Can we also have a magic number countdown for the division?

  2. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

liking this lineup tonight. A Rod back against the Jays this weekend?

    • Montero's Mojo says:

I’d rather have him 100% then risk using him at anything below. Let him rest and hopefully the mental break and physical repose will pay colossal dividends in the playoffs.

      • thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

Yanks have been fine without him…Just hope he gets some at bats before the post season to get his timing back

      • Urban says:

The problem, though, is one of timing. After the surgery, A-Rod has only had 46 PAs for the entire second half of the year, and they haven’t even been consistent PAs because of the thumb injury.

A-Rod’s timing early this season was strong, his fielding excellent. They need to get him back to that and they only way he can do that is with PAs against living pitching. They’re running out of time, so it’s a balance between the health of his hand and games remaining.

      • JoeyA says:

I’ve been saying this to my friends for awhile. Alex is no lover the player that can still be a top offensive threat at 70-80%. He’s getting up there and it’s important he plays close to, if not only, 100%. We have a worthwhile replacement in Chavez (BIG credit to Cash), let him man 3B until Alex feels perfect. Oct>Sept

  3. Slappy White says:

Has anyone commented on Bob Ryan saying that although Mariano is a great pitcher, the Closer position is overrated ?….on a day when his beloved red Sox blew a save….what a jackass

    • mbonzo says:

I don’t care what Ryan has to say, but the save stat is flawed in general, and for that reason I’d rather call him a high-leverage pitcher rather than a closer.

    • Jesse says:

I saw that on PTI. He’s a fucking joke. I was so pissed off when I heard that. Also Mitch Williams said that the 8th inning is more important than the 9th inning. It’s completely and utterly stupid with the amount of hate of the Yankees and their players. I swear, if the Yankees can win the World Series it will be sweeter than ever.

      • Chen Meng Wang says:

Mitch Williams should be taken as seriously as that guy I saw on a subway platform a couple weeks ago going on about Judgment Day being upon us.

      • Slappy White says:

I bet Phillie fans wish Mariano would have been pitching to Joe Carter that time instead of old Mitch

    • nedro says:

Can’t deal with the fact the Yanks invented the position with the likes of Sparky Lyle and it gained further credibility with the likes of Gossage and now it’s pretty much de rigeur.

    • Urban says:

I have no idea who Bob Ryan is and have no interest in learning.

If he’s a Red Sox reporter, I’m sure he’d say differently if it was a RS player.

  4. Monteroisdinero says:

    Nova……nice guy.

  5. Chen Meng Wang says:

Lets make this a quick one boys…I’ve got work early tomorrow.

  6. SevenAces says:

Nice AB even though he didn’t get on base.

  7. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Goddamn Safeco field.

  8. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    damn yellowstone park

  9. teddy says:

granderson just missed that, 2 very good at bats

  10. Mike Axisa says:

23 pitches in a 1-2-3 inning. Vargas has Phil Hughes disease. Foul ball after foul ball after foul ball.

  11. FIPster Doofus says:

Probably as a good a 1-2-3 inning as you’ll see from an offense.

  12. Dude says:

if theres a way to go 123 thats probably the way to do it

  13. Chen Meng Wang says:

If Nova pitches really well the rest of the way does he get the game 2 start?

  14. JobaWockeeZ says:

    5 pitches.

  15. Urban says:

    Four pitches? Nice.

  16. FIPster Doofus says:

Same results for both offenses, but the Yankees went about it way better.

  17. teddy says:

    good job nova,jesus time!

  18. SevenAces says:

    5 pitches, 3 outs. EFFICIENT.

  19. Montero's Mojo says:

    Speaking of good 1-2-3 innings…

  20. tom says:

Hmmm…Nova’s 123 inning seems to have gone just a bit smoother than Vargas’.

  21. BK2ATL says:

Beautifully, efficient 1st inning from Nova. 5 pitches, 3 outs.

Hope he keeps it up, the efficient part that is.

  22. Cuso says:

    Gotta love that inning, huh?

  23. Dude says:

Andrew Jones the most casual fielder in the game i was sure he had given up on that foul

  24. nedro says:

Oh, no, Robbie, that was just ugly.

  25. Cuso says:

    Swisher histrionics again

  26. Stratman9652 says:

So is there any farther of a gap between what we expected and what really happened than A Rod’s season this year? He came in in great shape, fully healthy and crushing baseballs looking like he would have a epic year. Sure enough he ended up hurt for a huge chunk of the year. Talk about shitty luck.

  27. Chen Meng Wang says:

Doesn’t Kay know, a little bit of floor spice makes everything nice?

  28. teddy says:

wow jesus and cano look stupid

  29. Cuso says:

hmm. Vargas doesn’t ‘look’ that overpowering.

The hitters must not be picking up the ball out of his hand yet.

2nd time thru they’ll get him.

  30. teddy says:

    damm 2 groundball singles

  31. Kostas says:

Its kind of funny to see a full year later that Smoak was the reason the Yankees did not get Cliff Lee last year. #fail.

  32. Monteroisdinero says:

    Ivy league factory?

  33. Cy Pettitte says:

YES went from no commercials yesterday to commercials in the middle on the inning today

  34. teddy says:

leiter going with the heart and gut thing

  35. Kostas says:

Do i start Peyton Hillis this weekend?

  36. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    96 on the Mariner’s broadcast!

  37. Tom Zig says:

    Thank you Wily Mo!

  38. FIPster Doofus says:

  39. Chen Meng Wang says:

Huge turn around by Nova there. Still only at 20pitches for the game btw.

  40. Kostas says:

There is clearly no better 2nd baseman when it comes to turning a double play than Cano.

  41. Cuso says:

    Smooth Cano, nice turn Jeter.

  42. Urban says:

It’s not an either/or situation, Michael, or a battle between sabermetrics and “old school” talent evaluators. It’s a balance of both.

  43. Tom says:

That was some pitching… reached back for a few mph’s in a tight spot for the K and then gets the groundball….

That’s the difference between throwing and pitching.

  44. Monteroisdinero says:

This is a low pressure game if there ever was one.

  45. Urban says:

So now that Bard has been less than great, and Papelbon has had a good year, what do anyone think the Red Sox will do with Papelbon. Let him walk? Sign him?

    • Tom says:

They have to sign him I think. If you plug Bard in as closer, then you have the inconsistent and oft injured Jenks as your setup man? That weakens two spots in the pen.

