Monahan highlight’s Old Timers’ Day rookies
ByThe Yankees announced the roster for this year’s Old Timers’ Day, with retired and long-time trainer Gene Monahan highlighting the crop of first timers. Early-1990s manager Stump Merrill will also make his Old Timers’ Day debut, as will Sterling Hitchcock, Matt Nokes (!), and Tanyon Sturtze. Standbys like Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson, Whitey Ford, Bernie Williams, and Paul O’Neill will be there as well. No Jorge Posada though, I figured he’d take at least year away first.
Old Timers’ Day is this Sunday, July 1st. The ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 11:15am ET before the Yankees take on the White Sox that afternoon.

Jorge would be the ringer for whichever team he played for. Bernie would need to play on the opposing team for sure, perhaps with Paulie as well.
Does Tanyon Sturtze still have an arm attached to that shoulder???
And Joe Torre has already pre-summoned Sturtze from the bullpen.
Scott Proctor is warming as well.
I thought 2012 might be the first year Andy Pettitte might actually participate in an Old-Timer’s game. Glad the old timer is still pitching for the big club.
Can you imagine if Andy didn’t make a comeback, but did throw and keep in shape on his own? Could have been a perfect game.
That’s why I’m doing my push-ups right frigging NOW.
Love,
Aaron Small
I’d like to see Shane Spencer, personally.
Dump Chris Stewart. Bring back a fat and jolly Rick Cerone.
That one’s before my time. Showing your age there Tilapia
Oh shush. It was just the 80′s. I’m not exactly pulling out the Horace Clarke years here.
As sorry backup catchers go (and Cerone did have about ten minutes in which he was good, but I was about six at the time), who else became shirtless spokesperson for a jeans line? Flaherty? I think not!
Just messing with ya. I’m very bored at work.
All the Torre/Sturtze jokes were made already. Damn.
I always wonder whether this is the only date Homer Bush ever has marked on his calendar every year.
Here’s to Stump bringing some old favorites with him. I miss you, Chuck Cary.
Sam Militello, Velarde, Stankewicz, Gerald Ice Williams, Alvaro Espinoza, Mike Gallego, Steve Farr, Steve “Ace” “Five Nd Fly” sanderson, Lee Gueterrman, Greg Cadaret, Mike Stanly
RIP steve Howe
Clay Parker, Wade Taylor, Jeff Johnson, Jimmy Jones, John Habyan, Kevin Mmmhat. Bring back the real stank from the period.
Eric Solderholm
I’d love to see the Perez brothers come back for old timers day
Probably still couldn’t find the Stadium as they moved it across the street!
Can they bring Sturtze and Karim Garcia for crowd control?
