Yankees place A-Rod on 60-day DL
ByThe Yankees have placed Alex Rodriguez on the 60-day DL to clear room on the 40-man roster for the recently-acquired Shawn Kelley, the team announced. It’s just a procedural move, A-Rod isn’t expected to return form his left hip surgery until after the All-Star break.

He will never see the field this year.
This. Except I’ll go so far as to say his Yankee career is over. They’ll eat 90% of the salary and trade him for non-prospects.
Where do people imagine this stuff up?
LoHud?
NoMaas?
EddardWorld?
Winner winner, chicken dinner.
Ding ding ding… Forgot the hash tag, but I’ll take it!
To echo my compadres above, I’ll just say “this”.
Or maybe I’ll add “YoobooLand”. Remember that guy?
I think it’s quite possible he’s played his last game for the Yankees. Eventually, the team will simply release him, a la the Mets with Jason Bay
Which would be monumentally stupid of them to do unless he is truly physically unable to play.
This. ARod will play again. This year. After all, there must be some place he can buy some ‘help’ that MLB doesn’t know about. Amirite?
Over/Under on the number of times a RAB headline reads “Yankees place A-Rod on the 60-day DL” over the next 5 years.
2.5 and I’ll take the over.
Under…. But there will be a metric shit ton of the 15 day variety.
50 games off waiting for him not to mention the boo birds in the bronx.
You’re really on a roll tonight.
He’s gotta get his reps in before the Game Threads start up.
One Almonte…..Two Almonte……Three Almonte…..
*rest*
You left out a T….
Buh dum pishhhhhhh
Hehehe… I see you see what I did there.
Screw aroid.and if he got any friends-screw them too! What about Kelley?Intriguing numbers, but a righty reliever wasn’t a priority. How bout a freakin catcher,
I agree the Yankees should have traded Abraham Almonte for Buster Posey. Seriuosly, though Im surprised the Yankees got someone with a major league tract record for Almonte.
+infinity
Yeah. We traded from one of our deepest positions of depth for a potentially quite useful piece. Sign me up.
Indeed.
if Kelley’s arm blows up,I say never deal with Seattle again.Seriously though,I wonder if Joba might be trade bait, possibly for a catcher, since he is a FA next season, and either Aardsma and or Kelley may fill the bill. just sayin
You would think that after the Pineda Montero trade there would be some bad blood between the Yankees and Mariners, but they just keep on wealing and dealing.
Notice: this post was not written with the intent to create a fifty post string on who has won the Pineda Montero trade.
Obviously the Rangers won the deal… As they ended up with 1/2 season of cliff lee and only cost them a light hitting 1b prosect
“We’ll play the Yankees like fools since we like Smoak better than Montero. Then we’ll trade for Montero later anyway. Plus, we’ll acquire a convicted rapist for Lee, too. And then the good thing about all of this is that Smoak and Montero will both suck once they get here!”
this made me really happy.
Thank you Pat. I think you just won the Internet.
Woo hoo!
A-Rod’s injured? How did the Yankees manage to keep this quiet for so long?
Was this a separate post simply to try to funnel the A-Rod trolls away from the Almonte trade?
I’m sure somewhere, Frank Costanza is screaming: “HOW COULD YOU TRADE ABE ALMONTE? YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU’RE DOING!!!!”
You know you’re not wanted when Yankee fans would rather have Kevin Youkilis starting at 3B. A-Rod should do the best thing he’s ever done for the Yankees, leave. If he won’t bow out gracefully then Hank should undo what he did and eat the contract, if he hasn’t already.
#EddardWorld
No I’d rather have Arod at 3B but since he probably can’t walk without help at the moment, Youkilis is a fine replacement.
