Game 136: Tex-less

By

(Darren McCollester/Getty Images)

Is it just me, or does this game feel like no big deal? After that brutally intense and stressful series in Boston, three games at home against the Blue Jays kinda feels like Spring Training almost. There’s no buzz, we’re just going through the motions. Here’s the starting nine…

Brett Gardner, LF
Derek Jeter, SS
Curtis Granderson, CF
Robinson Cano, DH
Nick Swisher, 1B – no Jorge? ouch
Eric Chavez, 3B
Andruw Jones, RF
Russell Martin, C
Eduardo Nunez, 2B

Ivan Nova, SP

It’s a 7:05pm ET start, and you can watch the game on YES. Enjoy.

Call-Up News: Aaron Laffey is with the team. No idea what the 40-man move is, and frankly I don’t think there may have been one. I think that whole optioned/designated for assignment situation was just a bunch of confusion.

I put the odds on losing this game at 70%, even though Nova is going.

  • Roland Deschain

Tuesday was confirmation that Jorge Posada is finished. He won’t play against the lefties this weekend. Montero, Chavez, and Jones will be the DH the rest of the year. Another Yankee great fades away before our very eyes.

    • Pat D

Sad, isn’t it? But it happens.

Pretty much the only great Yankee who didn’t have that moment was Joe DiMaggio, because he sensed he wasn’t the player he once was and decided to leave on his own terms.

      • http://bleedingyankeeblue.com Jesse

Same thing with Pettitte, kinda sorta. He could have pitched this year, he was physically able for the most part.

        • FIPster Doofus

Yeah. Pettitte was excellent last year and superb in his final start. No shame in getting outdueled by Cliff Lee.

  • Pat D

    NoMaas called out ARod yesterday.

I found myself agreeing with them.

    • Rey22

No reason to push the issue on a regular season game when it’s almost a guarantee the Yankees will make the playoffs. I know it’s the Red Sox and they want to win the division, but a Healthy A-Rod in the playoffs > A-Rod in a mostly meaningless regular season game.

      • http://bleedingyankeeblue.com Jesse

Plus the Yankees won 2 of 3 so it really didn’t cost the team that he was out.

  • dkidd

    This game lacks tex appeal

    /hates self

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

I wonder what Jesus’s AB song will be.

    • SDM

      Jesus walks by kanye. West

  • Cy Pettitte

wow, I know Andruw and Swish have been hot but it says a lot that Jorge is sitting again.

and Joe, y u no Montero? give Russ a day off after yesterday’s brutally long game.

    • http://bleedingyankeeblue.com Jesse

He didn’t play Tuesday or Wednesday so he was rested up until last night’s game.

  • Brian S.

Teixeira is pitiful against right handed pitching, he will not be missed today. Hopefully he is back tomorrow though.

  • IRF

    So did anyone read this?

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/articl.....8;c_id=mlb

I swear Terence Moore is just trolling Ken Tremendous

  • Roland Deschain

Ivan Nova’s bid for ROY continues tonight. He can push it up to 18 wins, might have had a shot at 20 if they hadn’t sent him down. This kid has certainly outperformed and should win ROY.

  • Cy Pettitte

Pineda is my ROY. I like Nova but Pineda is just better.

    • http://twitter.com/Carlosologist_7 Carlosologist

I’d go with Ackley. He’s been fantastic since his call up. He’s hit .296/.371/.463 with about average defense. Nova will get votes because of his high win total, but other than that, I don’t see a very strong case for him.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Pineda’s really fallen off in the second half. Desmond Jennings has already passed Ackley in WAR.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Sounds like Ken Singleton caught Michael Kay’s wins disease.

    • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Also how do they not mention Dustin Ackley?

  • Cy Pettitte

damn those pigeons got great seats.

  • LiterallyFigurative

It’s amazing how you guys are glad Tex isn’t playing.

Teams are much better without Gold Glove, 30-100 1B’s in the lineup.

    • Roland Deschain

I agree. Even in today’s world and on this site people are fixated on Tex’s batting average. We’re a worse team without Teix, just like we are without A-Rod.

  • LiterallyFigurative

And on the second day, Jesus rests……..

  • Greg

YOu wonder if Tex makes that play

  • Karl Krawfid

    Nova sucks.

  • Cy Pettitte

come on BABIP, stop bending Nova over.

