Update: Sabathia feels good after throwing session

By

3:02pm: Sabathia told Dan Martin that he felt good following today’s throwing session and that he remains on track to start that August 24th game. “It felt really good,” he said. “I didn’t feel anything in the elbow, so I am confident. I’m just looking forward to pitching next Friday.” How he feels tomorrow is important as well, but so far so good.

11:30am: Via George King, left-hander CC Sabathia will throw off flat ground today for the first time since being placed on the DL with elbow stiffness over the weekend. “I have just been getting treatment,” he said when asked what he’s been doing in the meantime. Sabathia insists that he will be on the mound on August 24th against the Indians, the first day he is eligible to be activated, but throwing today is a significant step even if it’s not off a mound. Hopefully he comes through fine and can start working his way back in earnest.

Due to range of motion and pain, I just got out of an MRI for my right elbow, attempting to straighten it for the machine was a bitch. The worst pain, ever. I’m hoping after Tommy John surgery I can be like that kid from that movie that could hit 100 MPH after he breaks his arm, Rookie of the Year. Except I’m 30 and didn’t break my arm; just attempting to find a silver lining.

If CC’s throwing off a mound or not, his elbow must not feel like mine. Get well soon CC, Hiro needs a strong number two for the playoffs.

I feel ya man. I fractured my elbow while snowboarding this past winter. Trying to take that x-ray was brutal.

Yeah, it was awful. Hard to believe Joba pitched with a messed up ligament, the pain! They think I’ll have to do a second MRI, one specifically for extremeities, because I couldn’t stay completely still. On the plus side I could take some time off work for the birth of my third child, named CC (Conner Charles) as my wife is 40 weeks and could go into labour at anytime. I just hope I can hold little CC.

“Treatment.” I’m sure Robbie and his “stiff neck”/refusal to high five Melky know what type of treatment this is.