The Red Sox need to sign a closer/later reliever (whether its Paps or one of the other FA’s)

  46. Will (the other one) says:

An .833 OPS from my part-time left fielder/bench bat? Yes, thanks.

  47. Tom says:

Hit and run? GB hitter, pitcher without dominant stuff….

    Nevermind 2 quick strikes

  48. mbonzo says:

I kinda think playing the Orioles, who will probably be at 100% with Buck pushing them to finish strong, is about as hard as playing the Yankees at 50% after clinching a playoff spot.

  49. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Bard has a 30.86 ERA over his last 3 appearances. I know ERA doesn’t mean shit with a reliever, but that’s still pretty funny.

    • BK2ATL says:

Just means that we’ll see Paplepuke in Boston next year as the closer.

      • Chen Meng Wang says:

Was there ever really a doubt they were gonna bring the PapelBitch back?

        • Urban says:

I think there was doubt after the year PapelCum (hey, might as well continue with the theme) had in 2010 and the year Bard had. It seemed like they were grooming Bard for the closer’s role. The other issue is PapelClit’s ego and his desire to be the highest-paid reliever in the game.

      • Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

I honestly would be OK with that. No way he repeats his performance next year, and they will have to spend money on him that they could have been using to get a better starter.

  50. teddy says:

yanks having trouble squaring up his fastball

  51. Cy Pettitte says:

  52. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Andruw is slow :(

  53. FIPster Doofus says:

Dumb move to send him. He’s slow.

  54. Tyrion Lannister says:

Jones ain’t that fast Robbie Thompson. Horrible send. Just awful.

  55. Tom says:

    Ridiculous send with 1 out…

  56. teddy says:

god awful decsion, yanks not playing smart baseball

  57. Cuso says:

They’re not picking up the ball out of his hand.

    Gotta be the reason.

  58. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Haha, you could tell from the shot of Jones rounding 3rd that he had no chance.

He doesn’t have Posada speed, but let’s just say that Andruw isn’t exactly Brett Gardner on the basepaths.

  59. Karl Krawfid says:

    Dumb send.

Dude has a tear in his Knee.

  60. mbonzo says:

I saw where the ball was when Jones was at 3rd and smacked my own face when I saw him keep going.

  61. Rainbow Connection says:

He was slow getting to third.

  62. Montero's Mojo says:

Man would I love to see Montero catching instead of Martin. Nothing against Russel, but I like my backstops BIG, BRAWNY, and VENEZUELAN!

  63. Monteroisdinero says:

    Not angry at Thompson.

  64. Cuso says:

That out at the plate was a given.

  65. Chen Meng Wang says:

Wow, just saw the highlight…Jones was barely around third when the throw hit Ackley.

  66. Bartolo's Colon says:

honestly i don’t know enough about baseball to know if robbie thompson is a good third base coach, but to me i think he seems to make alot of dumb decisions. thoughts?

  67. FIPster Doofus says:

Well, they fucked that inning up. Nicely done, Rob.

  68. BK2ATL says:

Arghhhh. #RISPFail. Hate those when it happens to us.

Vargas is at 60 pitches after 3 innings. Methinks, we’ve seen enough and will be squaring off on him in the coming innings.

  69. teddy says:

damm nova leaving the ball up

  70. Monteroisdinero says:

We don’t need the pumpkinseedeater. No i in team.

  71. Chen Meng Wang says:

Mr. PlasticBadge is just wearing sun glasses to hide the fact he’s smoking before work

  72. FIPster Doofus says:

  73. teddy says:

    damm jeter and cano

  74. BK2ATL says:

Our defense is pretty damn good!!!

  75. Sarah says:

Cano making it look easy again.

  76. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Jeter may not be a good defensive shortstop overall, but nobody turns a double play smoother than he and Cano.

  77. Urban says:

Sheriff is a cooler sounded title than police officer. Add in sunglasses, and the picture is complete.

  78. Monteroisdinero says:

Love Tex throwing it to Robbie after the 3rd out.

  79. Chen Meng Wang says:

  80. Rey22 says:

I was for Bartolo starting game 2 in the playoffs, but Nova just keeps impressing. Might be leaning more towards him these days.

  81. teddy says:

    thats wasn’t good

  82. Tyrion Lannister says:

Teixera is one of the best hitters in the game, Dave O’Brien? Could of fooled me.

  83. Sarah says:

    The hell, guys? 6 pitches?

  84. Monteroisdinero says:

Quick game so far in front of typically catatonic west coast crowd. Latte, book. And oh, look up, a baseball game!

  85. Mike Axisa says:

Two leadoff walks to bad hitters in the first four innings. Well done, Ivan.

  86. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Is the trivia Dave Righetti?

    Goose seems too easy.

  87. Monteroisdinero says:

  88. Tyrion Lannister says:

    Martin nabs another one.

  89. Monteroisdinero says:

  90. Chen Meng Wang says:

    Wow, he was toast.

  91. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    1) That looked like strike 3

    2) That was a pathetic stolen base attempt.

  92. JT says:

What do these baseball players know… the fans and stats say otherwise.

Jonathan Niese 2011 (2.7 war) > Mariano Rivera (in all but 4 years of his career)

  93. Montero's Mojo says:

Nice to see the offense took a day off earlier than scheduled

  94. Karl Krawfid says:

    Nova never has fastball command.

  95. teddy says:

the great adam kennedy, why does it feel sea offensive is been better this series

  96. jon says:

    what the fuck was that

  97. Cy Pettitte says:

    free run

    great job

  98. Monteroisdinero says:

    Martin should have caught that.

  99. teddy says:

pathetic, embarssed him with a fastball thrn a curve, yanks are on drugs

  100. Greg says:

Dammit I want a Five game lead!

  101. Chen Meng Wang says:

I can haz yankee offenze plz?

  102. BK2ATL says:

Damn it, Ivan. One pitch too late. Oh well. If that’s the worst it gets…..

  103. Monteroisdinero says:

    We score now.

  104. BK2ATL says:

Damn it, Ivan. One pitch too late. Oh well.

If that’s the worst it gets…..I think we’ll be okay.

  105. Chip says:

I love this part of the season. I’m really to the point I don’t care. Just play .500 baseball the rest of the way and we have the division locked up. Wild pitch? O well

  106. Tyrion Lannister says:

The offense needs to do something. We had something going then Robbie Thompson sent one of our slowest runners with 1 out and Jeter due up. Save us, Jesus.

