Update: Teixeira leaves game with wrist injury, x-rays negative
By10:47pm: Via Marc Carig, x-rays came back negative, so that’s good. Still not out of the woods yet.
10:20pm: Teixeira has a left wrist injury and is headed for various tests tomorrow. Apparently he first hurt himself last night and aggravated it further tonight. “It’s a big concern,” said Joe Girardi. “We’ll keep our fingers crossed.” No good, very bad news.
9:32pm: Mark Teixeira left tonight’s game with an apparent left arm/hand injury. He dove for a ball in the seventh inning and was seen shaking his hand afterward. He remained in the game to complete the inning but was then lifted. Obviously this is not good. Stayed tuned for updates.

Team is starting to look really weak.
If there is something really bad, and there is a thought by Cashman to make a trade, it probably would behoove the Yankees not to announce the extent of the injury in order to maintain some leverage in trade negotiations.
While true in a sense, the non-waiver trade deadline is in less than 18 hours. So the leverage wouldn’t be on our side anyways if we “need” to make a deal.
Yeah, but if another team “knows” we need to deal, they can overcharge us.

Swisher won’t be in LF. In fact, he may be at 1B.
Girardi did that earlier this year during Teix’s sickness. Chavy said he’s not comfortable at 1B.
They will still do Chavez/ Nix split at 3B. They won’t have chavy play every day no matter what.
Then that means that Jones and Ibanez have to be in the line up, and one of them in the field everyday. Even against same side pitchers. Still think that means a move needs to be made.
You could bring up Ronnier and give him a shot in some LF/DH rotation with Jones and Ibanez.

Bottom line, this team is now instantly weak and mostly Left handed! A move has to be made and bringing up another lefty like Cust, Branyan or even though I mentioned it too acquiring Overbay wont help much….
We need a bat, and a quality starter wouldn’t hurt. Let’s bring back soriano and get dempster too!

Also…dude the fucking trade deadline is tomorrow. Hospitals are opened 24/7. Go get those tests done right now. Find out exactly what is wrong with him, right now. So you know if you should be looking for some major upgrade tomorrow.
This team will be out of first by the 3rd week of August. But Cashman can remain stubborn as his team continues to fail in key situations and the injuries mount. Lead off double, tying run in bottom of ninth and they can’t get the runner in. Night after night it’s another fail. This is regular season, in the playoffs elite staffs won’t give up late homers and big comebacks. Yanks will again be one and done…but hey Cashman, glad your done with the trade deadline.

He’s not much of an upgrade if any over Martin. I suppose he’s better than Stewart, but as I’ve said before, I’d be more interested in a defensive stud a la Jose Molina as a backup.

Lyle Overbay just DFA by Diamondbacks…he’s hitting .292 in 110 PA. However he is strictly vs. RHP only ( 95 ab vs RHP, 15 AB vs. LHP_ A possible short term fix? I’m not familiar with his defensive skills however..
