Yankees nearly no-hit, shut out Marlins 3-0

By

The Yankees shut out the Marlins by the score of 3-0 on Friday night, in their second-to-last Spring Training game. They were being no-hit until Kelly Johnson doubled leading off the eighth. Masahiro Tanaka is the story of the night; he struck out ten in six innings, allowing three hits and zero walks. Pretty awesome. He and Hiroki Kuroda combined for 14 strikeouts. Here’s the box score.

Until I read this… i never noticed the NYY were almost no hit again. Lack of hits in lots of games this spring season, considering how short ST is, though it should be noted that not every inning was played by a regular.

With Johnson, Soriano, Roberts, Tex, and McCann in the lineup as regulars I wouldn’t expect our team to have a high BA. Except for maybe McCann, I don’t think any of those guys I mentioned will hit .260. Those guys will probably be in the .230-250 range, with McCann right around .260.

No predictions forthcoming from this guy, I just want chances to win and good health from the rotation. We can paste and patch around the positional players on short term fixes.

Misleading head-line, no ? It could be interpreted as NY nearly no-hitting Marlins, and shutting them out. Oh well, at least he’smyhero was a Tanakout ?! No, no good ?! Doing too much maybe ?! Ah, it’s early, wine still swirling…. Print it !
