Now that a certain right fielder has re-learned how to hit left-handed, I figured it was time to break out the SwishHawk design for the RAB Shop. We have ten other designs as well, so make sure you check them all out. They look great on shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs, clocks, you name it, plus you can customize the color and style of almost anything in the shop.
(h/t to Tyler Wilkinson for the design, as always)
Courtesy of Tyler Wilkinson, we’ve uploaded a new design to the RAB Shop designed for all the ladies out there that dig more than just the long ball. Yes, I stereotypically chose pink for the image above, but you can customize the color and style within the shop itself. You don’t even have to get a shirt, there’s hoodies, onesies, coffee mugs, and tons of other stuff. We have ten different designs available now (well, nine really, since we have two color schemes of one), so check it out in case you haven’t lately.
Just a heads up, we’ve added a new design to the RAB Shop, this one about robot umpires. You might have missed our anti-bunting design since we didn’t promote it on the site, but check that one out as well. Remember, shirts are fully customizable (color, size, style, etc.), and there’s a whole range of accessories as well.
As the Yankees and Mets gear up for yet another installment of the Subway Series, River Ave. Blues is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Fan Flair challenge and New York baseball trivia contest at the Delta Dugout in Madison Square Park this Sunday afternoon.
The Delta Dugout, sponsored as you might have guessed by Delta Airlines, is becoming an annual happening around the time of the Subway Series. Open from 11 a.m. on Friday through the end of Sunday afternoon’s game, events include a Saturday night pre-game concert by Bernie Williams, an appearance by Joba Chamberlain on Saturday at noon, and an auction to benefit Harlem RBI that will begin with a Mark Teixeira appearance. (In fact, he spilled the beans via Twitter earlier this week.)
Our role in the event comes on Sunday for the Fan Flair Challenge and a subsequent pre-game trivia contest. At 11 a.m., Chris Carlin from SNY and I will be judging fans’ outfits. The Mets fan and Yankee fan with the most team-spirited based outfit will win a giveaway package to one of their favorite’s teams upcoming games. At noon, I’ll then be hosting a special edition of dugout trivia for the Fan Flair runners up with a chance to win tickets to Yankees and Mets games.
The rest of the weekend should be pretty fun too. The games will be shown on a big screen in the park with numerous food vendors. Some other famous New York baseball folk will be making some guest appearances, and batting cages and the like will be set up in the park. Stop by if you’re jonesing for some baseball before the games this weekend. For a full schedule, check out the event’s Facebook page or find out more on Delta’s website.
Does stranding runners in scoring position suck? Yes. Is hitting a lot of homeruns awesome? Also yes. Show some support for your homer happy Yankees and your favorite homer-loving Yankees blog with the new design you see above, now available at The RAB Shop. Tyler Wilkinson put it together for us, and you can buy it on shirts, hoodies, a clock, tons of stuff. ‘Cause there’s nothing like having a runner in scoring position when the bases are empty.
Just a heads up, I’m going to be appearing on Fantasy Pros 911 on Sirius (210) and XM (87) Fantasy Sports Radio at 9:35am ET or so this morning. We’re going to talk about the Yankees and baseball around the league in general, so make sure you tune in.
Update (1:55 p.m.): Just a brief reminder about our event tonight: RAB and Jonah Keri, author of The Extra Two Percent and Canadian extraordinaire, will be at Foley’s in Midtown tonight to watch the Yankees take on the Tigers and chat baseball. Due to a last-minute cancellation, we still have three seats left for our 5:30 p.m. discussion on American League baseball with Keri. For more info or to reserve a ticket, head on over to the Eventbrite listing. If you can’t make the early talk, you can join us at the bar at 7 to watch Freddy Garcia and Max Scherzer square off in Detroit. Foley’s is at 18 West 33rd St. between 5th and 6th Ave.
Come join Jonah Keri, author of The Extra Two Percent, plus Ben and I for an informal discussion on American League East baseball this Wednesday at Foley’s at 5:30pm. Unfortunately, we have to limit that part of the evening to 30 attendees so only ticket-holders will be able to get in. After the talk, we’ll stick around to watch the Yankees take on the Tigers. Everyone is welcome to join us at Foley’s for that part of the evening. Click here to sign up for the discussion (it’s free!), though there are only a few tickets left.
Unfortunately, Jonah won’t have books on hand to sell, but those of you who have already purchased The Extra Two Percent can bring a copy in for him to sign. Jonah will be happy to sell IOUs for signed copies that he will mail to you within the next week. Even if you can’t make it to the discussion, come hang out and watch the game afterwards. We’ll have a blast.
We’ve added one, well really two new designs to the RAB Shop. They’re the same image, but one looks better on items with dark colors, the other on items with light colors. Tyler Wilkinson designed both for us. Remember, you get to pick the color of the shirts, so you’re not stuck with what you see above. We have men’s, women’s, and children’s style, plus a whole line of miscellaneous items like clocks and coffee mugs and tote bags. The address: www.CafePress.com/RiverAveBlues.
Note: Some people have had trouble viewing the store and ordering, but you just have to clear the cookies/cache within your browser. Click tools then options, it’s in there.
Podcast Note: It’ll be up a little later today, we’re slacking this morning. Blame Osama.
Yesterday we unveiled our new online shop, and we’ll be rolling out some new designs in the coming weeks. I added the Evolution design you see above this afternoon, which was designed by Tyler Wilkinson. Remember, you can customize the color and style of the shirt, or hell, you don’t need to buy a shirt at all. The logo is available on hoodies, clocks, bumper stickers, coffee mugs, tons of stuff. Click through and check it out.
Thanks in advance.