  107. Cy Pettitte says:

    Montero’s groin > Smoak’s groin

  108. Montero's Mojo says:

I’m a bit convinced that the team is still reeling… I think the King’s Onslaught was simply an outlier.

    • 1stbase says:

i’am not, they haven’t had a day off in forever, this is the last game on the west coast they wanna get on the plane as fast as possible and get some rest finally

  109. Chen Meng Wang says:

    That looked ugly Jesus.

  110. Tyrion Lannister says:

Vargas is a clown, a mediocre pitcher making our hitters look silly. 1 hit all night.

  111. Cy Pettitte says:

    offense MIA

  112. FIPster Doofus says:

  113. Chen Meng Wang says:

    Vargas, spanish for Koufax?

  114. BK2ATL says:

Ummm…don’t look now, but we’re getting 1-hit by Vargas.

  115. Greg says:

Well the fact that we beat up Felix Hernandez probably is counterbalanced by this game via the baseball gods.

  116. Kostas says:

How the hell is Willie Mo Pena still employed at the major league level?

  117. Kelly says:

    offense not showing up tonight

  118. Chen Meng Wang says:

Micheal Kay, king fucking instigator. Nobody can ever be right when they’re talking to him.

  119. nedro says:

    Ouch. C’mon, Nova.

  120. Kelly says:

nova looks like he did his last time out in baltimore. not locating pitches, walking guys. hes gotta hold it here incase our offense decides to show up

  121. your mom says:

We gonna take the lead this inning.

  122. Karl Krawfid says:

    It’s still 1-0

  123. nedro says:

  124. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Bruschi’s rant about Ochocinco was so stupid.

He’s in awe of Brady because he’s really good, not because he doesn’t understand the playbook.

    Screw “the Patriot way”

    • Kostas says:

Proof that just because you play the game, doesn’t mean you know what the fuck your talking about.

      • AaronGuielWithASmile says:

I call it “the Joe Morgan effect”

      • Chen Meng Wang says:

Seriously, I just read the exact quote by Bruschi. To steal a word from my British friends, he sounds like an utter twat. That’s like saying it’s wrong to be in awe of Lebron if your on the same team as him. In the restaurant I work in, that I’m a part of, I’m amazed at how quickly our chefs get things done, does that mean I’m not involved enough in the restaurant Teddy?

  125. NHYankeesFan says:

Vargas is bringing back a lot of terrible memories of Cliff Lee this game

  126. Montero's Mojo says:

Don’t waste another good pitching performance. This feels EXACTLY like the Weaver/Haren games, except, this time, the opposing team kind of, just a little bit, in a way, somewhat suck.

  127. Greg says:

They just cant get a good swing off of Vargas. The one time they did, the third base coach made an error.

  128. Cuso says:

    2-out magic c’mon

  129. Montero's Mojo says:

    Thank you, Curtis!

  130. Greg says:

He’s basically Freddy Garcia’ ing the Yankees right now.

  131. Kostas says:

I can’t believe the Yankees don’t play tomorrow. Quitters.

  132. Karl Krawfid says:

    Kershaw getting gangsta

  133. Cy Pettitte says:

Kershaw got ejected for beaning Parra in the 6th throwing a 1 hitter? no warnings. crazy.

  134. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Seeing Andruw Jones lumber around LF these days, it’s kind of hard to remember that he’s one of the greatest defensive outfielders in the history of baseball.

    • AlecT says:

He was probably the best OF ever, defensively. He was up there with Tris Speaker and Joe DiMaggio in terms of reputation. Too bad he got fat by 30.

  135. Tom says:

    1st 3 innings: 10 batters, 60 pitches
    next 3 innings: 10 batters, 26 pitches

While some of it is certainly on the pitcher, why is the 2nd time through the order a hackfest? It would be one thing if they were making solid contact on pitches early in the count but they are swinging at anything close early in counts the second time through the lineup.

  136. Cuso says:

Ok, so they’re not looking like they’re gonna hit tonight.

But I still think Nova is pitching pretty well.

  137. Monteroisdinero says:

If Montero had let that high inside curve go off his glove for the run-all would be blaming him and his defense for this game.

    Not fair.

  138. Montero's Mojo says:

Damn it! This game blows. Jesus, help us.

  139. BK2ATL says:

Nova’s pitching a helluva game. That one inning control brainfart notwithstanding, and even that wasn’t really that bad.

  140. nedro says:

My son sent a card to Mo in Tampa during ST and it came back signed. Gorgeous.

  141. Chen Meng Wang says:

    Come on Tex, something positive!

  142. James A says:

Brandon Stokley: your move eagles, your move.
As for this game, like seeing Nova battle when he’s not his sharpest, although I’m still so unsure of how the playoff rotation is going to look.

  143. teddy says:

teix can go to hell, 3 and 1 hacking. he is a dreadful 3 hitter

    • Greg says:

To be fair., 3-1 is a hitters count, Mr. Ruxpin.

      • Tom says:

To be fair when one is in a hitter’s count, a changeup down in the zone is not the pitch you are looking to do damage on…

You look fastball and if the pitcher throws something offspeed for a strike you tip your cap and get ready for 3-2.

        • Jetrer says:

to be fair, the purpose of a changeup is to fool the hitter into thinking it’s a fastball. Tex didn’t choose to swing at a changeup, he was fooled into thinking he did get a fastball

  144. Monteroisdinero says:

Tex swings at a 3-1 changeup that was ball 4.

  145. Rey22 says:

Offense with one foot in the airplane already…

  146. Chen Meng Wang says:

    eek…that was terrible Robby.

  147. Montero's Mojo says:

HAHAHA! He’s the worst offensive papsmear on this team. I’d even take Big Papi’s flop-sloppy glove at first base to blind me from the atrocity that is Mark Teixera. Can’t stand Teixera. I don’t care what anyone says, he does NOT belong in the 3 hole.

  148. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    wtf….Vargas????? cmon

  149. Monteroisdinero says:

Just crappy abs with no plate discipline so far.

  150. Cy Pettitte says:

    mind = blown.

maybe put Pena on the mound and he could throw 7 shut out innings.

  151. BK2ATL says:

    Shades of 2010….Cy Vargas….WTF???

