The Yankees have given Phil Hughes a lot of rope through the years, and it sure seems like that rope is getting shorter and shorter by the start these days. Andy Pettitte and Michael Pineda are still a few weeks away, but it’s going to take more than one or two strong starts for Hughes to keep his rotation spot when those two return. The Twins are about as good of a matchup as he could hope for these days, so even though it’s only April 19th, this is a pretty important start for Phil. Here’s the lineup…
SS Derek Jeter
CF Curtis Granderson
3B Alex Rodriguez
DH Robinson Cano
1B Mark Teixeira
RF Nick Swisher
LF Raul Ibanez — and so it begins
C Russell Martin
2B Eduardo Nunez
RHP Phil Hughes
Tonight’s game starts a little after 7pm ET and can be on YES locally and MLB Network nationally. Enjoy.
