Yankees bring entire coaching staff back for 2014

The Yankees have re-signed their entire coaching staff for 2014, the team announced. That includes Tony Pena (bench coach), Larry Rothschild (pitching coach), Kevin Long (hitting coach), Mick Kelleher (first base coach), Rob Thomson (third base coach), and Mike Harkey (bullpen coach). All of their contracts had expired on October 31st. Not surprising news.

  1. Robinson Tilapia says:

I’ll chip in $5 towards some sort of electro-shock device we can attach to Robbie Thomson every time he makes the wrong stop/go call at third.

    Otherwise, fine with this.

    • Sal Guvnally says:

Except of course, that Thomson is widely regarded as being relatively good at his calls sending and not sending runners home…

      Try again. Thx.

      • Johnnybk says:

I think he’s too conservative. I saw a lot of stop signs that would have been risky sends only to see the runner stranded by the dreck that made up the offense this year. You can say what you want about what’s widely regarded, but we’re entitled to make observations too

  2. PhillyMatt says:

what happened to blame everything on Kevin Long?

    • Laz says:

I don’t think that’s fair. Maybe they could have improved, but it’s not like Long can turn Nix’s almost 300 PA into Jeter at his prime.

  3. nyyankfan7 says:

I don’t see Kevin Long mentioned, is he not part of the staff?

  4. Lou Spudol says:

Who looks more like Tom Gordon? Tom Gordon? Or Tony Womack?