  152. Cy Pettitte says:

  153. Jetrer says:

    damn stat padder

  154. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    A run!!!

  155. Greg says:

    They finally got to him.

  156. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

  157. Kostas says:

Ha… al that fucking talk about how Vargas is dominating, it was only a matter of time.

  158. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Tie game

  159. BK2ATL says:

    Nick Freaking Swisher!!!!! Thank you!!!!

  160. Rey22 says:

    Brand new ballgame!

  161. Montero's Mojo says:

Ugh. Now they HAVE TO win it . . . I don’t like to be teased.

  162. Chen Meng Wang says:

Finally!!!!!!!! and wow Wedge has a really quick hook huh?

  163. Mike Axisa says:

Too bad there was NO PRESSURE.

  164. Cuso says:

Ok. Even I have to say good job.

I still hate you, Nick. But well done, dude.

    • Montero's Mojo says:

Haha, why do you hate the Swishalicious? Aside from his stats with RISP.

At the games I’ve gone to, he’s easily the most outgoing and altruistic player on the field. He lives for baseball. He loves the fans. I even had a chance to talk to him and he gave me a ball. He’s just very extraverted.

  165. pop up teixeira says:

    hell yea shisher!!

  166. Monteroisdinero says:

    Pad those stats anytime Nick!

  167. tom says:

The way the game’s gone, I just assumed Swish’s ball would be caught at the wall.

Still can’t believe they’ve been this weak against Vargas.

  168. Chen Meng Wang says:

ain’t nothin but a loud strike.

  169. teddy says:

    whoo! that was close

  170. Cy Pettitte says:

    no more fastballs for Olivo

  171. MikeD says:

It’s a new day. Time for a run, a Mo save, and a win.

  172. Stratman9652 says:

Only 78 pitches through 7? Very nice. He could probably throw a CG if they score a run here.

    • BK2ATL says:

He’ll get yanked….as our manager can’t resist himself. Nova just had a strong 7th too. It makes no sense. Nova’s got them under control.

  173. Cuso says:

C’mon offense, get this kid a run or two…

  174. teddy says:

lol nice, gardner should tried to steal

  175. Jesse says:

    Pinch run for Andruw please.

  176. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

At this point complaining about the bunting is just not worth the energy

  177. Montero's Mojo says:

Chances BG gets picked off/thrown out? Unless the HR signified a turning of the tables, I can’t say that my confidence in Brett is very high at the moment…

  178. Jetrer says:

gotta love giving up outs to bunt over basestealers

  179. MikeD says:

Sure, get him to second using up an out, as opposed to a straight steal to put him on second with no outs.

    Steal third!

  180. Mike Axisa says:

Bunting to get to Nunez? At least pinch-hit Chavez.

  181. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

When will Girardi learn to 1.STEAL then 2.bunt??

  182. teddy says:

stupid bunting, yanks really trying not to score

  183. NHYankeesFan says:

I was just looking at Matt Moore’s pitch fx data from todays games and he has some ridiculous stuff. His fastball averaged 95.6 mph and 10.26 inches of horizontal movement which is just crazy. His changeup averaged 86.9 mph and 15.23!!! inches of horizontal movement. His slider averaged just under 83 mph and had 4.3 inches of horizontal movement. thats a difference of 14.5 inches between his fastball and slider

  184. swishers fauxhawk says:

  185. Chen Meng Wang says:

Hooray…wasting an out moving a guy to second who could’ve stole the base anyway.

  186. Cuso says:

    Brackman sighting

  187. Montero's Mojo says:

BUCKING FUNT! Why doesn’t Joe get reamed by Upper Management for this small ball bullshit?

  188. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

dont worry everybody Proctor is warming up

  189. All Praise Be To Mo says:

NOOOOO!!!!! Why have Martin bunt with Gardner on 1st and no out? Let him steal 2nd at least before wasting an out. Girardi, you suck!!!

    • Tom says:

Or hit and run (Martin hits the ball on the ground a lot, and you at least have a shot at the ball going through)

I’m pretty sure Girardi doesn’t even have a sign for the hit and run.

  190. Naved says:

Proctor sighting too…..please don’t bring him in

  191. Jesse says:

NOOOOOOOOO Why the fuck is Proctor warming!?!?!?!

  192. your mom says:

    Brackman warming up. LOL!!!

  193. Tom O says:

Holy crap, Brackman is tall. I knew he was, but seeing him next to Proctor, he towers over him.

  194. Jesse says:

    Bloop single to right please.

  195. Greg says:

Remember Robertson threw 30 pitches yesterday.

  196. Greg says:

I tell you what, you guys are angry at the bunt but Kay and Leiter didnt seem upset.

    • All Praise Be To Mo says:

Because they’re on the YES payroll and I’m sure the bosses wouldn’t like to hear them criticizing their manager. Plus if I disagree with Kay that means I’m correct. To quote Hollywood Henderson “That guy couldn’t spell cat if I spotted him a C and a T”….

  197. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Right down Broadway

  198. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

well, that was small ball at its worst

  199. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    The bunt worked!!

  200. Chen Meng Wang says:

It still seems our offense is halfway to Toronto right now.

  201. swishers fauxhawk says:

    Good thing we bunted.

  202. ItsATarp says:

good thing we bunted so Gardner didn;t have a chance to steal

  203. your mom says:

    Boy, I’m glad we bunted.

  204. Jetrer says:

that’s ok Captain, don’t swing at the pitches down the middle

    • Sarah says:

So much ridiculous in this inning. Bunting before Gardner can steal? Letting Nunez hit instead of PH Chavez? And then Jeter just looking?

I know they want to get on the plane and get their day off, but it would be faster to, you know, get a lead.

  205. Avi says:

Anyone else notice Jeter closing his stance in that At Bat?

  206. teddy says:

giradri is a awful manager, he bats teix 3rd when he sucks and jeter taking pitches right down the pipe and hacking typical

  207. Cuso says:

Got a feeling Martin bunted the first pitch on his own.

He was probably supposed to bunt at some point during the AB, just not the 1st pitch

  208. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

I must say, I’m surprised that Proctor’s not pitching now.

  209. Montero's Mojo says:

The bunt did its job, guys. Gardner got to second! That’s all that Joe is trying to accomplish because in Girardi Land, getting to second base is JUST as good as scoring.

