Making a case for the Yankees to exceed the $197M luxury tax threshold in 2018

If you haven’t read it already, I recommend checking out Jeff Passan’s piece on baseball’s broken economic market. My two biggest takeaways: Too many owners are okay with losing — basically one-third of the league is rebuilding right now — and you have to do things on the cheap to look smart. Win with a big payroll? Well, you bought your title. That is frowned upon for some reason. Anyway, make sure you give Passan’s piece a read. MLB is broken.

This is the nightly open thread. The Knicks and Nets are playing, and that’s about it for local sports. Talk about those games, Passan’s article, or anything that isn’t religion or politics right here. Thanks.
