  • Following Monday’s off-day, the Yankees headed to Washington for a two-game series against the Nationals that didn’t get played. Tuesday’s game was suspended due to rain after five and a half innings. Wednesday’s game was rained out. The games will be made up on June 18th.
  • After another off-day, the Yankees went to Kansas City for a three-game weekend series. They lost 5-2 Friday in the series opener, then rebounded with an 8-3 win Saturday and a 10-1 win Sunday.
  • Injury Updates: Greg Bird (ankle) is “around the corner” from returning. Tommy Kahnle (shoulder, biceps) is “getting real close” to returning. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip, foot) now has a back issue. Estevan Florial (wrist) will be out until August with hamate surgery. Justus Sheffield (shoulder) is throwing bullpens and expected back soon. Jonathan Loaisiga (blister) is on the minor league disabled list. Thairo Estrada (wrist) is day-to-day.
  • Brandon Drury was activated off the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Scranton. The Yankees are sticking with Miguel Andujar at third base for the time being.
  • Clint Frazier was called up to serve as another bench bat, then was sent down yesterday. David Hale was released and re-signed.

  • Following Monday’s off-day, the Yankees welcomed the Red Sox to town for a three-game set. Giancarlo Stanton hit two homers in Tuesday’s 3-2 win, then the Yankees mounted an incredible comeback in Wednesday’s 9-6 win. Alas, the Yankees were unable to complete the sweep in Thursday’s 5-4 loss.
  • The Athletics came to the Bronx next. The Yankees suffered a 10-5 loss Friday, but rebounded with an 11th inning walk-off 7-6 win Saturday and a 6-2 win Sunday.
  • Injury Updates: Brandon Drury (migraines) isn’t where he needs to be yet. Tommy Kahnle (shoulder, biceps) and Adam Warren (lat) went to Tampa to continue their rehab. Greg Bird (ankle) and Billy McKinney (shoulder) both started minor league rehab assignments. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip, foot) is still “a little ways off.” Justus Sheffield (shoulder) was placed on the minor league disabled list with shoulder tightness. Thairo Estrada and Freicer Perez were placed on the minor league disabled list.
  • CC Sabathia is “pretty sure” he will retire if the Yankees win the World Series this year.
  • The Yankees and Red Sox will indeed play two games in London next June.

  • The week started with an ALCS rematch against the Astros in Houston. The Yankees suffered a 2-1 loss Monday, then rebounded with a 4-0 win Tuesday, another 4-0 win Wednesday, and a 6-5 win Thursday. What a series that was. Four close games and a postseason atmosphere.
  • The Yankees returned home for a weekend series with the Indians. They walked off with a 7-6 win Friday, then picked up a 5-2 win Saturday. Gleyber Torres walked it off in Sunday’s 7-4 win.
  • Injury Updates: Jordan Montgomery (elbow) was placed on the 10-day DL with a flexor tendon strain and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. Greg Bird (ankle) will begin playing in Extended Spring Training games today. Tommy Kahnle (shoulder, biceps) will throw a bullpen session this week. Adam Warren (lat) has resumed throwing.
  • The Yankees re-signed David Hale to a new minor league contract, then called him up to take Montgomery’s roster spot last week. Clint Frazier was activated off the concussion 7-day DL and optioned to Triple-A Scranton.
  • Justus Sheffield (to Triple-A), Jonathan Loaisiga (to Double-A), and Nick Nelson (to High-A) were among the pitching prospects promoted last week.

  • The week started with a four-game series against the Twins. Giancarlo Stanton’s big game helped the Yankees to a 14-1 win Monday. They picked up an 8-3 win Tuesday and a 7-4 win Wednesday. The Yankees finished the sweep thanks to Gary Sanchez’s walk-off home in Thursday’s 4-3 win.

  • The week started with quick two-game series against Derek Jeter’s Marlins. The Yankees had a big game offensively in Monday’s 12-1 win, but the Marlins returned the favor in Tuesday’s 9-1 loss.
  • Wednesday was an off-day, then the Blue Jays came to the Bronx for a four-game set. CC Sabathia returned from the disabled list in Thursday’s 4-3 win, but the pitching staff melted down in Friday’s 8-5 loss. The Yankees bounced back with a 9-1 win Saturday and a 5-1 win Sunday.
  • Injury Updates: Tommy Kahnle (shoulder), Adam Warren (back), and Luis Cessa (oblique) were all placed on the disabled list. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip) also has plantar fasciitis now. Brandon Drury (migraines) has resumed baseball activities. Greg Bird (ankle) is progressing well.   • The week started with an off-day, then the Yankees went to Boston for a three-game set. They got embarrassed in Tuesday’s 14-1 loss. The Yankees rebounded with a 10-7 win Wednesday, a game that featured a benches clearing brawl. The series ended with a 6-3 loss Thursday.
  • The Yankees went to Detroit next and won 8-6 Friday, in the series opener. Both Saturday’s and Sunday’s games were rained out. They’ll be made up as part of a doubleheader on June 4th.
  • Injury Updates: CC Sabathia (hip) will rejoin the rotation Thursday. Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, hip) received a cortisone shot in the hip and the hope is he will resume baseball activity soon. Brandon Drury (migraines) is still undergoing tests. Domingo Acevedo (blister) was placed on the Double-A disabled list. Gio Gallegos (unknown) was placed on the Triple-A disabled list.
  • Tyler Austin has been suspended five games as a result of Wednesday’s brawl with the Red Sox. He is appealing and thus eligible to play in the meantime. Sabathia and third base coach Phil Nevin were fined.
  • Shane Robinson was designated for assignment when Aaron Hicks rejoined the team Thursday. Jace Peterson was designated for assignment to clear space for Robinson earlier in the week.
  • The Orioles returned Rule 5 Draft pick Nestor Cortes. The Yankees acquired L.J. Mazzilli from the Mets in a minor trade.
  • The Yankees have among the smallest bonus pools for the 2018 draft and 2018-19 international signing period. Same story every year.
  • Once again, the Yankees are the most valuable franchise in baseball, per Forbes.

  • The Orioles came to the Bronx next. The offense couldn’t get going in Thursday’s 5-2 loss, then the Yankees had several players get hurt in Friday’s 7-3 loss in 14 innings. The Yankees rebounded with an 8-3 win Saturday, but blew an early 5-0 lead in Sunday’s 8-7 loss.
  • Injury Updates: CC Sabathia (hip) was placed on the 10-day DL with a strain. Brandon Drury (migraines) was also placed on the 10-day DL.
