Nunez begins rehab assignment with High-A Tampa

By

Eduardo Nunez started his official 20-day minor league rehab assignment with High-A Tampa this afternoon, going 0-for-2 at the plate and playing four innings in the field at shortstop. He grounded out in both at-bats and made two plays on ground balls in the field. Nunez has to be activated off the DL by July 17th, which is right smack in the middle in the All-Star break. Hopefully he won’t need that much time to get ready; the Yankees can use a fresh body in the lineup.

And tomorrow he’ll go two for two, but impale the first baseman with an errant throw. Vintage Nuney.

GUESS WHO’S BACK!!!!!! Nuney will be just the spark we need to get us through until Jete can return.

Somewhere, Eddard is having an orgasm.

It says something about the offense when I am looking forward to the return of Nunez.

If Nunez and Jeter are both going to return just after the all star break… then when exactly is Nunez going to play??? I guess against lefties, Jeter will DH and Nunez will play shortstop

I really can’t get excited about the return of Eduardo Nunez.

If he can return the offense production he had in 2012 with 2013′s fielding, he should be an upgrade (however minor) over Nix. Incremental improvements. Anything helps.

Hoping for the uptick in offense from Eduardo who is hitting .200. The mighty Yankees are back on the prowl. Girardi does not have many options to correct the offensive issues.
