  • The Yankees headed to Miami for a two-game series following Monday’s off-day. They picked up a 2-1 win Tuesday in 12 innings before suffering a disappointing 9-3 loss Wednesday.
  • Following another off-day Thursday, the Yankees went to Baltimore for four games in three days. Luke Voit hit two home runs in Friday’s 7-5 win, then the Yankees swept Saturday’s doubleheader with a 10-3 win in the afternoon and a 5-1 win at night. They finished the series sweep with a 5-3 win Sunday. The Yankees gained 3.5 games on the Red Sox last week.
  • Injury Updates: Didi Gregorius (heel) was placed on the 10-day DL with a contusion. Aroldis Chapman (knee) was placed on the 10-day DL with tendinitis. Aaron Judge (wrist) still has not started swinging a bat. Gary Sanchez (groin) has started a minor league rehab assignment and is about a week away. Clint Frazier (post-concussion migraines) could return in September but it is “too early to tell.” David Robertson (shoulder) missed a few days with tenderness but has since returned to action. Anthony Seigler (concussion) is done for the year.
  • The Yankees claimed catcher Chris Rabago off waivers from the Rockies. Luis Cessa and Chance Adams were involved in up-and-down moves last week. Both Adams and Justus Sheffield are moving to the bullpen for the stretch run.
  • The Orioles approached the Yankees about a potential Adam Jones trade earlier this month. The Yankees passed because they expect Judge to return at some point.
  • The 2019 schedule was announced. The Yankees open at home against the O’s on March 28th.

  • The week started with a makeup game against the Mets, and Luis Severino got hit hard again in Monday’s 8-5 loss.
  • Three games with the Rays followed. J.A. Happ pitched the Yankees to a 4-1 win Tuesday, but the bats went silent in Wednesday’s 6-1 loss and Thursday’s 3-1 loss.
  • The week closed with three games against the Blue Jays. The Yankees picked up a rain-shortened 7-5 win Friday, then they clinched the series win with an 11-6 win Saturday. They finished the sweep with Sunday’s 10-2 win.
  • Injury Updates: Aaron Judge (wrist) still hasn’t started swinging a bat. Gary Sanchez (groin) is expected to begin playing rehab games later this week. Didi Gregorius (heel) has a “pretty significant” bruise and could land on the disabled list. CC Sabathia (knee) was placed on the disabled list with inflammation.   • The road trip continued with three games against the White Sox. Lance Lynn dominated in Monday’s 7-0 win, Miguel Andujar got a big 13th inning hit in Tuesday’s 4-3 win, and the Yankees finished the sweep with Wednesday’s 7-3 win.
  • The Yankees returned home for a four-game series with the Rangers. They hit five home runs in Thursday’s 7-3 win, but Masahiro Tanaka got rocked in Friday’s 12-7 loss. The Yankees rebounded with a 5-3 win Saturday and a 7-2 win Sunday.

  • The Orioles came to the Bronx for a quick two-game series following Monday’s off-day. The Yankees won 6-3 Tuesday before Sonny Gray got rocked in Wednesday’s 7-5 loss. He was moved to the bullpen the next day.
  • The Yankees went to Fenway Park for a huge four-game series next. The bullpen melted down in Thursday’s 15-7 loss, Rick Porcello shut the Yankees down in Friday’s 4-1 loss, and a ninth inning rally fell short in Saturday’s 4-1 loss. Aroldis Chapman blew a three-run lead in Sunday’s 5-4 loss.
  • Injury Updates: J.A. Happ (hand, foot, and mouth disease) was placed on the 10-day DL and could return as soon as Thursday. Aaron Judge (wrist) could soon begin swinging a bat. Ben Heller (elbow) has started throwing as part of his Tommy John surgery rehab.

  • The Yankees signed Cuban shortstop Alexander Vargas for $2.5M. They’re working to convert Dermis Garcia into a two-way player.
  • Forbes says the Yankees are baseball’s move valuable franchise at $4 billion.
  • CC Sabathia plans to pitch in 2019.

  • The week started with a three-game series in Tampa. The Yankees wasted opportunities in Monday’s 7-6 loss, then Masahiro Tanaka picked his team up with a three-hit shutout in Tuesday’s 4-0 win. The Yankees lost 3-2 Wednesday to drop the series.
  • The Yankees returned home for a four-game series with the Royals next. The Yankees picked up a 7-2 win Thursday before Friday’s game was rained out. They played a doubleheader Saturday and the Yankees lost the first game 10-5 and won the second game 5-4. The Yankees closed the series with a 6-3 win Sunday.
  • Injury Updates: Aaron Judge (wrist) will miss at least three weeks with a chip fracture after being hit by a pitch. The American League won for the sixth straight year, which is meaningless, because homefield advantage in the World Series is no longer tied to the All-Star Game.
  • The second half started with a weekend series against the Mets. The Yankees stranded a small army of runners in Friday’s 7-5 loss, and they avoided a ninth inning meltdown in Saturday’s 7-6 win. Yesterday’s finale was rained out.
  • Injury Updates: Clint Frazier (head) is back in the league’s concussion protocol after attempting a diving catch in Triple-A.

  • The week started with four games in three days in Baltimore. As for Monday’s doubleheader, the Yankees lost 5-4 in the first game and rebounded for a 10-2 win in the second game. A winnable game slipped away in Tuesday’s 6-5 loss, but the Yankees were able to split the series with a 9-0 win Wednesday.
  • A four-game series in Cleveland was next. The Yankees rallied late for a 7-4 win Thursday, couldn’t come back in Friday’s 6-5 loss, outlasted the Indians in Saturday’s 5-4 win, then lost a battle of the bullpens in Sunday’s 5-2 loss.
  • Injury Updates: Gary Sanchez (groin) has started a minor league rehab assignment. Gleyber Torres (hip) is expected to begin a rehab assignment this coming weekend. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip, foot, back) is not close to resuming baseball activities. Estevan Florial (wrist) is on a rehab assignment.
