DotF: Gleyber goes deep again in Trenton’s win

Game 39: Back to Tampa
Yankees let one slip, lose to the Rays 5-4

SS Jorge Mateo placed ninth on this week’s Prospect Hot Sheet. Mateo went 11-for-25 (.440) with three home runs last week. He’s had a tough season overall, so hopefully this last week or so is an indication he’s turning things around and ready to go on an extended hot streak.

Double-A Trenton (6-0 win over Portland)

  • CF Rashad Crawford: 1-4, 1 R, 2 K
  • SS Gleyber Torres: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — first career grand slam is his fourth homer in his last five games

  • RF Billy McKinney: 1-4, 1 K
  • RHP Domingo Acevedo: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 6/4 GB/FB — 68 of 98 pitches were strikes (69%) in his Double-A debut … Josh Norris says he was sitting 94-97 mph in the first inning, and touched 98

High-A Tampa was rained out. They’re going to play a doubleheader tomorrow. RHP Albert Abreu was tonight’s scheduled starter, so he is off the disabled list and back from his elbow issue. Also, 1B Tyler Austin was officially added to the roster on a rehab assignment, so he’s on his way back. I assume both Abreu and Austin will play tomorrow.

Low-A Charleston (5-3 win over Augusta)

  • CF Estevan Florial: 0-4, 3 K — in a 3-for-21 (.143) rut
  • 2B Angel Aguilar: 1-4
  • SS Hoy Jun Park: 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
  • RF Blake Rutherford: 0-3, 2 R, 1 BB — ten-game hitting streak comes to an end
