- The week started with the Yankees down 1-2 to the Indians in the best-of-five ALDS. They continued the comeback with a 7-3 win Monday in Game Four, then punched their ticket to the ALCS with a 5-2 win Wednesday. Amazing.
- The best-of-seven ALCS matchup with the Astros followed Thursday’s off-day. The Yankees couldn’t solve Dallas Keuchel and lost 2-1 Friday in Game One. Justin Verlander dominated in Game Two, as the Yankees again lost 2-1 Saturday. Sunday was an off-day. CC Sabathia and Sonny Gray will start Games Three and Four, respectively.
- Injury Update: Luis Severino (shoulder) was removed from ALCS Game Two as a precaution. He checked out fine with the doctors but could still be sent for precautionary tests.
- Sabathia reiterated that he intends to pitch beyond 2017. The Mets have interest in Joe Girardi, should he and the Yankees part ways. Girardi may walk away to spend time with his family.
- Farm system head Gary Denbo has officially left the organization to join Derek Jeter’s Marlins.