  • Greg

Its been like this for the Yankee rotation after CC. As soon as you get comfortable with one starter they slide a little bit.

    • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

      All rotations are like that.

      • Greg

        Except the Phillies.

  • Guns of the Navarone

    Holy shit.

  • Cy Pettitte

GARDY! holy shit! oh my god that just blew my mind.

  • Rainbow Connection

    ROY!!!!1!!11!!!!!

    • Brian S.

      LOL at you troll.

  • Karl Krawfid

Gardner is the fucking man though.

  • Jetrer

    Pure Grit

  • Roland Deschain

    Well done, Brett Gardner.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

    Holy Brett Gardner.

    • Sarah

      +1.

  • Greg

Babip giveth and Babip taketh away.

  • tom

If Morrow is throwing strikes this could be a long game for the Yankees

    • Guns of the Navarone

      Or hopefully a short one…

  • Roland Deschain

An ocean does not separate our hearts.

  • Across the pond

Something about Kim’s uber-dramatic voice is incredibly annoying.

    • FIPster Doofus

Yes it is. Because of that, I have to mute the TV whenever she does a human interest story.

  • Guns of the Navarone

I’m not sure how any objective person can really think Nova is the AL ROY at this moment (anything can happen over the next month). Unless you believe in wins… in which case your opinion doesn’t matter.

  • Cy Pettitte

    shifting for Cano is stupid.

  • Greg

Another candidate that I’ve heard about for AL ROY is Mark Trumbo.

  • Greg

Morrow has that nasty slider going

  • Guns of the Navarone

Morrow making the Yankees look foolish.

  • Hummingbird S.

This is going to be one of those frustrating games.

  • Karl Krawfid

Morrow just sucks. I’m sorry. The guy has been getting smacked around all year.

Fastball command sucks. His best pitch is his slider.

    • Greg

You do know that he shut down the Yankees earlier in the year.

      • Karl Krawfid

Yeah I do. Just like AJ use to do it in 08. Taking fastballs over the plate.

Swing and the Slider in the dirt. Over and over.

        • Greg

That comparison is pretty good. Morrow also had a crappy August.

        • Guns of the Navarone

If Morrow turns into AJ Burnett the Blue Jays would be ecstatic. And that would mean he doesn’t suck. AJ wasn’t always 34-year-old AJ.

      • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Not really. He had a huge lead and the Yankees kinda looked like they had packed it in.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Morrow’s got the highest strikeout rate in the AL and a lower WHIP than Mr. ROY Ivan Nova. He doesn’t suck.

      • Cy Pettitte

he a .500 pitcher. his important stats are really not that impressive.

        /Kay’d

    • FIPster Doofus

Morrow gets his ass kicked semi-regularly, but he can be absolutely lights out at times. He’s an inconsistent young pitcher with a world of talent.

  • Cy Pettitte

    oh come, that’s just sloppy

    • Cy Pettitte

      oh come on*

  • Karl Krawfid

    Jeter makes an error.

Paul O dumbass says Swish got off the bag the wrong way.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Where are all the people saying that we are better without Tex?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

That’s actually a play that Tex might have been able to make because he’s a righty thrower. He wouldn’t have had to reach across his body to make the catch like Swish. Plus he’s a few inches taller, might have been able to keep his foot on the bag. Who knows, doesn’t really matter anyway.

  • Greg

Andrew Miller is getting mauled by Texas. 5ER in 1.1 innings.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

I guess Escobar can’t find the guy in the white shirt…

  • CBean

    i miss Tex at 1B

  • jon

    what is he bitching about?

    • CBean

he’s asking where the man in white is

      • Karl Krawfid

        lol

  • Cy Pettitte

that Bautista moment is when I became an Ivan Nova fan

    • jon

im not sure what grew faster

bautistas home run number or his ego

      • Cy Pettitte

yea, you would think a career journeyman would be humble when he became successful. not so for him.

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

          That’s because he’s Latino!

  • Karl Krawfid

    THANK YOU

  • CBean

  • Guns of the Navarone

    Jacoby who?

  • Roland Deschain

    Gardner with a power surge!

  • Greg

    The Gardner plants one!

  • Cy Pettitte

    GARDY!!!!! OH BABY

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    GRITNER.

  • LiterallyFigurative

    Gardner….unslumped?

  • Ivan

Gardner is doing it all so far tonight.

    • Sarah

      Love. The Great Gardner.

