Update: A-Rod hitless in latest minor league rehab game

By

10:27pm: A-Rod will not be disciplined for failing to show up to yesterday’s game, reports Andrew Marchand. Alex expects his rehab to move up to Double-A Trenton or Triple-A Scranton following tomorrow’s game, but it’ll have to be Trenton since the Triple-A squad will be off for the All-Star break early next week.

7:14pm: In his latest minor league rehab game with High-A Tampa, Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, a ground ball to short, and a hit-by-pitch. He played seven innings at third base and had to make just one play, charging in for a weakly hit ground ball that went for an infield single. Alex is not scheduled to play to second game of their doubleheader.

In other news, Joel Sherman reports A-Rod never did show up to the stadium for yesterday’s rehab game with Tampa even though it was rained out. He had his interview with MLB’s Biogenesis task force before the game. Alex didn’t show up, but he still bought the team a spread from an upscale steakhouse according to the Twitter accounts of his various temporary teammates (like Dietrich Enns). This whole thing has gone from annoying to hilariously stupid at this point.

AROD can feel that he’s days are numbered. This can only mean good things for the Yankees. MLB I feel want to kake Braun and AROD look like Pete Rose and really make an example out of them.

  2. Pat D says:

You’d never hear the end of the criticism if he didn’t buy the team dinner.

  4. Curtis says:

Maybe he had a valid reason? Like there was a long wait at the steakhouse? Very possible

    Meet the new team caterer!!

  6. forensic says:

    0-3 with a HBP, not 0-4.

  7. JonS says:

He’s really going to try to play the injury retirement thing.

  8. Josh says:

The ESPN New York stories on ARod are pretty amusing, stating how he dispassionately answers questions, and stands fewer away from autograph seekers, but still ignores them.

  9. boner jams '03 says:

Is that his second HBP this year? No respect.

Cash must be paying opposing pitchers to get A-Rod hurt for good. Next comes the hitmen with white on white ties.
