Astros claim Mickey Storey off waivers from Yankees

By

The Astros have claimed right-hander Mickey Storey off waivers from the Yankees, the team announced. The Yankees had originally claimed the right-handed reliever off waivers from the ‘Stros last month, so I hope he hasn’t sold his place in Houston yet. Storey was designated for assignment last week to clear a 40-man roster spot for Mariano Rivera after he re-signed with the club.

has reality set in for the spoiled Yankee fan base?

we are going to have to live on the platry sum of $189 mill for the payroll per year. When that occurrs you cannot overpay a sympathy $3 mill here and there so you do not insult stars……..

so the aroid joke deal will be punishing the yanks for about 5 more years. That is why when a guy is worth $5 mill per you do not pay him $11 mill.

the reason they are not paying Hamilton 3 for $60 is they cannot afford it because of there over pays on in no particualr order; Tex, grandy, Burnett(still paying) arod, Jeter, Mo( hewould go else where if they paid him $7 mill.) and others.

this may be a long year. hopefully they will not do the usual overpay with Crapo. who will be 31 and should get no more then 5 years MAX…

Hey Mets fan, didn’t your team just sign David Wright to an 8 year contract? And how old is Mr. Wright? 30?

Your writing makes it evident that you’re not too bright (it’s “their”, not “there” when referring to someone else), but see if you can grasp this simple concept:

It’s the law of supply and demand that will determine player’s salaries, not what some simple-minded Mets fan thinks it should be.

The rules changed with the most recent collective bargaining agreement. What once worked so well, cannot be repeated in 2014. To avoid the penalties in 2014, they cannot sign free agents to multiyear contracts.

The guys you mentioned have had tremendous success, reaching the posteason almost every year.

If Cano gets more than 5 years it is because every team in the market will offer him seven or eight years. Neither you nor I set his contract; the market will. Take a look at Swisher. You and I can say that he worth something like $10.5M per year for four years. But the market will give him north of $15M for four or five years.

Do you even know who Mickey Storey is?
