleton is a better pbp guy than Michael Kay

  5. Jack Merridew says:

3/4 is a must today. It would give us a successful homestand against the weakest of the weak. Good teams do not split series with the Orioles at home.

    • V says:

2009 Yankees: September 11-13th, Lost 2/3 vs. Orioles at home. Won World Series.

    • StanfordBen says:

“Good teams do not split series with the Orioles at home.”

Ridiculous. Do good teams split series with the Royals at home? The Red Sox just did. Good teams lose to bad teams all the time.

      • Jim S says:

What he meant to say was “Unrealistically perfect baseball teams don’t lose at all, against anyone.”

It’s attitudes like his that make it SO easy to understand why everyone else hates us.

  6. Xstar7 says:

Since when do they HAVE to do something? I like the Yankees’ internal options.

    • Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

hopefully that “something” is calling up Jesus

    • Phife Dawg says:

The $200 million Yankees HAVE to do SOMETHING. They need to trade for anyone, even if they are shitty/expensive!

    • Steve S. says:

Exactly. When the rationale for a move is that you “have to do something” its usually a bad move.

That’s what they said when they got Kei Igawa, Rafael Soriano, Kenny Lofton…am I missing anyone?

  7. Steve S. says:

    Borrowing this from TYA

The Yanks are looking to improve upon their 8-1 record against the O’s this year, and have outscored them 78-28 this season. That’s a +50 run differential over just 9 games, which accounts for 1/3 of the Yankee +148 run differential on the season.

    • MikeD says:

True, although if they only had a 10-run differential, they’d still have the second best run differential of any team in MLB. Very good teams are expected to destroy certain teams. Let’s hope it continues today.

      • Steve S. says:

Oh yeah, I wasn’t trying to diminish the rest of the season in any way. It just amazes me how lopsided the games between these teams have been.

  8. MikeD says:

Frank Tanana was always painful for me to watch, having actually seen him when he could throw in the upper 90s. It would be as if Randy Johnson had to become Jamie Moyer.

  9. bonestock94 says:

Wandy is a career 4 FIP pitcher, I’m not sure he’s worth trading for.

  10. teddy says:

    gotta bunt, bunt to 3rd

  11. Jack Merridew says:

Great poll, Michael. I wish he’d go back on vacation.

  12. mbonzo says:

    Freddy Garcia looks awesome.

  13. Mike Axisa says:

    Error on the throw? Eh.

  14. teddy says:

2 bb, 2 sb, garcia gift wrap that run

  15. Dela G says:

What a great stop by jeter

  16. Dela G says:

Eastern conference teams! Only mike Kay would say that

  17. jay h says:

  18. Cy Pettitte says:

    look out

  19. Jack Merridew says:

Make no mistake about it, that was intentional. Retaliation will come, count on it.

  20. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Buck Showalter Baseball™

  21. Rich in NJ says:

Haven’t looked at the stats, but the O’s seem to hit a lot of batters.

  22. Dela G says:

Damn, I hope you’re ok, jeter

  23. Kostas says:

that was on purpose. Fuck you Showalter

  24. mbonzo says:

Even if Cano went around he’s on 1st thanks to the WP/PB. Whats Showalter bitching about?

  25. Cy Pettitte says:

    fucking Swish

  26. mbonzo says:

    Bases loaded again?

  27. V says:

Strike 1 call on Swisher was utter bullshit.

  28. Mike Axisa says:

    Decline the option!

  29. Karl Krawfid says:

    Swish killing us

  30. teddy says:

swisher with 2 really bad at bats, damm

  31. Funny Bot says:

Does not compute…Cano does not take walks…let alone 2 in one game…Error…Error………………EEEEEERRROOOOORRR

  32. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Swish left 6 runners on base today

  33. JM says:

Geez, Swisher… 6 LOB by him alone.

  34. wow says:

these guys scored 17 last night.

  35. Cy Pettitte says:

    take notes Gardy

  36. Rich in NJ says:

Pie looked like he was running in quicksand.

  37. Cy Pettitte says:

    Rangers get Bell too…

  38. Cy Pettitte says:

    LOL Hardy.

  39. Ivan says:

If your a Jet fan, dont you love that Plaxico is a Jet. I think its a brilliant move. And in my opinion I think you can make the Jets a favorite and IMO Plaxico>>>>Ochocinco.

  40. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Lol Hardy

  41. Jack Merridew says:

lol, Orioles defense. Now this time take advantage and hit with RISP. Swisher won’t come up so we should be able to do it. DON’T BUNT!

  42. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Heeeeere comes the bunt!

  43. wow says:

  44. Cy Pettitte says:

Heyman – #rangers got mike adams

  45. mbonzo says:

Uh oh, bases are loaded again.

  46. ansky says:

Nunez was yanks first hit w less than 2 outs

  47. Cy Pettitte says:

    bases clearing triple!!!

  48. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

  49. Jack Merridew says:

That’s how you hit with the bases loaded! Take notes, Swisher!

