2012 Draft: Ground Rules & LiveBlog Reminder
ByThe 2012 amateur draft kicks off tonight and ends Wednesday. Tonight’s broadcast of the first and supplemental round begins at 7pm ET and can be seen live on MLB Network (there’s a preview show starting at 6pm ET). I’ll liveblog all three days and post various news, notes, and player capsules, plus we’ll also have regular content as well, so please keep the conversations in the appropriate posts and comment sections. Draft stuff in draft posts, please. Also please review our Commenting Guidelines.
These next three days are both fun and hectic, so thanks in advance for helping us stay organized. Tonight’s liveblog will be begin shortly before 7pm ET, so I’ll see you then.

The Axisa Effect: Live blogging for three straight days.
Go big or go home.
Looking forward to the yearly “Wait…..I’ve never heard of this guy” from Axisa after the Yanks first pick.
Looking forward to your coverage Mike. I’ve looked in the last few years and really enjoyed it.
Who’s your favorites for the 1st pick? And what time does it start on Tues & Wed?
I like Carson Kelly, but I seem to be the only one. I really have no idea what the Yankees are going to do in the first round, the smart money seems to be on a HS arm.
Rounds 2-15 start at noon Tuesday, then 16-40 stats on noon Wednesday.
Yankees get to select three picks today, right?
Just one. First and sandwich round tonight, second round tomorrow.
Mike,
Please remind everyone not to post actual team selections announced on twitter BEFORE the name gets announced on MLB Network. I followed BBV during the NFL draft, and much of the first round was spoiled by people retweeting team reporters who got the name of the pick a minute or two BEFORE the pick was actually made.
Agreed, but I don’t think the baseball picks are as loosey goosey as the NFL picks are. Plus he’ll be controlling what gets published in the livechat. I barely ever refresh the page to see the comments when there are chats.
Always look forward to draft day coverage. I’m hoping Yanks get SS Addison Russell, though most experts think he won’t last that long. Rather they get a quality bat in round 1 since there aren’t that many in this draft
If the Yanks truly believe Russell can stick at SS and he’s on the board at #30, they have to take him. Getting top middle infielders is going to be next to impossible with the new spending restrictions both in the draft and Latin America.
