YAY. 10% CHANCE OF RAIN DURING GAME YANKS GAME!

  2. J-Rod says:

Look up Yankee Stadium on weather.com

  3. Jesse says:

    Shoppach walks, 1-0 Rays.

  4. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

Jeff Mathis would have caught Shoppach’s foul tip and would have kept the Rays off the board.

    Sciosca’d

  5. J-Rod says:

Rays or Rangers? I’d rather face the Rays. U?

  6. Jesse says:

Big Game James CGSHO, you heard it here!

  7. Kramerica Industries says:

    Holland shitting bricks out there.

What % chance of a CG from Shields? Probably 35, at least.

  8. Kramerica Industries says:

Texas went 15-4 against Seattle, 13-6 against Oakland, and 12-7 against Anaheim this year, I believe.

That’s roughly a 40-17 record against a weak division. Inflated record some?

  9. mbonzo says:

Rangers must be pissed all their soft groundballs aren’t hits this year.

  10. TheLastClown says:

Is anyone else having problems w/ the TNT & TBS HD feeds??

    I’m in Cali.

  11. JBID says:

Rays look absolutely dominant right now. Still, I would rather face them in the ALCS than the Rangers.

  12. Guns of the Navarone says:

Doug Fister is basically Brandon McCarthy.

  13. Nuke LaDoosh says:

Think I would have preferred Smoltz’s career to 9 Alexander wins.

  14. Kramerica Industries says:

Hah. Of all those “Eight ways to have productive AB’s”, how many of those wouldn’t actually count as an AB?

They showed the list quickly, but I saw BB, HBP, sac fly, among others…

    • Jesse says:

Does having a 10+ pitch AB without reaching base count as a productive AB?

      • JBID says:

This is the basis for the stat I invented this year, the Good At-Bat Average (GABA).

      • Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

7 pitch AB was on the list so I assume yes.

        • Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

actually it was 8 pitch ab, this was the rest of the list:

          1. Hit
          2. BB
          3. HBP/C. Int
          4. SAC Fly
          5. SAC Bunt
          6. Advance Lead Runner Via Out
          7. Advance Lead Runner Via Error
          8. 8 pitch AB

Team goal is 17. (not sure what that means)

          • Jesse says:

Probably means if your team gets a combination of 17 of those your team is likely to win (of course if your pitching shits the bed then it may be irrelevant).

          • Jesse says:

And oddly enough four of those (BB, HBP, SAC Fly, and SAC Bunt) don’t count as an at bat.

          • Kramerica Industries says:

Only 1, 6, and 7 are guaranteed to be AB’s.

I know I’m nitpicking the hell out of this, but it’s just as easy to make a list and say productive PA’s instead of AB’s.

            • Jesse says:

It’s fair to nitpick this because TBS should know that not all of those are at bats. This game is being Nationally televised. They should know the difference between an at bat and a plate appearance.

      • Guns of the Navarone says:

I think it said “8 pitch AB.” And where’s the cutoff point? Is 7 pitches not productive. Why not 10? Hell… maybe they can go to 11?

        /thisisspinaltap’d

        • Kramerica Industries says:

I’m guessing the minimum was eight just because it was the eighth item on the list.

          Yay for parallelism.

      • Kramerica Industries says:

Even though many times those can end up not being AB’s either.

I guess that’s just Texas getting to the head of the Rangers hitting coach, whoever that is.

  15. Cy Pettitte says:

I fear we many have created a momentum monster in the Rays.

  16. Dela G says:

wow longoria is a career .195 hitter during the playoffs and they called A-rod unclutch??

    • Jesse says:

I think most of that un-clutch label came from when A-Rod was like 0 for 20 something in the playoffs when there was at least 1 runner on base for a long period of time.

      • Dela G says:

that’s the most obscure and stupid stat i’ve ever heard. The fact that he was judged on that stupefies me

        • Jesse says:

Why? He’s the cleanup hitter that gets paid 20+ and sometimes 30 Mill a year. He should be able to hit with runners on base, not go 0 for 20 something. I’d love to see if Derek Jeter has ever done that in the Postseason.

      • Tom says:

With ARod “they” (MSM?) basically arbitrarily started counting his stats from Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS

He was mashing up until that game in the ALDS and ALCS but it didn’t fit the narrative (he also hit well before that year in the postseason). It’s bad enough to rely on small samples, but it’s even more ridiculous when you decide to start the sample in the middle of a postseason series because it suits the media’s needs.

  17. Jesse says:

The Phillies/Cards game is starting to get interesting…..

  18. Jesse says:

2 run dinger for Joyce, a BOMB. 3-0 Rays.

  19. Freddy Garcia's 86 mph Heat says:

    Those Rays really want this…

  20. Tyrion Lannister says:

Still don’t know why there were people who wanted to avoid Texas. They haven’t done anything offensively. Sign me up for Montero, Jones, Swish and Teix from the right side vs overrated Texas lefties any day of the week.

  21. Kramerica Industries says:

Texas with their best chance to make something of this series right now.

    They better make it count.
