Yankees release 2013 Spring Training schedule

By

It seemed to take longer than usual this year, but the Yankees have finally announced their 2013 Spring Training schedule. Pitchers and catchers will report two months from today, on February 12th, with position players to follow five days later. The first full squad workout is scheduled for February 18th. Camps open a little earlier this season due to the World Baseball Classic.

The full slate of Grapefruit League games can be found on the official site (tickets are already on sale). The Yankees will play their first exhibition game on February 23rd, a road game in Lake Buena Vista against the Braves. They play the Blue Jays the next day in the George M. Steinbrenner Field opener. The team’s most notable exhibition game will be played on March 9th against the Dominican Republic WBC squad, a tune-up for the actual tournament. Robinson Cano will play against the Yankees in that game, which will be fun. Unlike last year, the Yankees and Mets will not meet in Spring Training.

Overall feeling on the WBC? Are we for? Against?

I for one am a fan of any baseball that matters. Any time of the year. So yeah, go WBC!

  6. Drew says:

Well this really sucks. I am going to be in Disney from the 15-22nd. Sad face.

Well the hitters struggle with timing and the pitchers experience change in off season throwing program schedules which can lead to ineffectiveness and possibly a higher chance of injury.
The Asian professional leagues have already begun at that time so they have a sizable advantage to begin with.
I like the idea of the WBC but I really think the march schedule ruins the event.

  8. Elton Cod says:

Cano has been playing against the Yankees for months already – his atrocious offense in the playoffs did much more damage than any opponent could.

Yanks should give up the farm including Sanchez and Banuleous, Nova, Nunez, Phelps etc for Stanton. He makes peanuts and is the best talent in the game. Only Matt Kemp comes close. He’s under control for years at peanuts and by 2014 when the luxury tax is cut the Yanks can fill their needs with free agency. Up until then sign veteran stop gaps like they’re doing with Youkalis and Ichiro. I’d also give AJ a monster 1 yr deal to catch and thy’ll be competitive this year and still be able to be under the 2014 189m limit. It keeps the Yanks competitive next year and for years to come. They’ve got to find a way to get Stanton.

I hate the WBC. Although it should let the Yankees see how CoJo or Adams are doing.

what are the tv stations for the spring training games? Are they on “yes”?
