• After another off-day, the Yankees went to Kansas City for a three-game weekend series. They lost 5-2 Friday in the series opener, then rebounded with an 8-3 win Saturday and a 10-1 win Sunday.
• Injury Updates: Greg Bird (ankle) is “around the corner” from returning. Tommy Kahnle (shoulder, biceps) is “getting real close” to returning. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip, foot) now has a back issue. Estevan Florial (wrist) will be out until August with hamate surgery. • The Athletics came to the Bronx next. The Yankees suffered a 10-5 loss Friday, but rebounded with an 11th inning walk-off 7-6 win Saturday and a 6-2 win Sunday.
• Injury Updates: Brandon Drury (migraines) isn’t where he needs to be yet. Tommy Kahnle (shoulder, biceps) and Adam Warren (lat) went to Tampa to continue their rehab.
