Jagielo makes pro debut in GCL Yanks win

By

According to C Wes Wilson, OF Taylor Dugas has been promoted from Low-A Charleston to High-A Tampa. He had a 108 wRC+ with more walks (32) than strikeouts (24) in 243 plate appearances for the River Dogs.

Triple-A Scranton‘s game was suspended due to rain in the middle of the fourth inning. They will complete the game tomorrow. Here’s the box score if you can’t wait that long.

Meanwhile, Double-A Trenton was rained out. They’re going to make the game up as part of a doubleheader late next month.

High-A Tampa Game One (6-1 loss to Daytona) makeup of yesterday’s rainout

  • SS Eduardo Nunez: 0-2 – first rehab game … had a little more on him earlier
  • CF Mason Williams: 1-3, 1 K
  • DH Peter O’Brien: 0-3, 2 K
  • C Gary Sanchez: 0-3, 1 K, 1 PB
  • LF Ben Gamel: 1-3, 1 K — left the game after grounding out in the sixth, so maybe he hurt something … not sure what’s up though
  • 2B Rob Refsnyder: 1-3, 2 K
  • LHP Dietrich Enns: 3 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 2/4 GB/FB — easily his worst outing of the year, he allowed just six runs total all season coming into this game
  • RHP Branden Pinder: 0 IP, zeroes, 1 HB — he was ejected after hitting the only man he faced, Cubs top prospect Javier Baez … bot sure what that was about, but it was the only hit batsman of the game … maybe it has to do with something from earlier this year, or maybe the ump jumped the gun with the ejection

High-A Tampa Game Two (3-2 win over Daytona in eight innings, walk-off style)

  • CF Mason Williams: 0-3, 1 BB
  • 3B Peter O’Brien: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K — walk-off homer … also, this was his first game at third base
  • DH Gary Sanchez: 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 K
  • RHP Scottie Allen: 8 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 1 Balk, 7/7 GB/FB, 1 E (fielding) — some effort considering the game was scheduled for only seven innings

Low-A Charleston (7-6 loss to Hickory)

  • SS Cito Culver & 2B Angelo Gumbs: both 1-5, 1 RBI, 1 K — Gumbs tripled and Culver committed a fielding error
  • 1B Greg Bird: 1-5, 1 R, 2 K
  • 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: 1-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — four hits in his last 18 at-bats (.222), but two doubles and a homer
  • CF Jake Cave: 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI — threw a runner out at second
  • RHP Luis Niebla: 5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 WP, 1/4 GB/FB — 57 of 85 pitches were strikes (67%)

Short Season Staten Island (10-8 loss to Hudson Valley in six innings) complete early due to rain

  • LF Michael O’Neill: 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB — has a hit in all but one of his nine games
  • CF Brandon Thomas: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 SB
  • C Isaias Tejeda: 2-3, 2 R, 1 RBI
  • RHP Gio Gallegos: 3 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 HB, 5/0 GB/FB — rough outing, worst of his career

Rookie GCL Yanks1 (9-0 win over GCL Blue Jays)

  • SS Tyler Wade: 1-3, 1 R, 2 BB – 7-for-13 (.538) with four walks and one strikeout in four games since signing
  • LF Chris Breen: 2-5, 2 R, 1 SB — drafted as a catcher last year, but now he’s playing left and first base
  • 3B Chris Tamarez: 2-5, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K
  • RHP Luis Severino: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 WP, 1 HB, 3/2 GB/FB — 14/2 K/BB in nine innings so far

Rookie GCL Yanks2 (5-4 win over GCL Astros, walk-off style)

  • CF Adonis Garcia: 1-3, 1 RBI
  • CF Nathan Mikolas: 1-1, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI — pinch-hit for Garcia in the ninth and hit a two-run walk-off homer
  • 3B Eric Jagielo: 0-2, 2 K — this year’s first round played just three innings in his pro debut … he missed the last two weeks or so with a hamstring problem
  • DH Luis Torrens: 1-3, 1 BB, 2 K
  • SS Thairo Estrada: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K — he’s the third youngest player in the league at 17 years and four months … Torrens is youngest at 17 years and one month
  • RHP Angel Rincon: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K1 WP, 8/3 GB/FB, 1 E (fielding)