  210. BK2ATL says:

I just don’t get why you bring in Gardner, don’t give him the chance to steal 2nd, but then you bunt him to 2nd??? Why not let him get to 2nd, then bunt him over to 3rd. Then you have a runner on 3rd with one out.

I don’t mind small ball in the right situations, but make some fucking sense. And this isn’t the first time we’ve done this recently.

  211. Cy Pettitte says:

    this guy again? ugh.

  212. Greg says:

Now look at the Mariners bunt.

  213. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Mariner’s broadcast turning into Hawk Harrelson.

  214. Cy Pettitte says:

could have gone to third if Chavez PH and was playing 3rd. good job Nunie you shithead.

  215. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

when the fuck in Nunez going to learn to stay home on that bunt…Nova could have gone to third for that out

  216. ItsATarp says:

    Holy shit Nunez…COVER THIRD.

  217. Jesse says:

    Walk Ichiro please.

  218. All Praise Be To Mo says:

Nunez again messed up, I remember a bunt defense earlier this year where the runner would have been out if he covered 3rd, again he’s not paying attention and makes a bad mistake. He may be talented but not too many baseball smarts.

  219. Cuso says:

    Stick with Nova, I agree

  220. Cy Pettitte says:

bring in DRob to save the day

  221. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

That’s like the 5th time this year that Nunez has fucked up that bunt play.

  222. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Nunez just has no idea what he’s doing at the hot corner.

Can he get better in the field? Sure. But that’s a play that they teach you in JV ball.

  223. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

every time nunez fucks up…it always cost the Yanks….they will score this inning because of that stupid play

  224. MikeD says:

Sounds like the Mariners are playing a laugh soundtrack to the Yankees walking Ichiro. I guess they have lost all faith in Ichiro.

  225. Hall and Nokes says:

    Nunez is such a DH.

  226. Sarah says:

Hey look, men on 1st and 3rd for DRob. This way he doesn’t have to put them on!

  227. Elan says:

Why Nunez is playing in Major League games is beyond me…

  228. NHYankeesFan says:

If Girardi’s going to bring Robertson in, he should have loaded the bases first to make sure no runs will score

  229. Montero's Mojo says:

Leave the kid in for Fuck’s sake.

  230. Tom says:

At what point does he consider a defensive sub for 3rd?
Is there a rule where you can only replace OF’rs that I’m not aware of?

Chavez is probably tired after spending all day on the bench yesterday and with an off day tomorrow you don’t want to burn him out.

  231. your mom says:

Good job Nova. Too bad the offense didn’t show up again.

  232. Mister Delaware says:

One of the few times I’m going to like the IBB.

  233. CUYanks says:

Maybe the Nunez thing will be a blessing in disguise. I have seen that ball thrown away down the third base line too many times on that type of play. Also, for all the flak we’re giving Girardi when it appears he’s not managing to min September games, have to like the thought here bringing Robertson in for a strikeout (regardless of outcome). If anything, it’s a good preview of how we might see him used come postseason.

  234. your mom says:

Should load the bases so DRob can K the last 2 hitters.

  235. Chen Meng Wang says:

Interesting to see how this works out. These situations scream for Robertson.

  236. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    one more D Rob

  237. Chen Meng Wang says:

Wow, not tagging at all…I’d at least go back to the base to make Gardner think about it.

    • Mister Delaware says:

Meh. There’s a better chance those 5 steps will help if Gardner drops the ball than tagging would make Gardner “think” and mess up. 99.9999997% chance Gardner just catches the ball.

  238. Monteroisdinero says:

New chapter in binder section on late inning defense.: Chavez for Nunez.

  239. your mom says:

Where did DRob get his extra velocity from this year? I remember him sitting 91-93 previous years.

  240. Scott Proctor 2006 says:

That a boy, D-Rob. You’ve done my former right arm proud.

  241. Mister Delaware says:

  242. Montero's Mojo says:

Wow. No idea Ichiro had 40 SB.

  243. Chen Meng Wang says:

  244. Cy Pettitte says:

    DRob > everyone else.

  245. Kostas says:

Damn.. Robertson is just fucking awesome

  246. Bartolo's Colon says:

pretty certain mo is slowly transferring his powers to d rob

  247. flamingo says:

  248. Jetrer says:

    DRob is fucking awesome

  249. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Bard woulda blown it right there.

  250. pop up teixeira says:

this D Rob guy is a good pitcher huh

  251. Cuso says:

    How good has he become?

    He’s so ill.

  252. Jesse says:

    D-Rob for President.

  253. Montero's Mojo says:

PHEW! At least SuperNova can’t get the loss. No matter the outcome, I am now content.

  254. FIPster Doofus says:

Robertson is such a fucking boss.

  255. CUYanks says:

David Robertson has been an unbelievable revelation this year.

  256. MikeD says:

    Me no like this park.

  257. Cy Pettitte says:

    ugh. Safeco is stupid.

  258. Mike Axisa says:

Wrong part of the park, Curtis.

  259. Jetrer says:

    GD fucking Safeco

  260. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    fucking Safeco.

  261. Chen Meng Wang says:

Thats a homer in YS3, and everywhere but here and Yellowstone.

  262. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

back home Grandy would have 2 jacks tonight

  263. Sarah says:

Cano, save us from extra innings!

  264. your mom says:

    At least no pop-up there.

  265. Cy Pettitte says:

    Middle reliever for MVP!

  266. Montero's Mojo says:

Not a good night for the big $$$

  267. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    lets go swish

  268. your mom says:

    Cano is so good.

  269. Frigidevil says:

    Robbie wants 601

  270. Jesse says:

Swisher better not fucking bunt this time.

  271. Monteroisdinero says:

Robbie swinging with his 5 iron and then laces the double. Jesus for the win.

  272. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Jesus is gonna hit a bomb here

  273. Chen Meng Wang says:

If Micheal Kay got a ballot it would read
    1. Robinson Cano
    2. Robinson Cano
    3. Robinson Cano
    4. Curtis Granderson
    5. Curtis Granderson
    6. Curtis Granderson
    7. Justin Verlander
    8. CC Sabathia
    9. Robinson Cano
    10. David Robertson

  274. Greg says:

    They’re disrespecting Jesus!

  275. Naved says:

    Save us Jesus!

  276. Sarah says:

Oh dear. This will either be amazing, or sad.

  277. Mike Axisa says:

    Kill them all, Jesus.

