Courtesy of Matt Eddy, here are all the players who opened the season on the minor league disabled list. Some of them are actually hurt, some are on the phantom DL as teams manipulate their rosters.
Triple-A Scranton Game One (5-0 loss to Rochester in seven innings)
- DH Jose Pirela, C John Ryan Murphy & 3B Zelous Wheeler: all 0-3 — Murphy and Wheeler struck out
- 2B Scott Sizemore: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 K — 6-for-12 with five strikeouts after this game, so it’s pretty much been either a hit or a strikeout so far
- RF Zoilo Almonte: 1-3
- CF Ramon Flores: 1-3, 1 2B
- RHP Bruce Billings: 4 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 3/1 GB/FB — 54 of 85 pitches were strikes (64%)
- LHP Fred Lewis: 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0/2 GB/FB — 11 of 17 pitches were strikes (65%)
- RHP Danny Burawa: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1/0 GB/FB — 14 of 23 pitches were strikes (61%)

- DH Scott Sizemore: 0-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K — so now it’s 15 at-bats with six hits and eight strikeouts

- 3B Russ Canzler: 2-3, 2 R, 3B, 1 RBI
- RHP Caleb Cotham: 2.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1/2 GB — 40 of 65 pitches were strikes (62%)
- RHP Preston Claiborne: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 2/0 GB/FB — 22 of 32 pitches were strikes (69%) … if they’re going to send Vidal Nuno down after today’s long outing, Claiborne won’t be coming up … he wouldn’t have pitched tonight if that were the case
- RHP Mark Montgomery: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 0/2 GB/FB — 14 of 23 pitches were strikes (61%)
- RHP Matt Daley: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K — 18 of 28 pitches were strikes (64%) … all of his outs are strikeouts so far this year
Double-A Trenton (10-1 win over Portland)
- CF Mason Williams: 2-5, 2 R, 2 2B, 1 K — 6-for-20 (.300) with three doubles, three walks, and one strikeout so far
- LF Ben Gamel: 3-5, 2 R, 1 SB — 6-for-13 (.462) over the last three games
- 3B Rob Segedin: 2-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K
- C Gary Sanchez: 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 BB — six hits this year and four have gone for extra bases (three doubles, one homer)
- DH Tyler Austin: 0-4, 1 RBI — first game of the season after being slowed in camp by a wrist problem
- 2B Rob Refsnyder: 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K — first hits of the season
- LHP Matt Tracy: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HB, 8/4 GB/FB — 55 of 91 pitches were strikes (60%) … he was a big time sleeper at this time last year, but then he hurt his hip
High-A Tampa (7-6 win over Clearwater)
- CF Jake Cave & SS Cito Culver: 1-5, 1 K — Culver scored a run and committed three errors (fielding, two throwing)
- 3B Eric Jagielo: 2-5, 2 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K — there we go
- C Peter O’Brien: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI
- DH Dante Bichette Jr.: 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B — it’s only five games, but he’s doing well so far
- 2B Angelo Gumbs: 3-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 CS — had two hits on the year coming into this game
- LHP Manny Banuelos: 3 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HB, 2/2 GB/FB — no walks yet, so that’s cool
- RHP Brett Gerritse: 4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 7/0 GB/FB — he was really, really good last season
Low-A Charleston (10-1 win over Greenville)
- SS Abi Avelino: 1-4, 1 HBP
- DH Tyler Wade: 1-4, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 SB
- RF Aaron Judge: 0-3, 1 R, 2 BB — five walks and two strikeouts so far
- 1B Mike Ford: 1-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB — 8-for-18 (.444) with a double, a homer, four walks, and two strikeouts for the Princeton guy
- 3B Miguel Andujar: 0-4, 2 R, 1 BB
- CF Brandon Thomas: 3-5, 2 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB
- C Luis Torrens: 0-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HBP
- 1B Gosuke Katoh: 0-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB
- LF Michael O’Neill: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K, 2 SB — Paulie’s nephew has eight strikeouts in 20 at-bats
- LHP Caleb Smith: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 1 WP, 1 HB, 5/3 GB/FB — 45 of 80 pitches were strikes (56%)
- RHP Jordan Cote: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 0/3 GB/FB — 11 of 29 pitches were strikes (38%) … was a huge project pick in the third round of the 2011 draft, but it just hasn’t come together
