Yankees will send down Hector Noesi tomorrow

By

Via Joel Sherman, the Yankees will send Hector Noesi down to Triple-A Scranton tomorrow to make room on the roster for Bartolo Colon. Noesi will get stretched back out and work as a starter. Good.

    This is good.

Finally. I’d hate to be a prospect in the Yankees system. They are horrible with the kids.

    • CP

Yeah, it would suck to play fr a team where you’re likely to get a few World Series rings and play with a bunch of future HOFers.

      • Zack D

Yeah, it would suck to be a starter, turned reliever, now go stretch out be a starter, why aren’t you developed yet?, now you’re a reliever again.

        • CP

Yeah, because the one prospect they did that with defines how they handle all of their prospects. (and they didn’t even do that with Joba)

          • Zack D

They didn’t do that with Joba?
2007: In minors majority as a SP, then appeared as a RP.
2008: RP at first, stretch back to SP, injury, RP.
            2009: Starter full year
2010: Entered ST as starter, reliever all year
            2011: Reliever all year

We don’t even have asample size of Yankee prospects, it’s been like 4 guys. My comment was more about your “rings & HOFers” comment cause as we always see, players follow the $.

            • CP

The decision on Joba was not made because he ‘didn’t develop’. It was made because they thought his stuff would play better and he’d be more valuable in the pen and was more likely to stay healthy.

Even if you think they mis-handled Joba, what about Hughes, Nova, Wang, Cano, Gardner, Nunez and Robertson over the last few years? All of them were given plenty of chances to succeed in the majors.

The last few years should clearly show that the Yankees have their own opinions on players and they act on that regardless of what everyone else says. Just because they don’t trust the same players that the ‘conventional wisdom’ trusts doesn’t mean they’re doing something wrong.

              • Zack D

Hughes- Was injured more than Joba, stuff better in RP, curve regressed last year, couldn’t hit 90 this year, yet still a starter and Cashman said no bullpen.

Nova- It’s June. The question comes if he hits a tough mark and has a 4.75 era and becomes a RP so they can sign Freddy V2 as their 4/5 next year.

Wang- yes, a SP his entire career. And he developed.

This wasn’t even a not trusting prospects comment, was about SPs. And wait Nunez? He beat out Ramiro Pena and sitting behind Jeter for 3 more years.

My original comment was in response to:

Finally. I’d hate to be a prospect in the Yankees system. They are horrible with the kids.

So I was looking at all prospects, and the Yankees aren’t bad with prospects. They’re bad with prospects they don’t have confidence in, but that goes for every organization.

A World Series victory is never likely and I sincerely doubt they care care less about future Hall of Famers. There’s a reason why they have to trade for a bench nearly every year. And why doesn’t every draft pick sign?

Obviously Gerrit Cole was going to sign because there’s so much mystique and aura that it can’t be ignored amirite?!

A World Series victory is never likely and I sincerely doubt they care care less about future Hall of Famers.

It’s not just winning a World Series. It’s making the playoffs and playing in meaningful games. As for the HOFers, why do they bring draftees around the Major League team if that doesn’t matter?

And why doesn’t every draft pick sign?

That happens for every team. There are a lot of reasons, and few of them relate to the way the big league club handles their prospects. I am confident that even the worst MLB club is much better at handling/developing prospects than the best college.

Obviously Gerrit Cole was going to sign because there’s so much mystique and aura that it can’t be ignored amirite?!

Part of why he didn’t sign is because he wanted to go to college and have the college experience playing baseball – playing meaningful games to win a championship. So from that regard, it’s exactly what I’m talking about. Particularly for prospects, you’re talking about how much they may or may not make 4-6+ years in the future vs having a chance to win during that time.

    Right move. Wasting away.

  • J.R.

This means that Gordon goes to the pen. I don’t want to see him pitching any significant innings.

  • Jimmy McNulty

I can assure you that he’ll be in consideration for a starting spot by August. Garcia or Nova will start to suck; AJ, Colon, or Hughes will get hurt and it will be good to have a stretched out Noesi to take their place for a week or two.

  • M-Three

Ok, I understand the idea of making Noesi a starter again but what about the bullpen? Noesi has done a good job out of the bullpen.

Now outside of Mo and Robertson we really don’t have anyone to be confident in. The rest of that bullpen is now composed of an inconsistent lefty in Logan, a guy that we really don’t know what he is in Wade, a journeyman in Ayala who I don’t think Girardi trusts in close games and 2 mop-up guy with weak stuff who are incapable pitching in anything but blow outs. That is embarassing to have a bullpen with both Mitre and Gordon and us only having 2 trust worthy relievers.

Thank God, the long, national nightmare is over.

What will be the next manufactured controversy in Yankeeland??

    • JobaWockeeZ

And who the fuck is making this out to be a controversy?

      • Len S.

Since you asked so nicely, I will answer that I believe it was on nomaas.

  • Phil

I think Gordon would have gone down or been released if they knew for sure Colon is 100%. He is still here because of Saturday’s game.

  • Ryan 407

It wouldn’t stunt Noesi’s development if they let him pitch more than once every five days

  • CMP

Noesi should have been getting the innings that guys like Carlyle and Gordon got. Hopefully they’ll leave hIm alone the rest of this year because this season has been a waste so far in his development.
