Both C Gary Sanchez and RHP Luis Severino made Baseball America’s All-Prospect Team for July. Sanchez has continued to mash in August. Severino? He’s a big leaguer now.

- RHP Caleb Cotham: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 0/4 GB/FB — 29 of 42 pitches were strikes (69%) … kinda hope we get to see him a few more times in September
- RHP Nick Rumbelow: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1/1 GB/FB — 19 of 34 pitches were strikes (56%)
Double-A Trenton (8-1 loss to Reading)
- CF Jake Cave: 2-4, 2 K
- SS Tyler Wade: 1-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — he’ll be able to play shortstop everyday here rather than bouncing back and forth between short and second like he was in Tampa
- 2B Tony Renda & RF Mark Payton: 0-4 — Renda committed a throwing error
- RHP Jaron Long: 3.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 6/2 GB/FB — 51 of 73 pitches were strikes (70%) … not his season
- LHP Matt Tracy: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 3/2 GB/FB — 29 of 56 pitches were strikes (52%)
High-A Tampa (2-1 loss to Brevard County)
- SS Jorge Mateo: 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB
- 2B Abi Avelino: 0-4, 2 K — he better get comfortable at second, I doubt Mateo plays anywhere other than short (or DH) the rest of the season
