Offense can't pick up Montgomery in 3-2 loss to Orioles

LHP Jordan Montgomery has graduated to the big leagues, so RHP Gio Gallegos has slid into MLB.com’s top 30 Yankees prospects list. Montgomery is at 50.1 big league innings following today’s start, one out beyond the rookie limit. He exceeded the rookie limit for service time earlier this month.

Triple-A Scranton (5-0 loss to Toledo)

  • 3B Tyler Wade: 1-4, 2 K, 1 E (throwing)
  • CF Dustin Fowler: 2-4, 1 CS — 11-for-22 in his last five games
  • SS Gleyber Torres: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E (fielding)
  • RF Tyler Austin: 1-4, 1 K — first time he’s played a full nine innings during his rehab stint
  • LF Mason Williams: 0-2, 1 BB
  • RHP Luis Cessa: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HB, 10/3 GB/FB — 63 of 93 pitches were strikes (68%) … back on track after three ugly starts

Double-A Trenton (8-7 loss to Portland in ten innings, walk-off style)

  • SS Thairo Estrada: 1-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E (fielding) — 23-for-50 (.460) with two doubles, one triple, one homer, seven walks, and seven strikeouts in his last 12 games
  • 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E (throwing) — 14-for-28 with five doubles and one homer during his eight-game hitting streak
  • RF Billy McKinney: 0-2, 1 RBI, 3 BB, 1 K — threw a runner out at the plate
  • CF Rashad Crawford: 1-4, 2 K
  • 2B Abi Avelino: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K
  • RHP Ronald Herrera: 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 6/7 GB/FB, 1 E (missed catch) — 55 of 89 pitches were strikes (62%) … he had allowed five runs total in his first five starts and 30.2 innings of the season
  • RHP Colten Brewer: 1.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 3/0 GB/FB — 25 of 39 pitches were strikes (64%) … blew the save in the ninth, then took the loss in the tenth

High-A Tampa and the rest of the Florida State League had a scheduled off-day.

Low-A Charleston (3-2 win over West Virginia)

  • DH Estevan Florial & 2B Diego Castillo: both 1-4, 1 2B — Florial struck out twice
  • SS Hoy Jun Park: 0-4, 2 K
  • CF Blake Rutherford: 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 SB
  • C Donny Sands: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K — 9-for-22 (.409) in his last six games
  • 1B Isiah Gilliam: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — four homers in 46 games this year … he hit ten in 57 games last year
  • 3B Oswaldo Cabrera: 0-3
  • RHP Jio Orozco: 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HB, 1 WP, 2/6 GB/FB — 50 of 82 pitches were strikes (61%)
