Marc Carig’s Q&A with Jim Hendry

The Yankees hired former Cubs GM Jim Hendry as a special assignment scout in January, and yesterday Marc Carig caught up with him for a little Q&A session. Hendry spoke about the pressure of being the Cubs GM and joining the Yankees, plus a ton of other things. Pretty interesting to see someone from the inside talk about the World Series drought on Chicago’s north side. Check out, interesting stuff.

Interesting, but i can’t agree with you.

Always interesting to see what a guy looks like when you’ve been reading him name for years.

I have no idea what a “special assigment” scout does. Sounds like whatever, where ever Cashman want to deploy him.

Hendry’s comments on the Cubs’ draught is interesting, basically saying that the front office, the team, the players do feel the pressure. When asked, the Red Sox and Cubs players would always say it had no impact. I never believed it and Hendry pretty much confirms it.
