Update: Lots of promotions. OF Mason Williams, OF Tyler Austin, and C Gary Sanchez have all been promoted to High-A Tampa while OF Rob Segedin, C J.R. Murphy, and OF Neil Medchill are going to Double-A Trenton. C Kyle Higashioka is going down to Tampa while IF Jose Toussen, IF Tyson Blaser, and OF Eduardo Sosa are going down to Low-C Charleston. Not fair for Blaser, but that’s minor league life.

Phillies have begun gauging trade interest in Cole Hamels
Yanks give one away at the Trop
  • Brian S.

    Is Chris Breen legit?

    • crawdaddie

That’s where the scouting comes in for players not listed on BA listings.

  • Rick

Depaula pitched. 4ip 7k, not being challenged at all.

    • Danny

I’ll take it, best part of his start is only 1 walk. as much as he isn’t being challenged (and it may just be free-swinging Dominican teenagers), as long as his control is good I’ll be happy with him.

  • Steven T

Rookie Davis has the perfect name for being in GCL in his first year of pro ball

  • LeftyLarry

    Breen will be a steal.

    • Brian S.

      Where did we steal him?

      • Alex C

        12 round this years draft

  • Brian S.

Love Williams, Austin, Sanchez all taking multiple walks.

    • Andy Pettitte’s Fibula (formerly Manny’s BanWagon)

Yep. Hasn’t the lack of walks been the one big knock on Williams?

      • Rick

He hits 300 screw walks. No more 250 trash average obp hitters.

        • Ted Nelson

          Ineresting perspective…

        • Brian S.

          Yeah I hate OBP.

          • Danny

            Don’t we all ….

  • yooboo

Good to see Cole Garner pick up a slack. Garner needs to prove that he can play without Rockies Mountain’s assistance. Stay healthy and play hard.

    Melky Mesa tears up. whoo!

  • Andy Pettitte’s Fibula (formerly Manny’s BanWagon)

Marshall sitting only 89 MPH and averaging barely 6 K/9 this year has been pretty disappointing considering he’s pitching in a pitchers park in a pitchers league.

I thought he’d be a half step above the Warren/Phelps/Mitchell trio but after what he’s done this year, I think he’s more like a half step below those guys.

    • pat

He’s become a sinkerballer. He’s throwing an 89 mph 2 seam which is decent. If he could maintain 6 k/9 and his 48% GB rate going forward he’ll have better results when he gets in front of better defenses. Agreed he’s lost some luster, but he can still be a productive mlb pitcher. Kid supposedly has makeup off the charts too. Very hard worker.

  • Pat D

The AAA team better not get walked off tomorrow night. I don’t feel like telling a bunch of Metal Swine fans to fuck off and make them realize their team has nothing but AAAA players.

  • JonS

The Charleston game had more walks than a Betances family reunion…. :O

  • Danny

Mason just tweeted that he was promoted

  • viridiana

Eight BBs between Austin, Williams and Sanchez. Since these guys are too good to be pitched to — and have learned to control the strike zone — they all need to go to a higher league. Now.

  • JohnnyC

Mason Williams just tweeted he’s been promoted to Tampa. Starts tomorrow.

  • Need Pitching

apparently Mason Williams getting promoted to Tampa.
    Congrats to him.

  • viridiana

    Yup, that’s what I meant…..

  • JohnnyC

    Austin and Sanchez joining Mason.

    • Need Pitching

  • JohnnyC

Segedin, Murphy and Medchill moving up to Trenton.

    • JU

Just in time for me to go to the game on Thursday! And Dellin is pitching too. That’s an interesting battery right there.

  • JohnnyC

Jose Toussen, Tyson Blaser and Eduardo Sosa are going to Charleston, and Kyle Higashioka is going back to Tampa

    –Josh Norris

  • Frankie

“one day the results with start to match the results, I hope”

Don’t the results always match the results?

  • bojii3

    Josh Norris?@jnorris427

Williams, Tyler Austin and Gary Sanchez are heading to Tampa. Segedin, Murphy and Medchill are coming to Trenton

  • bojii3

    Josh Norris?@jnorris427

Jose Toussen, Tyson Blaser and Eduardo Sosa are going to Charleston, and Kyle Higashioka is going back to Tampa.

  • Andrew Brotherton

According to Josh Norris’ Twitter feed Williams, Sanchez, and Austin have been promoted to Tampa.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/AngeloInNY Angelo

Should be interesting to see how Segedin and Murphy do in Trenton, but the more interesting news are the promotions of Mason, Sanchez, and Austin. Those three have been great this year. Hopefully they have continued success in Tampa.

  • Danny

Very interested to see how the Heathcott/Mason situation plays out in Tampa.

I would imagine that when Heathcott can play the field he moves over to a corner since Mason seems to superior defensively.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/AngeloInNY Angelo

      That’s probably the case.

    • MBN

Slade has had multiple shoulder surgeries. I do not know when he will play the OF again, but I imagine LF is his future.

      • JU

It’s also not out of the realm of possibility that by the time he is ready to play the field, that he may have hit his way up to Trenton…That would solve that problem, and also add to the increasingly interesting Trenton roster that I can go see for $12 per game…

the other day when had a article up about non prospect guys who could become helpful to the big club, i named Reymond Nunez as a guy i liked.. Hes been on a tear since then. I said if he added a bit more power, itd help him, and it seems, hes been smacking doubles and hrs ever since.. Hes also gotta get alittle bit more patient and work a few more walks, but hes having a really solid season overall.. I like em..

Also, Corban Joseph is raking, and his stock has to be on the rise some… Hes still pretty young, and has hit wll on all levels, and is now grooving in triple AAA.. Its good to see a guy go to all levels and do what hes supposed to at every stop..

Rob Segedin is having a great yr, and i could see him in our future plans as a slugging outfielder…

    • http://twitter.com/#!/AngeloInNY Angelo

I don’t know if I’d describe Segedin as a “slugging outfielder,” but he might be pretty good. I wouldn’t expect too much though.

Rob Segidin hitting 310BA with runners on base.. Also hitting 333BA with RISP.. Keep it up Rob!

  • I Live In My Mom’s Basement

I’m surprised there was no Mark Montgomery promotion yet.

    • Dave M

      Me too

  • @ggooglyboogly

Well with the promotion of williams/sanchez/austin and a brother living in orlando i think its time to take a trip down to tampa to see the baby bombers

  • Jack in Taiwan

Don’t get it about Murphy going to AA. He’s hitting .260 and OPSing .696. Does that merit a promotion?

    • Skip

Murphy was hurt in May and just got back into games not long ago. He hit .314/.355/500 in June.

    • JU

What Skip said above, and more importantly, they needed Sanchez to catch everyday in Tampa.

  • The Scheister of Doom

Eh, did Susan Waldman just say Sanchez was promoted to triple A? Can’t be true…she’s on that good stuff.