  • Roland Deschain

    Never touched him. Great call.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Who needs replay?

    Selig’d

  • Cuso

    Whee!

Gardner’s up-and-down season continues! Here comes a hot streak!

    Carry it thru October baby!

  • LiterallyFigurative

How long till Paul and Kay start the inevitable food convo?

    • IRF

Theres a bucket of poutine in the booth

  • Karl Krawfid

So does Kevin Long read RAB?

“Karl Krawfid said this guy sucks”

  • Roland Deschain

Jim Leyland has a tirade earlier this season when another ump overturned the original call. I wonder if they just started doing that this year.

    • Skip

Naw, it happened to the Yankees in the playoffs a couple of years ago.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

I’d love to see them score some more runs and bring Proctor in later on.

  • teddy

anyone know how far gardner homerun when

    • Monteroisdinero

      370 feet best guess.

      • teddy

        thanks

  • boogie down

Just got here, saw the Gardner homer and that the Sox are down 6-0 through 2.1 innings. Also saw something above about Nova and Bautista; what happened?

    • jon

nova threw a pitch over bautistas head last time he faced him and when he came up and in tonight he freaked out

  • Karl Krawfid

    Defense baby

  • Cy Pettitte

    great catch by Andruw

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Andruw!

  • LiterallyFigurative

    Andruw The Giant!!!

  • Monteroisdinero

Way to have your head in the game Kay. At least you knew there were no outs. lol

  • Chen Meng Wang

    Andruw Brings it back.

  • LiterallyFigurative

I like Swish and what he brings to the team, but if we can find a defender with a comparable bat, it would imnprove the team, that much more.

    • jon

you do know swish has the highest urz for all right fielders this year right?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

That player doesn’t really exist, unless you think you can pry Jay Bruce away from the Reds.

  • Dino Velvet

Rangers crushing Sux 6-0 in the 3rd!

  • Guns of the Navarone

Texas is stickin’ it to Boston. STICKIN’ IT JERRY!!

  • Karl Krawfid

Um I thought Cano was playing 2nd :(

  • Roland Deschain

Get a couple more runs. Nova has settled down nicely and deserves his 15th W.

  • Monteroisdinero

Nunez-after some throwing jitters-has proven to be so valuable as a backup for 55M dollars of infielders. All for 475K at 24 years of age. Love it.

    • Guns of the Navarone

      Although he’s stopped hitting recently.

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

        He hasn’t stopped swinging though.

      • Monteroisdinero

he doesn’t have to hit much-just ignore the swing away sign and bunt in a close game with a man on 1st and no outs!

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

When you’re hot, you’re hot. Go Andruw.

  • dkidd

even though he’s been playing great for months, last night was the first time i really liked andruw jones as a yankee

  • Cy Pettitte

I cringe when they show that replay and Swish does the claw.

just not a good night for Swish last night.

    • 1stbase

      who cares

    • Guns of the Navarone

Agreed. Hopefully Old Man Jorge had a group sit down with him and Cervelli about the proper ways to celebrate…

      Sit still and remain stone-faced.

    • Karl Krawfid

      Miguel Tejada started that.

I believe Swish was on the A’s with him when he did. I might be wrong though.

      • Karl Krawfid

        And I am very wrong.

        • 1stbase

i think you’re right, they called it the spotlight

  • Guns of the Navarone

Something tells me Russell would be a bad choice to pick a fight with.

  • Roland Deschain

Nova threw that same pitch earlier and he called it a ball. The kid has really settled down, get him the W!

  • Dino Velvet

Does Nova start game 2, 3, or 4 in the playoffs?

    • jon

do you really think hes better than colon or fredy?

      • Dino Velvet

you know how managers are, they’re reluctant to use rookies in post season rotations. they believe in going with experience.

I don’t agree. But that’s the way they are.

    • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

      • http://bleedingyankeeblue.com Jesse

Although I have a man crush on Hughes, but I still think Phil will start a postseason game or four this year. Call me delusional, but we’ll see what happens.

        • Guns of the Navarone

          DELUSIONAL!

          (I went there)

          • http://bleedingyankeeblue.com Jesse

            I walked right into that, didn’t I?

  • teddy

    lets go cano.

  • Greg

    Cano adjusted to the slider.

  • Hummingbird S.

    Atta boy Robbie!

  • Guns of the Navarone

    ROBIEEEEEE!!

