RHP Jose Ramirez was bumped up to Triple-A Scranton, reports Josh Norris. Pitching coordinator Gil Patterson confirmed it is just a one-start thing though, they needed a starter after RHP Chris Bootcheck was called up the big leagues.
Triple-A Scranton (4-1 loss to Lehigh Valley)
- LF Ronnie Mustelier: 0-1 — left the game with “midsection tightness” in the third … no idea what happened, but the guy has such bad luck, just when it looks like he could get called up, he gets hurt again … same thing happened at the end of Spring Training
- CF Zoilo Almonte: 1-3, 1 BB
- C J.R. Murphy: 0-4, 1 K — allowed four stolen bases in five attempts as well
- DH Josh Bell: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
- RHP Jose Ramirez: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, 1 WP, 2/1 GB/FB — 46 of 78 pitches were strikes (59%), and he ran his fastball as high as 97 … not too bad for a late-notice spot start/debut at Triple-A
- RHP Dellin Betances: 2 IP, zeroes, 4 K, 1/0 GB/FB — 19 of 26 pitches were strikes (73%), and he was sitting 93-95 and touching 98 … 22/6 K/BB in 18.2 innings as a reliever
Double-A Trenton (8-4 loss to Altoona)
- LF Ramon Flores: 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — threw runners out at second and third
- CF Slade Heathcott: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 CS
- RF Tyler Austin: 2-5, 1 R, 1 K — 11-for-26 (.423) during his six-game hitting streak
- 1B Kyle Roller: 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B — came into this game hitting .274/.363/.471 on the year
- LHP Nik Turley: 5 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 HB, 6/0 GB/FB — 63 of 105 pitches were strikes (60%), and he picked a runner off first … up to a 4.90 ERA on the season
- RHP Danny Burawa: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 2/0 GB/FB — only 11 of 24 pitches were strikes (46%) … 34/26 K/BB in 30.1 innings
- LHP Cesar Cabral: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1/1 GB/FB — only 16 of 35 pitches were strikes (46%) … in case you missed it earlier, he has been outrighted off the 40-man roster … that means he cleared waivers and is officially Yankees property with no strings attached, the Rule 5 Draft rules no longer apply
High-A Tampa is off until Monday for the All-Star break. The actual All-Star Game will be played tomorrow. C Gary Sanchez and RHP Shane Greene are their only representatives.
Low-A Charleston (4-1 loss to Augusta)
- CF Jake Cave: 2-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K
- SS Cito Culver: 1-5, 2 K
- DH Greg Bird: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB — believe it or not, that’s his first walk in seven games
- C Peter O’Brien: 1-4, 1 K
- 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: 0-3, 1 K, 1 HBP — six hits in his last 51 at-bats (.118)
- RHP Jose Campos: 4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 5/2 GB/FB — 42 of 59 pitches were strikes (71%) … have to say, he’s been pretty underwhelming this year