  278. your mom says:

    I’m calling hat trick

  279. Montero's Mojo says:

    Jesus for the save?

  280. Jesse says:

    Jesus will go Oppo Taco.

    /Victor Rojas’d

  281. Chen Meng Wang says:

    Jesus :(

  282. Monteroisdinero says:

  283. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

  284. Sarah says:

Sigh. I have no faith in Soriano.

  285. Montero's Mojo says:

    Hat trick it is.

  286. Pat D says:

    That sucked.

  287. your mom says:

    Simply overmatched.

  288. Karl Krawfid says:

Needs to work on recognizing the breaking ball away.

  289. pop up teixeira says:

  290. MikeD says:

I would have pinch hit Posada there.

  291. fresco says:

i dont understand why robertson isnt coming out for an inning he only threw like 10 pitches and hes our best reliever outside of mo. too much faith in soriano.

  292. Widget says:

Kennedy is going yard. It’s just one of those games.

How about K-Rod whining about being a setup guy? Get over yourself.

  293. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Is Wade injured or something? Serious question, because there’s no reason to go to him over Wade here.

  294. your mom says:

What? We haven’t sweeped here since 1999? Craziness.

  295. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

  296. Greg says:

To be fair to Nunez, that was a tough play.

    • BK2ATL says:

LOL, a very tough play. It was crazy that he even got a glove on it. Undeserved hate around here for not making that play. I doubt if A-Rod or Chavez even get there.

Great play by Gardner!!! Pure speed.

  297. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    alright…not Nunez fault…….

  298. Hummingbird S. says:

Nunez, still atrocious on the field

  299. your mom says:

    Uhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm. Shit.

  300. MikeD says:

I would have had Posada at third.

  301. your mom says:

    I’m calling walk-off HR.

  302. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Tough play

Doesn’t change the fact that Nunez is a butcher with the glove.

  303. NHYankeesFan says:

Is Soriano actually pitching good or are the Mariners hitting really bad?

  304. Jetrer says:

    gritty as hell

  305. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    fuckkkkkkkk yeah

  306. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Gardner made that look so easy.

  307. Chen Meng Wang says:

UZR is so right about Gardner.

  308. Cy Pettitte says:

  309. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

Andruw Jones certainly does not make that play

  310. Mike Axisa says:

I thought Gardner had zero chance to catch that. Zero, none.

  311. your mom says:

Geez, this game has only gone on for 2 and a half hours? Seems like 4 hours so far.

  312. MikeD says:

Jones doesn’t catch that, although it’s possible they might have had Jones positioned differently.

  313. Rey22 says:

Wow, Gardner is a beast. He ran like a mile.

  314. Bill says:

    Gardner is amazing

  315. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

the yanks get to the 10th, they will put up a 5 spot…

  316. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Bonus baseball!

  317. Mister Delaware says:

  318. BK2ATL says:

Soriano looking like he’s turning it around. We might have something solid there after all.

  319. Monteroisdinero says:

I am a Nunez fan but I can’t take His D and low baseball IQ much longer. Time for a sitdown with the coaching staff.

  320. MikeD says:

I wonder how much you get paid for wearing an elk head and Mariner uniform? I’d really be embarassed to be wearning a Mariner uniform, so the elk head makes it easier to take since you can’t be recognized.

  321. Montero's Mojo says:

Seeing as how this game has been one monumental offensive fuck fest, I wouldn’t be surprised if BG, Martin, and Nunez teamed together to win this one.

  322. Mike Axisa says:

Extra innings when you have a cross country red-eye waiting for you … wooo!!!

  323. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

If the Yankees lose this game, there will be panic articles from ESPNNY about how they can’t win in extra innings.

  324. fresco says:

i think one of the things long has to get in the lab about in the offseason is making brett a little more aggressive. he takes way to many down the plate.

  325. Jetrer says:

    Boone Logan. Seriously Joe?

  326. Bill says:

    Great, Boone Logan.

  327. fresco says:

al is right. ugh if chavy is ph here why wasnt he up for nunez before

  328. Chen Meng Wang says:

    …head scratcher here..

  329. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

at least we got Chavez coming in to play 3rd

  330. Hummingbird S. says:

    offense looking good

  331. Jesse says:

Watching the Mariner Broadcast: Is Wade not warming up?

  332. Montero's Mojo says:

Wow. That was truly pathetic. Bravo, Yankees. Bravo.

  333. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    I think Cory Wade died.

  334. your mom says:

    White flag. Nuff said.

  335. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    Boone Logan….preparing for loss

  336. Rey22 says:

Girardi with the Logan white flag.

  337. Jesse says:

I’m going out on a limb, but I say Logan pitches a scoreless inning/appearance

  338. Cy Pettitte says:

    Boone sucks, game is toast.

  339. Hummingbird S. says:

Logan and Girardi tag teaming for a loss

  340. ArchStanton says:

Logan is just awful. Just awful.

  341. fresco says:

ichiro ends the game off of BOOne logan. guaranteed.

  342. Jetrer says:

bring in the Loogy to IBB the LH

  343. Cy Pettitte says:

  344. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    Logan against Lefties….even sucky ones….fail

  345. Jesse says:

Ok Axisa, you can start your research project with the opposing OPS following an IBB right here….

  346. Hummingbird S. says:

    he cant retired lhb

  347. your mom says:

Fuck Logan, fall behind the hitters why dont u?

  348. Hummingbird S. says:

Ackley is a good hitter, please dont let Logan face him.

  349. jon says:

ackly walk off calling it now

  350. NHYankeesFan says:

Ackley scares me. Boone Logan makes my fear intensify

  351. Stratman9652 says:

I know Boone is ,well, Boone, but isn’t a LOOGY supposed to get out guys like Ichiro? Just spit balling here.

    • your mom says:

      I would’ve walked Ichiro too.

      • Stratman9652 says:

Not saying I have a problem with it, but the whole point of a LOOGY is to get out the brand name left handed hitters. The fact that Ichiro isn’t quite what he used to be just makes it more baffling. Come the postseason it would be nice to have a lefty you can count on to get out guys like Hamilton or Ortiz, ect.

      • fresco says:

yankees obviously dont wanna get home (not that they arent trying) but vargas. wright. wilhelmsen. cmonnnnn!

  352. jon says:

    yikes thought that was it

  353. Hummingbird S. says:

    Almost lost it. Terrible pitch.