  • Cy Pettitte

wow that’s just a great piece of hitting

  • teddy

threw cano too many sliders, lets go swisher

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Game over. Nova has a lead.

  • pop up teixeira

    there you go cano!

  • Monteroisdinero

Swiah won’t be doing the claw again. Captain took him aside. “We’re the Yankees”

    • Monteroisdinero

      Swish

  • Mojo

Swisher is in Swisher’s head. Not a good place for Swisher to be.

  • teddy

i assume morrow done after 5 inning, he tough for the yanks to hit

    • Karl Krawfid

      Put Montero in.

  • dkidd

    david price: good at pitching

    • Guns of the Navarone

      He’s no Andrew Miller.

      • dkidd

        it’s still early

    • tom

Worst defensive CF’r in the AL (or is it all of baseball according to UZR?)

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    8-0 Rangers!

    • Mariano’s Pimp Hand

      10-0

  • jon

jones is a wizard out there

  • Cy Pettitte

this game has been a clinic on outfield defense

  • Greg

    Be careful with Bautista.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    IBB Bautista

  • Cy Pettitte

    bet they IBB Bautista here

  • Sarah

Andruw feeling frisky out there tonight!

  • teddy

you walking batista here right, any leftys up, nova leaving the ball up this inning

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Babip’d

  • Cy Pettitte

    phew.

  • Greg

    That was close.

  • Pat D

Nova’s getting too many deep fly balls and started to lose the zone. Better have someone ready to go.

  • Hummingbird S.

Nova is getting the benefit of some really good OF defense

  • Pat D

    Price just fell apart.

    • dkidd

i jinxed the hell out of him. posted how great he was and like an instant later he lost the plate

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Oh snap, the Orioles just took the lead over the Rays. That’s far more important than the Red Sox, in the big picture.

  • dkidd

some on this board seem to think nova’s peripherals doom him to #4/5 status

is he young enough to raise that ceiling?

    • Pat D

I haven’t pigeon-holed him yet. He clearly needs to increase the K’s to up his status.

      • Guns of the Navarone

I’d love to see that changeup develop. I saw him throw a few last year when he first came up for a swing and miss and it looked pretty sharp at times. Add to that more consistent command of his sinker (that I hope will come with time) and you should have a 200 inning, mid rotation guy.

  • Greg

Ironic about that ceremony isnt it. The timing of it

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Latino baseball HOF?

    /resists making a Salty joke

  • teddy

damm though they would take out morrow, good job nova

  • Mojo

    Morrow. Just. Won’t. Die!

  • Esteban

Dunno if this was discussed already, but I thought this article on ESPN was very interesting. Explains why Granderson is not highly rated by defensive metrics, and how Gardner’s range does not hurt Granderson’s numbers. Of course the comments on it are terrible.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-yo.....-evaluated

    • Karl Krawfid

Watching every game last year, He was worse defensively imo.

  • Mojo

Damn. Fantastic outing by Morrow. The guy has testicles. That he does.

  • mbonzo

If I was Girardi, I wouldn’t let Nova pitch after last inning.

    • pat

Lol. Good thing you’re not managing.

    • mbonzo

And this is why I’m not the manager.

  • Greg

    Well done Nova

  • Cy Pettitte

    SuperNova

wonder if Joe let’s him have one more to spare the pen. they were worked hard against the Sox.

    • Karl Krawfid

Maybe if they score more runs.

    • tom

With 8 and 9 due up, it wouldn’t be a terrible gamble (basically let him pitch the 8th until someone gets on)

That said Nova is near 100 pitches = typical Girardi auto-pull, when it’s past the 6th inning for a pitcher not named Sabathia

  • teddy

    great job nova!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. runs please

  • Chen Meng Wang

Wow, this game might be over before ten oclock…it’s flying compared to the last three.

    • Karl Krawfid

1 hour passed when the Sox were batting in the bottom of the 2nd last night. That was just wrong.

  • Greg

Ironic given the O’s are beating the Rays tonight.

  • Sarah

    Rangers 10- Sox -0 LOVE

  • Mojo

    Uno mas, por favor.

  • Monteroisdinero

Nova has 3 quality pitches most outings and 4 once in a while. Compare this to AJ and hughes.

  • teddy

did nunez swing at a 3 and 0 pitch?

    • Greg

      I think it was 3-1

    • 1stbase

      3-1

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Haha.

