- The Yankees added a starting pitcher this week, signing Bartolo Colon to a minor league contract. It will pay him $900,000 in the big leagues, and Colon can elect to become a free agent if he doesn’t make the team out of Spring Training. The Yanks also signed reliever Warner Madrigal to a minor league pact.
- Brian Cashman raised some hell with a few comments he made at WFAN’s Breakfast With A Champion, but Hal Steinbrenner said he wants the GM to stick around after his contract expires. Cashman tended bar at Foley’s later in the week for charity.
- Rumor has it there’s a “very strong possibility” that Andy Pettitte will return and pitch in 2011. No definitive word yet, sadly.
- Keith Law dubbed Jesus Montero and Manny Banuelos two of the 12 best prospects in baseball, saying the Yankees’ farm system was ninth best as a whole. MLB.com ranked Montero as the ninth best prospect overall.
- Best news of the week: David Cone will return to the YES booth in 2011.
