Update: Eduardo Nunez day-to-day with left ribcage irritation

By

4:34pm: The MRI came back negative and Nunez is day-to-day with what they’re calling “irritation.” Joe Girardi said he might not be ready in time to play on Tuesday, which is a problem because that means they’ll be short a position player in an NL park.

3:16pm: Nunez left the game with tightness in his left ribcage, the team announced. He will have an MRI.

2:41pm: Eduardo Nunez was removed from today’s game for an unknown reason in the fifth inning. He was on deck when the bottom of the fourth inning ended, and the cameras showed him standing in the on-deck circle and chatting with Joe Girardi. Chris Nelson took over at third and Jayson Nix shifted over to short. Stay tuned for updates.

nunez seemingly gets dinged up a lot… i really have no reason to play he could play 155 games a season, especially if 150 of them are at shortstop

Yanks are cleaning up in all voting categories for All-Star DL Team.

  11. brian says:

actually just said the summary…. he ASKED to come out… disaster… either it’s somewhat serious and he’s DL headed or he’s a giant wuss

  12. Gil Velazquez says:

The injuries will continue until I am in the game.

  13. Eddard says:

If he goes on the DL this might be the straw that broke the camels back. They can ill afford to lose Nuney right when they’re heading on the road and to an NL park. They’ll lose Hafner’s bat in Colorado and now they may lose Nuney’s glove as well.

    offense already running on fumes.

nix with a nice game today… 4 horrible at bats….

  15. Now Batting says:

Mustellier is playing two games today…

  16. Joe G. says:

Guys are just going to have to step up, and that’s what they’ve been doing, and I know Nellie and Nixie can do it if Nunie isn’t a player for me, and that’s the bottom line.

  17. FLYER7 says:

Im the one who had him traded…obvi wouldnt be the major piece perhaps a throw in and wishful thinking on my part. if it looks like lost time than DL him rather than playing with 24…still question why we have 12 pitchers when we are so thin on the bench.
