CC executed his pitches tremendously that inning – other than the first pitch mistake to Jones, that was some ridiculous pitching after the double.

The sequencing and execution was just absurdly good.

  9. Cy Pettitte says:

    holy shit. wow.

  10. Pasqua says:

Two homerun hitting teams, both unable to do anything at the plate.

So, good pitching DOES change everything.

    Way to be, CC.

  11. Joe F says:

    Springsteen is impossible to comprehend.

  12. Get that man a W this inning.

Runs. And lots of them. Send the smirking birds fans home angry. C’mon!

  50. Tom Q says:

Wow. So unexpected. Martin has really picked it up.

  52. Chilango Adoptivo says:

    In yer ear Schmoltz

  53. beachbum says:

Too many home runs. Yanks can never win in post-season relying on home runs.

  54. jjyank says:

Hahaha!! I love how Jim Johnson was absolutely money for my fantasy team, and now that it’s all over, he helps out the Yanks. Much appreciated, Mr. Johnson.

    • kcyankeesfan says:

Ya, he tore it up for my fantasy team, too. He’s a contact pitcher (groundball pitcher) and everything he threw tonite was up. Yanks just teed off on his shit.

  65. Matt says:

    Stop bunting. Jesus christ.

  66. Get Phelps Up says:

    Let CC finish this off?

  67. Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle says:

It must be postseason. You know the yanks can’t hit HR’s in the playoffs so therefore we don’t score. We never hit with RISP so that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.

  88. ClayDavis says:

    Smoltz sounds so dejected

  89. Winter says:

    Wait what? Why now?

  90. RkyMtnYank says:

  119. Tony says:

    Insurance runs please Arod

  120. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

    Still no outs…nice.

  121. Winter says:

Clearly this validates the argument that closer’s can’t pitch when they don’t have a lead.

  122. Chilango Adoptivo says:

Hey Greg where’s the luck going now? God likes the Yanks again? wow

  123. Captain_Turbo says:

    I’m not seeing the towels.

  124. AndrewYF says:

It would behoove A-Rod not to do anything here, because if he comes through it will only be because the Yankees were winning in the first place and he was just ‘compiling stats’.

  125. RISP Chronicles says:

    A-rod will make an out

  126. Mike N says:

  138. Adam says:

Wow, bonus if we run through Johnson’s pitch count.

  139. handtius says:

  155. Hummingbird S. says:

  156. Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle says:

  157. Pasta Stumbling Sojo says:

  169. Karl Krawfid says:

  170. Winter says:

I don’t care what people say. Robbie’s the best hitter in the game to watch, IMO. Such a sweet swing.

  171. I Collect Brett Gardner Cards says:

    the boom stick!

  172. Tom says:

Is there a better sight in baseball than having the opposing team’s closer walk off the mound before the end of an inning?

  173. Pinedas' Colada says:

    Robbie Cano! Don’t cha know!

  174. JRod says:

I’m still not hating on the O’s even as much as Tampa, let alone the Sux, but now I Just want to punish these bandwagon fools that are seeing the inside of Camden Yards for the first time in 15 years. I’m watching the Postseason.TV feed, and the pathetic wimps are streaming out now.

  175. Anthony says:

We got this guys! I feel like the Yanks have done this all season. Struggle against mediocre starters but beat up on the supposed shut-down closers.

  176. This is the Orioles come-uppance for the Jerry Meals bullshit.

  177. Kevin G. says:

Best part about this inning? Tomoorow the Paul O’Neill Rule goes into full effect.

    0.1 5 4 4 0 1 1 17-11 108.00

Just had to put Johnson’s line so far.

  182. Chilango Adoptivo says:

  183. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

I predicted we’d win 6-2 in the 1st thread. Soriano should be able to hold this. All we needed was a split here in Baltimore and the series would swing heavily in our favor. Now we have Andy in Game 2 for the kill shot.

  184. JFH says:

That should silence all the pms game thread posts for a while.

  185. dontchaknow says:

    a lil late but… dontchaknow ?? ;)

  186. Chilango Adoptivo says:

One more run ro put it past 4 let’s go

  187. Bartolo's Colon says:

  189. ansky says:

not too much fake ass orange left at the yards

  190. Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle says:

did anybody catch Johnson’s pitch count before he got lifted? I’d love for him to be tired and disheartened tomorrow.

  191. Total Dominication says:

And now it’s a 135 postseason era for Johnson.

  192. Mike N says:

  193. Adam says:

Did he just say they executed walks?

  194. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

Jim Johnson’s ERA is now up to 135.00

  195. Winter says:

Did he just say that the Yankees execute their bunts?

  196. Dela G says:

good god i love this inning. Folks, this is why they play to all 27 outs

  197. Pinedas' Colada says:

    I think we’re listening to an O’s broadcast…

  198. Pat D says:

Sabathia at 110 with a 5-run lead. I say let him pitch unless he gets in trouble.