  50. mbonzo says:

Gardner has had enough of your failure.

  51. wow says:

and without missing a beat Nunez loses the helment before touching home.

  52. mbonzo says:

Did they even mention Jeter out of the game?

  53. Jetrer says:

so who plays where now that Jeter is out?

  54. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Does anyone know what Sterling’s hr call for Cervelli is?

  55. warren says:

wut happened to jeter? im stuck at work but the box score says he was pinch hit for mid at bat!!!

  56. spectra says:

Just in Big news (from source that doesn’t exist). Derek Jeter had been taken out of the lineup because of a trade for Felix Hernandez

  57. Jack Merridew says:

Hopefully that’s a lesson to Girardi, don’t bunt in the 4th inning especially with a guy coming up that scorched the ball his first AB and Cervelli on deck. Got 4 runs instead of 2.

  58. Cy Pettitte says:

    Cervelli at second? oh lord.

  59. mbonzo says:

Cervelli at 2b… wtf? Cano is DHing.

  60. Karl Krawfid says:

Jeter out makes me sad :(

Cervelli at second makes me happy again :)

  61. spectra says:

Gamecast has Cervelli at 2B. please tell me its not true

  62. Justin says:

Oh god…Cervelli playing second? …I’m frightened.

  63. Brandon says:

    Cervelli at 2nd? Facepalm.

  64. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Jorge at 2b? That would be…fun.

  65. wow says:

oh no, please tell me Cervelli has a twin that plays second base…

  66. Rich in NJ says:

Kay mentions that Posada could still play 2B before realizing that it has been about a generation since he played it…

  67. warren says:

but wut in the hell happened to jeter??? someone please explain!!!

  68. Cy Pettitte says:

    Wandy to the Indians? lol.

  69. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Not a good day for Swish

  70. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Wandy talk is dead

  71. Cy Pettitte says:

Martin to Cervelli, you don’t see that everyday

  72. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

I can’t halp but laugh every time they show Cervelli at second

  73. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

I hope Verlander no-hits the Angels.

  74. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Verlander? Again?

  75. radnom says:

Just tuned in, I know Jeter is out, but why on earth is Cervelli playing 2nd??

    • Jetrer says:

its either that or lose the DH in the bottom of the 4th with a short bench (though I thought that would have been the better idea)

  76. bonestock94 says:

Jered Weaver is a fucking badass

    • Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

      What’d he do?

      • bonestock94 says:

Carlos Guillen hit a no doubt bomb and did an annoying strut. Weaver didn’t like it at all and yelled at Guillen as he was trotting to first. Ended up talking to the ump for a little while, clearly pissed, and the benches got warned. Avila comes up to bat and first pitch he very obviously throws one right over his head. Weaver ejected.

  77. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    X-Rays negative on Jeter. PHEW

I don’t think my heart can handle any more games with Fist Pump and Eduardo Scissorhands up the middle.

  78. teddy says:

damm wish they could got a run right there

  79. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Anyone else think it’s a little early to pull Garcia?

  80. Karl Krawfid says:

    no hitter ova

  81. Karl Krawfid says:

    Soriano is a team player.

    Jeter is not.

  82. tom says:

Did Kay say Noesi will bat second next inning? I thought Cano stayed at the same spot in the batting order, and that Noesi would be in Cervelli’s spot. Am I wrong?

  83. Cy Pettitte says:

    what the hell?

  84. Rich in NJ says:

    Seems a little like overmanaging.

  85. IRF says:

Hector Noesi since the June 22nd Implosion

    9 G, 16 IP, 18 K, 3 BB, 4 ER.

He seems to have settled in as a very valuable reliever

  86. wow says:

    trade? or bad attitude?

  87. neaks says:

i wonder who we just traded noesi for

  88. Ivan says:

    Cano with the Wheels!!!

  89. Rich in NJ says:

Thompson could have gotten Cano hurt with that late call.

  90. Jack Merridew says:

Robbie Thompson has to be decisive. Don’t wind him home with your right arm and stop him with your left. Almost got Cano nailed at 3rd.

  91. Rich in NJ says:

Martin just isn’t a good enough hitter to start almost everyday.

  92. Cy Pettitte says:

15 minutes til this boring stupid trade deadline week is over.

  93. Karl Krawfid says:

    D-Rob maine

  94. Jack Merridew says:

No bullpen help his necessary, DRob is awesome.

  95. Cy Pettitte says:

    DRob D-sgusting

  96. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    K-Rob is always good.

But today he was freaking unhittable. Yeah, I’l take that guy in the 8th instead of Soriano thank you very much.

  97. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    8th inning guy

  98. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Hahaha that Tino Martinez video is hysterical.

Paul O’Neill should be in the booth every day.

  99. Jetrer says:

Erik Bedard to the Red Sox. That should be interesting. I sense impending drama.

  100. Karl Krawfid says:

Martin sets up in the same spot every time when he catches Mo.

  101. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Ballgame over! Yankees win!

  102. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    fucking white sox.
