Everyone can guess what we talk about primarily on the show. While Burnett to the Pirates seemed inevitable for at least week, the “official” word broke while we recorded the show. So there’s plenty of that.
- Mike and I share our favorite Burnett memories, which cover the standard ones plus a few ones of a personal nature.
- How the Yanks can spend the money. There are a few gambles left on the free agent market, and chances are they won’t get major league deals. The Yanks could snatch up a few of them in the coming days.
- We spend just a little time talking about who they should sign as a lefty DH option.
- And plenty more AJ-mania.

We’re back after a week off, running down the latest happenings.
- Could Burnett be a goner? Mike and I talk about the possibilities and wisdom of trading A.J. Burnett.
- The DH situation. The Yankees made some progress here, signing a few players to minor league contracts. But it appears that they have at least one more signing on their radar.
- Retro roundup. Mike and I reflect on the memories we wrote about during retro week.

The big news this week was the Prince Fielder signing. While it didn’t directly affect the Yanks, it certainly changed the balance of power in the American League, and, really, MLB as a whole.
In the first part of the show Mike and I talk about the Yankees’ competition, which has grown this off-season. We run down what the increased power of the Angels and Rangers mean, plus the Tigers, Rays, and Red Sox.
Then we move onto what the Yanks can do to improve. That would be the DH and the other remaining bench spot. We run down some options for what they could do with those.

Well, at least no one has to guess what we talked about on this show.
- Mike and I talk the Pineda trade, and what it means for the Yankees in 2012 and in the future.
- Surprise: we discover that Pineda is really frickin’ good.
- The lost guy in the fray, Hiroki Kuroda, gets broken down.
- And, of course, we spend some time on the DH situation.

Last week we hoped for some developments in the pitching market. Did we get them?
- Edwin Jackson. We saw the two parties connected once again in the past week, further fueling speculation that a marriage with the Boras client is inevitable. But…
- The Yankees reevaluated their budget, so that could change things. Mike and I discuss what the Yankees could be up to.
- And yeah, the whole show is pretty much about pitching, now and in the future. We have basically a whole segment on the 2013 class.
- And onto Jorge Posada. His career comes to an end, so Mike and I think back on his career and what it meant to the Yankees and to the game.

It’s been a while since we last broadcast, so that should mean there’s plenty to talk about. The Yankees have made a few moves, and they remain involved in a few situations. Here’s the rundown.
- Did you know that we haven’t broadcast since we heard of the Yu Darvish winner? Crazy. We talk about that situation and what it means for the Yanks.
- That leads us to pitching. There are a couple of names left, but neither appears likely. That is, if you believe that Brian Cashman gets his way this off-season.
- The Yanks did beef up the bench. Could they make another move or two in that department before they convene for spring training?
- This year’s crop of minor league signings has some upside. We’re talking Adam Miller and Hideki Okakima, mostly.

The Yu Darvish bidding ended this week, and the Yankees did make a bid. We start with that.
- Rumor has the Jays with the winning bid. That alone won’t change the balance of power in the AL East, but they could pull off one more move that would change things for sure.
- Where do the Yanks turn from here? Mike and I run down the remaining options.
- Can Eduardo Nunez change the trade scene? The Yanks have kept him out of trade talks, but with Nakajima potentially in the fold they could possibly upgrade by trading Nunez.
- Mike Cuddyer signed this morning, which, along with Josh Willingham’s contract, gives us some semblance of an idea for Nick Swisher‘s market next off season.
- Plus, all the miscellany you can handle.

Mike’s back from the Winter Meetings, and there was plenty of activity. It might not all be directly Yankee related, but it is in some way or another.
- Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson in Anaheim. Mike and I talk about the implications, especially as it concerns the Wild Card.
- That brings us to Yu Darvish, who was just posted. The Yanks are downplaying their interest, but is that just a smokescreen?
- The rest of the market looks a bit barren. Hiroki Kuroda is still out there, as is Edwin Jackson. But will the Yanks seriously consider them?
- There were a number of minor deals this week. Mike and I wrap up some new names that will be in camp — and some that might not.

The Yankees have managed to stay out of headlines this off-season, which saddens us. But the Winter Meetings are next week, and things can happen there. Mike and I discuss:
- What Cashman might have brewing.
- The obstacles he needs to overcome before anything gets done.
- The inflexible payroll, starring Rafael Soriano.
- The future free agent markets and how it could affect this winter.
- Plus plenty more off-season speculation.

MLB announced some big changes, and the Yankees talked money. That’s what we’re covering in the podcast.
- The added playoff team. Mike and I run through the situation pretty thoroughly, talking about the goods and the bads. While the new system will bring more teams into the playoff hunt, there are some negative unintended consequences.
- The Astros are moving to the AL, which could cause some minor problems with interleague play. Mike and I run down the single biggest issue with future interleague scheduling.
- Brian Cashman talked budget this week, and it seems he’s playing coy again. What does this mean for the Yankees offseason?
