Sanchez and Williams are doing a lot better on the season than I thought seeing the box scores every night.

    • qwerty says:

Williams looks pretty mediocre and I fear Sanchez is beginning to wane. I fear a promotion to AA would literally destroy him like it did Heathcott. The yankees have the shittiest prospects.

      • Cool Lester Smooth says:

Gee, thanks for that insightful contribution.

        • Nick says:

Brilliant stuff, no? And all that just from looking at a box score. Imagine if this guy actually WATCHED the minor league games…

          • qwerty says:

Why would it be necessary for me to to watch a pitcher average 6 walks per 9 innings, or a batter hit .160 to tell you they suck?

            • Bo Knows says:

Because there is a huge difference between a pitcher and hitter. Pitchers have complete control of where the ball is going when its thrown, a hitter has no control what happens to the ball once its been hit. Do you know what kind of contact Williams is making? Do you know the defensive plays or alignment of the field?

              • qwerty says:

Well, using that logic you just as easily dismiss a .350 hitter as well as you would a .150 one. If they have no control over where the ball goes then their stats really mean nothing.

As for Williams, the lack of xbh, increased strikeouts, low BA, decrease in steals tells me more than I need to know at this point to say he’s been mediocre.

            • emac2 says:

The same reason people don’t sound like they are 10 when they are 20. People generally learn they don’t know everything at some point.

            • Cool Lester Smooth says:

Good point. After all, it’s not like Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson ever amounted to anything.

And did you see that Posada kid’s stats in AAA? They might as well cut bait on that one.

              • qwerty says:

Posada wasn’t even a ranked prospect and had zero expectations much less the hype of a Betances, Williams, Sanchez, Heathcott and Austin.

                • Cool Lester Smooth says:

Fair enough. How about Joey Votto’s .256/.330/.425 effort at age 21 in the FSL.

I mean, a 1B with that line? You gotta trade that while he still has any value left at all.

      • Angelo says:

        Haha, who found this guy?

  2. Laz says:

Refsnyder’s stock could skyrocket if he continues to hit once he gets to trenton.

  3. Mattinglyfan03 says:

So is David Adams the guy who comes up if Youk goes on the DL? Do they have someone they can move to the 60 day DL to free up a 40 man roster spot?

    • Jonathan says:

      Jeter is the next guy

    • Brian in MA says:

Adams isn’t on the 40-man so they would have to make a companion roster move. Not sure what it would be since Jeter is already on the 60 day DL.

Corban Joseph is actually on the 40 man, and while he’s come up as a 2nd Basemen and nothing special in the field if I recall, i believe they’ve been putting him at 1st and 3rd to work on the versatility. He would likely be the next one up since he’s already on the 40 man. That could change though, seems like all Adams does is hit and get on base.

      • Nick says:

Personally, I think Adams needs to be up regardless of whether or not Youk needs the DL. IF Youk does need 15 days, the only logical move to open a 40 spot would be to DFA Francisco and that would require two moves anyway. With that being the case, just bite the bullet now and get Adams here now. If Youk needs to be DL’d you call up Joseph then.

  4. Tom says:

Farnham has an absolute cannon for an arm, just saying.

  5. Bo Knows says:

Yeah Refsnyder has been murdering the ball for a month now, might be looking at a promotion soon.

  6. Wolfgang's Fault says:

Two more hits for Tampa s Dan Fiorito. Refsnyder’s not the only infielder down there worth paying attention to.

  7. sabes says:

FYI: Bootcheck is 34 years old.

  8. Bryan says:

What’s the status on Ronnier? If Youk goes down it would be the perfect time for him to come up.

    • RetroRob says:

He picked a bad time to get injured. I think he had a shot coming out of Spring Training and he would probably have a shot now if Youk gets DL’d.

  9. KCSwiss says:

    Rob Refsnyder
    .392/.496/.536 (.419/.545.605 in Tampa)
    15:15 BB to K (9:3 in Tampa)

Was 7-7 in SB in Charleston but only 1-1 in Tampa so not gonna be a speed threat. But the kid just keeps hitting. I say if after five more games like this he should go to Trenton.