  • mbonzo

Question, lets say the Rays and Red Sox some how are within 1 game of each other at the end of the year. The Yankees play the Rays for the last 3 games. Do the Yankees purposefully blow those games to let the Rays take the wild card?

    I would.

    • Chen Meng Wang

If the Yankees have clinched the division at that point, I would have no problem “resting some regulars” and “setting up the rotation”

    • Pat D

The chances of that happening are probably slimmer than Kate Moss, so I wouldn’t be concerned.

      • mbonzo

Yea, but lets say the Rays sweep the Red Sox, there would then be a chance it happens. Its more a “what if” scenario anyway.

    • boogie down

Hm, but that would mean that the Sox were ice cold during September (may not be significant — think “2000 Yankees”) and that the Rays were red hot (may be significant — think “2007 Rockies”).

Granted, I’ve definitely just cherry-picked examples of past teams, but it may be worthwhile to consider the recent performances of both teams.

Overall, though, I definitely think the Red Sox would be a far more dangerous team in the playoffs. If the Yanks were to do what you mentioned, I wouldn’t totally mind it.

  • Karl Krawfid

    Jeter with a bingle

    • Mojo

      Sounds odd, yet intriguingly sexual.

  • Cy Pettitte

    lol Johnson

Joe gonna use Soriano 4 days in a row?

    • 1stbase

      didn’t pitch on wednesday

      • Cy Pettitte

        you’re right my bad.

  • Mojo

    MUST TAKE ADVANTAGE!

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

I would want Soriano as the closer over DRob.

  • teddy

ouch granderson not a great at bat there

  • Sarah

    Gardy on a roll tonight.

  • Karl Krawfid

    Bunt please.

  • teddy

    lets go swisher

  • LiterallyFigurative

Too close to take for Grandy.

This offense is so lethal. They hit Hr’s, steal bases.

Once they stop the unneccesary bunting, the Yanks will be the best ever!

  • Mojo

This hasn’t been Swisher’s week. Not expecting anything.

    • mbonzo

He’s hitting .348 with 3 homeruns over the last week.

      • Mojo

Sorry, guess I’m reflecting more on the past 3 days… Someone else in the thread just said it. I think Swisher needs a day off, as he rarely ever seems to get one.

    • forensic

.102 BA with risp and 2 outs anyway. I never expect him to do anything there.

      • Mojo

Wow. Holy shit. That’s… that is… I don’t know what to say. I’m appalled, quite frankly.

  • Karl Krawfid

I hope Swish doesn’t strike out so I have to look at him make that stupid face.

  • Monteroisdinero

Be nice to play Jorge one game over the weekend and give Swish a day off-he rarely gets one. Something to think about with Tex out.

  • Cy Pettitte

crap, really needed to take advantage there and tack on…

  • Karl Krawfid

    Hanging breaking ball.

  • Greg

    Threw him nothing but curveballs.

Nick and Grandy havent had good weeks offensively.

    • Jetrer

      Swisher last 7 days: 1.184 OPS, .498 wOBA, 220 wRC+

  • teddy

    good at bat by swisher

    • Greg

It actually was. He kind of got Babip screwed.

  • your mom

    Fucking Swisher.

  • Sarah

Now the BABIP luck has landed on Swish. Isn’t it enough for the BABIP gods that Tex is hurt? What more do they want?

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

Using Mo after he threw 30 pitches last night doesn’t sound like a very good idea…

    • Sarah

I confess to being surprised. Mo was used 2/3 games in Boston. DRob only the last one.

      • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

        D-Rob also pitched 2/3.

        • Sarah

Did he pitch Wednesday, cause he didn’t pitch Tuesday (I think)? He had pitched Sunday and Monday in Baltimore.

          • Jetrer

            no, you have it right
he pitched sun/mon vs. Baltimore, and then 2 days off before thurs. vs. Bos

    • teddy

agreed when yanks are going to the postseason

  • teddy

    double play please

  • Mojo

    Here’s hoping for solid Soriano…

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    I miss Tex :(

  • Roland Deschain

Come back soon, Teixera. Does a lot that people don’t appreciate.

  • Mojo

ET here is the most important out of the game.

  • jon

    lol blue jays suck chant

  • Cy Pettitte

Blue Jays suck chant? really? I thought we were above that.