  199. forensic says:

5 run lead. I’m leaving CC in there to hopefully finish it off. He’s earned the opportunity.

  200. Cy Pettitte says:

that was great. bury them tomorrow. come home and celebrate on wednesday.

  201. Get Phelps Up says:

Wow the Giants really shit the bed. I expected alot more from them.

  208. Bartolo's Colon says:

    wow, cc

  209. handtius says:

    CC! In for the Kill!

  210. Curious, but hey, might as well let him try with a five run lead.

  211. Mike N says:

WOW! CC is the motherfucking MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  212. Get Phelps Up says:

I’d have to think Soriano and Drob could combine for 12 outs tomorrow.

  213. Chilango Adoptivo says:

    CC for the CG.

  214. mt says:

I think that is the first time as a Yankee that Nick Swisher has ever driven in a runner from scoring position – 4 HRS and 5 RBIs before this point.

  215. RkyMtnYank says:

Why is it that whenever we can’t get the Yes network the booth is always filled with opposition loving yankee haters? (TBS or Fox) You’d think at least once we could get a former Yankees to call them on their bullshit.

  216. JLC 776 says:

I LOVE seeing CC closing out this game.

  217. Bartolo's Colon says:

nate mclouth looks like that guy from shawshank redemption

  223. Mike Stanley says:

Guys, this is totally disrespecting Flanny.

  224. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

Goodnight, beautiful Yankees fans and Greg. Before you fall asleep tonight I want you all to think about how wonderful CC Sabathia is.

  225. Bartolo's Colon says:

weiters with the worst swing of his entire life

  226. Effthisnoise says:

Boy, that dugout over there looks a little shell shocked

  227. Pasta Stumbling Sojo says:

Let’s go, Not-An-Ace, finish them off.

  228. Electric nunez says:

  229. Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle says:

CC’s so not an ace cause he’s fat and eat’s captain crunch.

  230. Bartolo's Colon says:

at worst yanks go to the bronx having to win a best of 3 series

  231. Winter says:

From this point forward, every time someone says “the Orioles don’t have a true ‘ace’” I’m just gonna laugh in their face and walk away.

  232. Chilango Adoptivo says:

CC turned it around at exactly the right time-down the stretch and beyond. HUGE

  233. Nice Scheister of Doom says:

Great shot of CC entering the dugout. It’s like a bunch of midgets reaching up to high five a giant.

  239. Get Phelps Up says:

I really don’t like taking CC out with Robert andino up next. Awesome, AWESOME start, though.

  240. Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan says:

    Robertson?? Really Joe?

  241. Electric nunez says:

Giradi says errr no CG bigman…crap

  242. G says:

    Not an ace.

  243. Karl Krawfid says:

CC stepped up big time. Player of the game.

Lead off double by Hardy stranded was the ace moment of the game.

  244. jjyank says:

Bravo, CC. My hat is off to you, sir. A job well fucking done. You hung in there as long as it took for the offense to wake up/Johnson to suck. Couldn’t have asked for much more.

  245. JLC 776 says:

Damn… really wanted him to get that 27th (or 28th depending on how you look at it) out.

  246. Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

CC pitched his heart out tonight. So glad they put some runs on the board and got him the W. Lew Ford continues to be a little gnat but that’s ok, we get the win and have Andy going tomorrow for the kill shot.

  247. forensic says:

Damn, wish he left him to finish it off, but either way:

    CC!!! Large and In Charge!!!

  248. Anthony says:

    Awesome job CC.

  249. Hall and Nokes says:

I would do Carsten, if you’re wondering.

  250. CS Yankee says:

Wonder what the affect of having CC throw 110 versus 120+ would be for game five (if needed). ..not complaining but surprised that he went out in the 9th.

  251. OMG! Bagels! says:

    David Wells?

  252. your mom says:

Can’t stand this trash named Lew Ford.

  253. OMG! Bagels! says:

    D-ROB finishing. Interesting. CC. Beast.

  254. JLC 776 says:

Aura and Mystique trumps Magic tonight.

  255. Bartolo's Colon says:

HUGE win. Now sit ARod tomorrow Joe.

  269. Pat D says:

As far as I’m concerned, tomorrow is a must win.

For the reason being that the Orioles won 6 at the Stadium this year, so you don’t want them feeling like they have a shot. Second being that I think it’s a must to end this series in 4 or less. Third because I just want to see those Orioles fans cry their eyes out.

    • Eddard reboot v.1.0 says:

I wouldn’t call it must win as I think they’ve already got their one win they needed in Baltimore. However, tomorrow is a big game because it is the kill shot. Up 2-0 with three at YS and it’s virtually over. Also, Detroit is up 2-0 and you don’t want them sitting around resting and setting up their pitching. We want to get the series over quick so CC doesn’t have to pitch game 5.

  270. Joey Stark says:

When it’s all said and done can anyone see CC getting his number retired by the yankees? IF he keeps playing like this I think it’s a lock
