Jayson Nix clears waivers, accepts assignment to Triple-A
ByJayson Nix has cleared waivers and accepted his assignment to Triple-A, the team announced. The Yankees signed him to a new one-year deal worth $900k last week, then immediately designated him for assignment. Nix agreed to accept the Triple-A assignment if he cleared waivers, so he remains with the organization but is no longer on the 40-man roster.

Did they already have extra space on the 40-man? Because if they didn’t, this becomes more interesting…
Good thing he cleared waivers. He’s the starting 3rd baseman, at least for the moment.
I hope not. He is a decent utility man, but I don’t want to ever see him get regular starts again.
Silly Yankees, Nix are for kids!
poor nix. another victim of the yankees third base logjam

I’m actually happy to have a player like this who accepts assignments. Nix was valuable in some ways last year; he could have gotten a guaranteed platoon 3b/2b somewhere with thin market but he stayed here. It shows that even with a lack of spending, players still want to be here.
I’m guessing if a team though he was good enough to give a guaranteed platoon job to, he wouldn’t have cleared waivers.
surprised they didn’t he isn’t too bad vs lefties if he is only playing up the middle.
Good to hear.
Yeah, good on, Nixy. But there is no respect for leather, reading the comgratulatory comments. See you in the season.
Something has to be imminent. There was no room on the 40 man. Also on another note, ChiSox shopping Viciedo. Hughes for Viciedo straight up???
