Hale: Yankees have expressed interest in Ben Francisco
ByVia Mark Hale: The Yankees are one of five teams to express interest in free agent outfielder Ben Francisco. Agent John Boggs said he and his client are looking for the “best opportunity … and who will offer the most at-bats.”
Francisco, 31, is a right-handed hitting outfielder, a market the Yankees continue to comb even after signing Matt Diaz to a minor league contract and claiming Russ Canzler. I wrote about Francisco earlier this afternoon, so I’m going to take the easy way out and refer you back to that for info about his skills and stats and all that. With four other teams interested, getting him on a minor league contract might not be possible.

Well….”most at-bats” probably takes us most of the way out of the running. Since he wasn’t among my top 2 picks off that list of already terrible options, I’m not heartbroken.
That said, we’re might get a roll or two outta the Boss in this thread.
He’s really not that great anyway he’s just well known for his time on the phillies. Also I think Matt Diaz will do fine filling in for jones roster spot A’s RHB off bench/OF and canzler will fill swishers spot leaving one hole which is DH and 2 catcher spots unclaimed and Chavez spot because Nix will probably be back to claim his spot again and youk replaces arod spot so we need a DH (hopefully Hafner or Huff) catchers (hopefully romine-starter/cervelli or Stewart-backup, and Chavez spot could be taken over by mustelier probably since he can mash.
Seriously. Jones as so inept last year, especially the second half, that pretty much any player filling the RH’d bat role will represent an upgrade.
aint that the truth!
Huff? Man I hope you don’t mean Aubrey Huff….
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your mediocre outfielders yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your Major Leagues…
you got that right…and legends seats at 1500 a pop…disgraceful
1500 1500 1500 1500 1500 1500 1500 1500 1500 1500…
Very well done!!!
Hector Lopez played backup in the OF with a decent RH bat. Come-on Cash give him a call he’s old enough. Just a little fun.
I’m interested, but there’s certainly limits to my interest.
Truly, does Ben Francisco really matter to the Yankees?
The more important news today is that the FO “flatly denies” a request to consider resigning Soriano. Why? Is Mo going to play forever? Why not entertain a one-year deal with a club option for 2014 if it appears that Robertson or Joba are not ready to close once Mo retires?
2014 could be a nightmare without a closer. 2012 would have been pretty awful had it not been for Soriano.
Truly! Verily! Forsooth!
They have many needs before closer in 2014.
Ben Francisco, please. Why even post this interest. If the Yankees have interest in him they might as well post every non signed right handed bat available. This is getting ridiculous.
The comments on here are getting ridiculous.
I’m not sure you realize where you are.
EVEN after signing Matt Diaz!!!?!?!?!!?????!?!?!!!?!!!!!!?!?!!?!?!!?!!?!?!?!.?!??.:O
San Fransicso > Ben Francisco
i just hope the yanks make a trade so i can read about something.
