- The week opened with three games in Tampa Bay. The Yankees lost the first game on a walk-off and were officially eliminated from the AL East race. They dropped the second game after the benches cleared before salvaging the series with a win on Wednesday.
- The Blue Jays came to the Bronx for a four-game weekend series and the Yankees won the opener thanks to a walk-off error. They won their third straight game on Friday before a bad sixth inning resulted in a loss on Saturday. The Yankees rallied to win yesterday’s game as Masahiro Tanaka returned to the rotation.
- Injury Updates: Martin Prado (appendectomy) is done for the season. Jacoby Ellsbury (hamstring) has a strain and his season may be over. Carlos Beltran (elbow) is still dealing with nagging soreness but will not have surgery until the offseason. Mark Teixeira (wrist) has soreness and may get a cortisone shot.
- Jose Pirela was added to the 40-man roster and called up following Prado’s appendectomy. Chaz Roe was designated for assignment to clear a 40-man roster spot when Tanaka was activated off the 60-day DL.
- Beltran and CC Sabathia were nominated for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award and the Roberto Clemente Award, respectively.
- John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman are expected to return to the radio booth next season.
- The Yankees attended Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomas’ workout over the weekend.