  354. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Holy terrible slider, Batman!

  355. MikeD says:

Boone is the only lefty who I feel comfortable pitching to righty batters, and live in fear of him facing lefty batters.

  356. your mom says:

    Inside FB please???

  357. Rey22 says:

I vote they talk Leiter out of retirement to be the LOOGY. Can’t be worse than Logan right?

    • MikeD says:

I’m thinking they should give Ron Guidry a try. Sure he’s in his 60s, and abd can’t hit 96 mph any more, but if he can get his fastball up to 80 out of the pen, I’m sure the slider will still have good tilt. Can’t be any worse.

I’m thinking Whitey Ford in his 80s will be a stetch.

  358. jon says:

    did NOT see that coming

  359. Hummingbird S. says:

    wasnt pretty, but it worked

  360. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    noooooooo way

  361. Chen Meng Wang says:

Boone Logan is so terrible I cannot even believe that he is allowed to breathe the same air as…oh wait, he just kept us going for another inning…

  362. BK2ATL says:

Great job, Boone Logan!!! Nice power stuff under pressure.

  363. Jetrer says:

OK, that means they CAN’T possibly lose now, right???

  364. Greg says:

    Would you look at that?

  365. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Boone doesn’t allow runs? that means we have to win now.

  366. CUYanks says:

Better score now or else face the prospects of a Proctor walk off

  367. JFH says:

All the Logan hate and negative expectations on this board have gone awry.

  368. your mom says:

For what its worth, good job Poon Logan.

  369. your mom says:

4 hits thru 10 innings? Gross!

  370. Montero's Mojo says:

Will Teixera do anything? Anything at all…

  371. Chen Meng Wang says:

I was very confused by what Kay just took me a few seconds to comprehend the point he was trying to make.

  372. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Fuck. this. ballpark.

  373. Jetrer says:

I’m really hating Safeco right now.

  374. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

    this fucking ball park

  375. your mom says:

Fuck this park man. Fuck this fucking park!

  376. Pat D says:

That’s the second time the Mariners outfielder jumped when, frankly, he had no need to.

  377. Hummingbird S. says:

nothing going right on offense.. great play by their CF

  378. Bill says:

The Yankees seem to hit so many balls to the wall this year …

  379. David N says:

So this is what playing in a big ballpark is like….

  380. Mike Axisa says:

If the Yankees play the Mariners in the playoffs, they’re screwed.

  381. AaronGuielWithASmile says:

    Well, I tried Yankees.

    Time for bed

  382. Rey22 says:

Get Noesi in there to give us 3 innings or something. I don’t wanna see Ayala/Proctor/Laffey.

  383. Stratman9652 says:

Fuck this park. And Micheal Kay’s fly ball calling skills.

  384. Chen Meng Wang says:

Seriously…fuck this place. No wonder the Mariners don’t have a good offense, it’s not that they don’t know how to build one they can’t because they play in Yellowstone National.

  385. Montero's Mojo says:

This is the point in the game where the Manager needs to get ejected and ignite a fu*&ing fire under his team’s ass so they can cross the border and go the FU&K! to sleep! (Courtesy of Samuel L. Jackson)

  386. Jesse says:

Just received word that the Yankee offense is about to land safely in Toronto. They should be checking into the team hotel shortly after, they deserve a good night’s rest.

  387. Rey22 says:

Logan for 2? Damn, now you’re really playing with fire…

  388. Hummingbird S. says:

    more Logan, why not

  389. fresco says:

oh yea boone logan for 2. great! girardi wants to get outta seattle.

  390. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

I think Boone has some pics of Girardi…

  391. your mom says:

    LNOGY strikes again.

  392. Jesse says:

    Pull Logan please.

  393. Montero's Mojo says:

So yeah, Logan can’t get out Lefties… Why does Joe not know this? Color me confused.

  394. Stratman9652 says:

Just noticing this but Boone is a big boy.

  395. Hummingbird S. says:

Great, after Logan stops sucking we’ll get Ayala in a close game, which means a RH version of Logan

  396. Bill says:

Thank God he didn’t bring in Ayala

  397. ItsATarp says:

great we try to go two innings of a dead arm logan…brillant

  398. your mom says:

Percentages say that Seattle will come thru in this situation at some point right?

  399. Dude says:

girardi is in heaven 5 straight leftys for logan

  400. Pat D says:

Whenever Boone Logan leaves the Yankees, I really hope he gets to have a Richard Nixon-like 1962 press conference where he says, “You RAB guys won’t have Logan to kick around anymore!”

  401. FIPster Doofus says:

Chance this game gets to the 12th inning? I’ll go with 1 percent.

  402. JFH says:

    does oliva bat every inning?

  403. your mom says:

    Golden Sombrero plz?

  404. Jesse says:

Cory Wade? I thought he died? Oh wait….The binder, I forgot….

  405. Hummingbird S. says:

    Wade making it look easy.

  406. Jetrer says:

Runs now please. I do need to get SOME sleep.

  407. Jesse says:

    I heart Yankee bullpen.

  408. BK2ATL says:

Cory Wade shutting down the threat!!!!

C’mon Robby, make your case for MVP right. Or at least do something, bcuz I’m sleepy now.

    • Jesse says:

      David Robertson is the MVP

      • Pat D says:

He had a point, though, when he said someone might give him a 9th or 10th place vote. Go back through MVP voting histories and you’ll see examples of that, and guys who weren’t as good as Robertson this year, either.

Jeremy Affeldt for the Giants a couple years ago, for example.

  409. CUYanks says:

I think Girardi’s done a pretty darn good job trying to win the game with his use of the bullpen today. Much better than most September games I’ve seen where there’s a decent lead in the standings.

  410. Montero's Mojo says:

It’s like Willy Mo has miraculously seen fewer pitches than plate appearances.

  411. JFH says:

    dear yankee offense,

i am tired. please show up, so we can close out this game and i can get some sleep soon.

    thank you,
    tired in atl

  412. Pat D says:

    Yea, that’s a gruesome injury.

  413. Jesse says:

God, I’d hate to be on the East Coast right now staying up late and watching this game with things to do tomorrow. Hey, at least there’s some upside to living on the west coast, right? RIGHT?!?!

  414. your mom says:

Why thank you Delabar. No bunt plz?

  415. David N says:

    Oh crap.

