- The week started with three games in Baltimore. The Yankees earned a 7-4 win Monday before suffering a crushing walk-off 7-6 loss Tuesday. Wednesday’s game was rained out, and the Yankees picked up a 9-1 win Thursday in the makeup game.
- A three-game set in Texas was next. The Yankees blew a four-run lead in Friday’s 11-5 loss, but they rebounded with a 3-1 win Saturday and a 16-7 win Sunday.
- Injury Updates: Adam Warren (back) was placed on the 10-day DL with spasms and will be shut down for at least two weeks. There’s a chance his season is over. Clint Frazier (oblique) started a minor league rehab assignment. Gleyber Torres (elbow) has started swinging a bat and fielding grounders as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Clarke Schmidt (elbow) started throwing two weeks ago as part of his Tommy John surgery rehab.
- The Red Sox were caught stealing signs from the Yankees (and other teams) using video personnel and Apple Watches. They claim the Yankees use YES Network cameras to steal signs. MLB has yet to discipline the BoSox.
- Gary Sanchez’s suspension was reduced to three games, and he served it during the Orioles series. Austin Romine’s suspension was reduced to one game. He served it during the first game of the Rangers series.
- Garrett Cooper (hamstring) was activated off the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Scranton. Tyler Wade and Tyler Austin were called up last week.
- Both Triple-A Scranton and Double-A Trenton are going to their league’s championship series. The GCL Yankees East won their league championship.
- This week’s series with the Rays was moved to Citi Field due to Hurricane Irma.
- Former Yankees player, coach, manager, scout, and executive Gene Michael passed away at 79.