    • Chen Meng Wang

As a group I think we are, however even amongst yankee fans there are mouth breathers.

  • Karl Krawfid

    Cano lite

  • Greg

    Nunez!

  • Ivan

    beautiful play by Nunez.

  • jon

    WOW

    great play nuni

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    hells yea Nunie!

  • Roland Deschain

Nunie’s done a great job at 2nd tonight. Bautista cannot hit with runners on base now.

  • teddy

i take that soriano, atleast batista can only tied the game, from gameday not the best control

  • Dino Velvet

Nunez with a cano like play

  • LiterallyFigurative

Nunez with a Cano-ian play to end the inning!

Muddy Chicken would’ve done two sumersaults AND a double barrel roll to get it.

    ;)

  • dkidd

    rays lose

    • Cy Pettitte

      fightin’ Showalters come out swinging

  • Chen Meng Wang

    That is one interesting mustache.

  • boogie down

It’s awesome that they did the WB Mason spot with that mustachioed fool on camera.

  • Mojo

Come on guys. 4 hits looks so meager and paltry. Make it six, will ya!

  • Karl Krawfid

I think Mo is gonna blow it :(

    • mbonzo

      Shut your mouth.

      • Karl Krawfid

        lol :)

    • Karl Krawfid

Being wrong never felt so damn good

  • Cy Pettitte

Mo vs. Bautista should be interesting

  • LiterallyFigurative

    MO VS. JOEY BATS!!!!!

    Heavyweight bout

    • LiterallyFigurative

      OWNED!

  • Mojo

I’d rather have DRob go against JB.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

I don’t get using Mo here. this would be 4 times in the last 5 games.

    • Greg

Well obviously DRob is not availible.

    • RayFo

Girardi wants him to get the saves record this season, I’m convinced of it.

      • Greg

        That could be it too.

    • forensic

Before that he was off 4 straight days and 6 of 7. I’m sure he’ll get the next day or two off anyway though.

  • tom

Does anyone know why Cervelli didn’t get the start at 2nd base?

  • Cy Pettitte

Nunez as a defensive replacement for Chavez?

  • Karl Krawfid

    Up and in Mo

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    Mariano pwned Joey bats.

  • Roland Deschain

LOL, that AB was beautiful pitching by Mo.

  • Cy Pettitte

    sit down Bitchtista.

  • Greg

JB just got taken to school.

  • Karl Krawfid

    Well Fuck. That was nasty.

    • Chen Meng Wang

Exactly what Bautista is thinking. That and Fuck, we lost to the Yankees again.

  • Sarah

    Mo >Joey Bats!

  • http://johnsterling.blogspot.com/ Xstar7

    Game. Set. Match.

  • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

    6 more until 602!

    • Freddy Garcia’s 86 mph Heat

      7 more.

  • Dino Velvet

    FIRST!

  • LiterallyFigurative

    WHEW! That was close

    1ST PLACE!!!!

  • Chen Meng Wang

Kay really has to stop with “put it in the left side” it sounds forced.

    • Dino Velvet

sounds like Hawk Harrelson’s “you can put it on the board”

      • Chen Meng Wang

At least Hawk’s sounds at least semi-natural(possibly I’m just used to hearing it). Kay’s just sounds like “Oh, here’s a good spot for me to squeeze it in real quick.”

        • Pat D

He didn’t start doing it until that series where the White Sox visited the Stadium. I think he was doing it to be parodic at first, now I just think he’s doing it to be annoying.

          • Chen Meng Wang

He’s definitely succeeding in being annoying with it. When ever I hear it, some of the joy of the win is immediately lost and replaced with the urge to punch something for a second.

  • Cy Pettitte

    great game

  • mbonzo

Yankees back in first, E# is now 17.

  • ItsATarp

Yankees don’t know how to win close games

    • Dino Velvet

And they hit too many home runs.

  • Skip

Wait, it’s 10PM and the game is already over? What am I going to do with the extra hour and a half left over from last night’s game?

  • billysbartender

    switch the flags!!

  • pop up teixeira

Nova did his thing tonight once again and yanks back in 1st!

  • dkidd

    mo closing in on hoffman

  • Dino Velvet

    30 games over .500

  • Zanath

This game was just so much less stressful after that Red Sox series.

  • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Ricky Ledee should be the magic number 17, not Jerry Hairston Jr.

    • tom

Some of us old folk would say Mick the Quick.