  416. Montero's Mojo says:

Free baserunner to lead off the inning… Somehow I feel a little better this time around.

  417. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

I bet Swish is gonna bunt

  418. Stratman9652 says:

Really is there any reason for Robbie to stay in this one?

  419. Hummingbird S. says:

    shitty AB swisha

  420. Mike Axisa says:

Those were some pretty awful at-bats.

  421. Widget says:

Those were two damn sad at bats. I actually would have had Posada hit for Montero.

  422. your mom says:

2 pitches, 2 outs. Of course.

  423. swishers fauxhawk says:

Hey, I have an idea, let’s keep swinging at the first pitch.

  424. Pat D says:

Oh, dear, they’ve caught up to Jesus already, eh?

  425. jv says:

    omg end this fucking game

  426. fresco says:

i havnt been watchin the whole game. has montero really looked overmatched? jason vargas made him look overmatched?

    • Chen Meng Wang says:

more like out-thought. It’s not like they’ve been knocking the bat out of his hand, they’re going to more offspeed stuff earlier in counts and he hasn’t made an adjustment.

  427. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Jesus 0-5 :(

  428. Montero's Mojo says:

This may very well be the worst game I’ve ever witnessed. This offense is non-existent.

  429. Pat D says:

    Remember the Gardner/Jeter leadoff debate?

    Ah, good times.

My opinion of Gardner has not changed in the last year: Love the defense, love the stealing, but goddamn he needs to be more consistent at the plate.

  430. your mom says:

Wow that was an obnoxious YEEAAHHHH by some female in the stands there.

  431. Bill says:

The Yankees are so incredibly inept in extra inning games this year. It’s to the point where I expect a loss every time the game goes past regulation. Still watching though …

  432. Chen Meng Wang says:

Nice play by Robinson…baseball for ever.

  433. Hummingbird S. says:

They could play another 9 innings and this offense is not going to score..

  434. fresco says:

he comes up with the ball in his bare hand when he went for it with his glove and that doesn’t set off the alarm ump?

  435. ArchStanton says:

What a bunch of horseshit baseball. How many first pitch pop-ups have they had tonight?

If that idiot Thompson didn’t wait so long to send Jones, this game would’ve been long over (fallacy of pre-determined outcome and all that).

  436. Widget says:

I blame Swisher. He should have never hit that homer. Even his homers are bad.

  437. Cy Pettitte says:

    wow great game.

  438. Jetrer says:

well that was worth staying up for

  439. Karl Krawfid says:

    Thank you.

  440. Pat D says:

I thought Wade was better than everybody else in the bullpen?

    YCPB, folks. Nighty night.

  441. Hummingbird S. says:

it was for the best, they wouldnt have scored anyway, better end it sooner

  442. MikeD says:

  443. BK2ATL says:

  444. Bill says:

Now watch them celebrate like they won the pennant.

    • Jesus Freak says:

      They always do that.

When ever a team walks off on the Yankee they act like they won the series.

The Angels did that last Friday.

  445. But of course it’s the guy with 2HR all year…

  446. ArchStanton says:

On one hand I’m glad it’s over. On the other, Luis Rodriguez?!?!

  447. David N says:

And of course Seattle has no problem hitting homeruns. YCPBS.

Oh well, 2 of 3. Time for a day off.

  448. Greg says:

Dammit I wanted a five game lead!!!!!

  449. Chen Meng Wang says:

    woot…whatta game…I shouldn’t have stayed up for this =/

  450. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Luis Rodriguez? come on…….

  451. FIPster Doofus says:

    Fuckin assholes.

  452. Karl Krawfid says:

About time the Yanks get a day off.

  453. thaaaaaaaaaaaayankeeswin says:

guy hitting .189 fucking nine…2 doubles and a walk off.

  454. swishers fauxhawk says:

    Beyond the point of caring.

    Everyone lost, so no harm.

  455. Avi says:

Mr Rodriguez: Please pee in the cup.

  456. JFH says:

that sucked. i hate staying up for extra innings on a west coast game, with no payoff.

  457. your mom says:

That guy in the moose costume made his money tonight. Fuck that guy Rodriguez.

  458. Montero's Mojo says:

I leave my computer for 5 FUCKING SECONDS! Holy shit. That was some horrible baseball tonight. This offense is too good (or so I hear) to play THIS bad for the past week…

  459. Jesse says:

Ok now I received word that the Yankees offense has checked into the team hotel. Everyone on the offense is accounted for. They’re just waiting for the pitchers and coaches to report.

  460. Bill says:

I don’t think they should even celebrate. I mean, their season was basically over in July. I guess they’re just having as much fun as you possibly can when you’re 23 games out.

  461. ItsATarp says:

oh wells…at least the team gets some time off

  462. pop up teixeira says:

failed to sweep in seattle… again, but at least they took the series

  463. Bill says:

    Sweepless in Seattle

  464. stuart a says:

tex and his 246 ba. no need to change his approach after all he has 100 rbi’s. the softest 100 rbi’s in baseball.

tex for a smart guy is not too smart…his approach is horrible, selfish, and not good for the team……………..all or nothing backleg all the time. dead red every pitch every ab…

  465. Zack says:

Tex is a joke…he is too selfish to change his approach at the plate which is NOT working at this point.
And to only get one run tonight…that’s also a joke.

  466. stuart a says:

tex obp down to 34%.. he needs to adjust. his all or nothing left field porch approach is getting old fast………..

    • Bill says:

It’s not like it’s an incredibly hard adjustment either. I mean, a lot of hitters change their approach to hit the ball the other way in the middle of the at-bat when they get to 2 strikes. So it’s not like changing his approach to left center would get him into a funk.

  467. Jesus Freak says:

fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck

  468. Zack says:

ANyone else freaking out about Robbie and his foot. If we lose him, we are in DEEP trouble.

  469. Tyrone Sharpton says:

wow I get up and I see that the Yankee game ended up 15 minutes before…that is pretty odd, I’m not gunna lie….I love these West Coast games

  470. Kevin says:

“pcaldera (Pete Caldera) Cano went off with a team trainer headed for tests on his foot.”

If we lose him…kiss this season goodbye.

  471. teddy says:

det has a good chance to catch ny for homefield and is because this offense has tanked

  472. Jesse says:

This is the first late extra innings walkoff loss that I never got pissed off in my life.
